  1. COOL, I like the minifig image on the highest peak and the spiral part, how does it move, (how does it get enough friction on the track)
  2. Hmm, thats odd, I checked the bionicle section of bricklink before I posted this topic and didn't see those parts. Is there some sort of feature that shows you the 'full' list of parts in each category, maybe for unverified or miscategorised parts?
  3. I have something lined up , hope it works out :)
  4. Here's some ve never seen on bricklink: Any ideas?
  5. I used to play lego robot wars with my cousin, ah the good old days.
  6. Performs much better, what are the risks of the batteries exploding on the other lego parts? will it damage them? How did you get 9v ro PF?
  7. hi, I have just installed windows XP on my laptop that has a pantium processor, enough RAM and enough HDD space and it is saying 'SR3D builder quit unexpectidly'. I have DIrectX 10 installed and .net 2.0 SP2 X86 (my OS is x86 so I chose this one) Any ideas what the problem is? I meant sr3d builder not ldraw before.
  8. Theres a alightly larger one that is black but the tire is part of the rim and is made of plastic adn cant be removes Maybe theres a tire that will fit it who knows, maybe the rear tire from the 8430 will strech enough to fit on the rim. The rims from the lego 8448 are larger too and theres the ones from the 8444 too that are larger. Theres a wierd looking system one that is used on some set but it is like something from a canon or old wagon and is a 'rust' colour I like the ones from the power puller best. You could stack some rims motorbile rims side by side and see of any tires fit on that too. Helpful picture DLuders, thats what I was trying to do in bricksmith but it dosnt have the parts
  9. Works niceley but if it goes too far inside of the brick it will n longer be able to hold the plate onto the brick but at least it can be levered out. very creative, we need more stuff like this!.
  10. Hi, This afternoon I was looking at the cool 'unofficial parts library'. They looked good on the website but when I opened them in Bricksmith I kept getting: 'Bricksmith couldn't find all of the pieces in this file. The following are missing: s\name.dat'. I opened one file and realized why this was, it's because all of the internal paths in each file had an '\' in them when it should be an '/', replacing all of them allows Bricksmith to find the path to the specified subparts. (located in the 's' or 'p' directory). So for example, if the subpart path is 's/name.dat' or 'p/name.dat', the program look in either the 'p' or the 's' folder, then for 'name.dat'. Now, the problem was editing these thousands of files, so I found a program called textmate and when I went back the parts opened fine with no errors and had no changes to the file extension. I'm using bricksmith but other programs that rely on the LDraw library should work fine too such as MLCAD, SR3D builder and so on. Here's how to fix this: For Windows: 1. Download the unofficial parts library and extract 'LDRAWUNF.zip' file to your LDraw folder. In that folder you should now have these folders: 'LDRAW' and 'LDRAWUNF' ('LDRAW' should already be there as default). 2. in 'LDRAWUNF', then 'parts' Find the 's' subfolder then cut and paste it onto the desktop. 3. Download 'E-Texteditor' (this is 'textmate', but for windows). After installing, open it and go to 'file', 'open'. 4. Locate the 'parts' folder in 'LDRAWUNF' and in the parts folder select all of the dat files and hit 'open'. (there should be nothing but .dat files in that folder since we moved the 's' folder). 5. Goto 'edit' and click 'find and replace', then 'find in selection'. 6. Type in the 'search' bar '\' (with no quotes) then in the bar next to it, type in '/' (with no quotes) and hit 'all' 7. Go to 'file', 'save all'. 8. Now go ahead and cut & paste the 's' folder back into the 'parts' folder (in 'LDRAWUNF' All or most parts should now return no errors when being opened, any errors that do show up are because the file is probably missing even with this fix, and probably means that the part is not fully coded. ***NOTE*** the official 'parts' and 'p' folder should not need to be touched for this fix. For Macintosh: 1. Download the unofficial parts library and extract 'LDRAWUNF.zip' file to your LDraw folder. In that folder you should have these folders: 'LDRAW' and 'LDRAWUNF' ('LDRAW' should already be there as default). 2. in 'LDRAWUNF', then 'parts' Find the 's' subfolder and move it onto the desktop (make sure it is moved not just duplicated). 3. Download 'Textmate' then after installing. goto 'file', 'open'. 4. Locate the 'parts' folder in 'LDRAWUNF' and in the parts folder select all of the dat files and hit 'open'. (there should be nothing but .dat files in that folder since we moved the 's' folder). 5. Goto 'edit' and click 'find', then 'find in project'. 6. Type in the 'find' bar '\' (with no quotes) and hit 'find'. 7. In the 'replace' box, type in '/' (no quotes) and hit 'replace all' 8. Close the box and go to 'file', 'save all'. 9. Now go ahead and move the 's' folder back into the 'parts' folder (in 'LDRAWUNF') All or most parts should now return no errors when being opened, any errors that do show up are because the file is probably missing even with this fix, and probably means that the part is not fully coded. ***NOTE*** the official 'parts' and 'p' folder should not need to be touched for this fix. Perhaps if you put the both p both s and both parts folder content's in one folder there would be even fewer errors after doing the above fix but then the official parts can get messed up from what ive seen when trying, youll have to manually tell your program where to find the folder for the parts to be loaded. Hope this helps people with this issue and here are some before and after photos:
  11. ive downloaded MLcad, can it accept the connections like SR3D builder can so you can easily snap parts together better than LDD or LDraw? the reason I wanted SR3d is because it has almost all the parts and can snap them together. I have LDD and LDraw.
  12. ill give it a go, busy updating Virtualbox ..
  13. No luck I guess ill have to stick with LDD.
  14. Maybe my F1 car that im working on will be put up there as instructions, that would be cool but it is hard to build and has a lot of subelements in it so ill have to wait and see.
  15. Hi, just installed the latest version of LDraw on windows XP pro x86 running in virtualbox under mac OSX, it installed fine and I installed .net framework x86 and directX 9.0c, the LDraw library is in C/LDraw as default but when I open the program I get this error dialogue: http://pastebin.com/gKNPDZN6 When I click continue there is no buttons that work in LDraw not even close or minimize works everything else is greyed out and the main pane is blank. Any ideas whats up?
  16. it's not as bad but is still getting too much play. The suspention arms are horizontal as normal. an are just over 6L
  17. Hi, I have just added the steering arms and steering rack and there is two possible cones I can use, a 4l gear tooth strip mounted on a 6 hole liftarm thin with 4 studs (shown in red in the picture) with the 9L liftarms or a 10L technic gear rack with the 6l liftarms. They have to have towball sockets so those are my choices. I have only tried with the 4l gear rack as im waiting for the 10L to arrive but even if both of these still have the wheels towed out , how can I tow them back in? Note for each wheel hub/spindle there is 2 ball joints available so it can either be done all on one side or on both however I can't have it being too bulky otherwise it limites the steering. I also think this will solve the 'play' in the ball joints which makes the wheels wobble about, that could well make the toed in wheels even more toed in. Here are the photographs of it.
  18. Where can I get the current technic forum skin/backround and new skin that will be put up, is it just an image file?
  19. Yeah, lego change their parts all the time and used to from the start, unless it goes not work lego may send out a replacement. Lego usually test them however so this is a little odd.
  20. Possibly, the problem is since the spring loaded hole is in the middle and the wishbone holes are on the top and bottom when they both rotate the arm that connects the spring loaded hole to the wishbone is misaligned as if has a different rotation since its higher up than the bottom wishbone.
  21. I made a solution by using the holes on the front and back of the grey rings but I cant think of a way to get the white suspension box where one of the 3L liftarms are (next to the yellow bushes) I can fit the white box in but when I link the spring loaded hole up to the wishbones it is too bulky as it limits the steering.
  22. The steering hub which isnt in Ldd and the hole neer the diff ( its square and the UV joint goes right through.)
  23. hi, I have just finished making the front for my F1 car and for my rollcage car but I want to have the wishbones in the same orientation and distance from the grey technic rings but cant seem to find a way of doing it that keeps the whole assembly (excluding tires and rims at a height of 3L. In the attached LXF file you'll see that I put them as close as I could to the grey technic rings but the connections are too tall (5L). However I need the wishbones to be able to still achieve their maximum amount of pivot so nothing should block them Note that the wisbones cannot twist sideways they can only move up and down and since I'm using the wishbones that the technic Enzo has I need to use the end hole which is closest to the grey technic rings. You can get the LXF file Here, any ideas I will test out and reply back.
