Nicely done! I like the detail where the reddish orange bricks meet the tan... very clever to use such simple elements to create architectural detail like that. The roofline also looks sharp, and the overall color palette is really appealing. Post bigger (and more) pictures if you are able!

You're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion isn't "truth". My 4yo son is obsessed with "kitties" just as much as his (girl) best friend. And I know several male AFOLs who are more excited about Unikitty sets than most anything else coming from LEGO right now... she has a cult following dating back to her appearance in TLM that transcends genders. And even if she didn't, just because a show/movie/toy line has a female protagonist does not make it a "girl's" show... just look at the last three Star Wars movies. I would challenge you to back up your claim that LEGO stated the show was "just for girls" with some actual documentation. Because that seems pretty unlikely, and definitely off-brand.

I would like to see three players from each team and Hooch. And if there are spectator stands, then Quirrel, Snape, and Hermione. But that's likely too many figs so it'll probably be two players each and Hooch.

Different set. -
You may be thinking of a few screenshots from PriceVortex that have been making the rounds, which does look like LEGO's website since they use the same generic picture for sets when there is no actual picture to display. Bear in mind those listings may not be accurate and the screenshots may not be complete, especially when it comes to retailer exclusives (the Quidditch set is rumored to be an exclusive at Target, I think?)

Well, #1, how many of these sets do you really need? #2, the policy is there to ensure there is enough stock for everyone to get a set at the initial launch, and to discourage scalpers, which was part of the problem with the Falcon release (aside from there not being enough stock on hand to meet demand), and #3, in a matter of weeks/months the limit will be lifted to 2 or 3 or 5, at which point, if you really want multiples, you can get them. Or just order one online and pick up a second at your local LEGO store. -
I don't mean to lecture anyone, but instead of thinking of how annoying it may be to wait or not know, you might consider how remarkable it is that LEGO released any information about HP/FB sets when they did, let alone official photos of two (excellent) sets. We are very fortunate to be given a look at these sets so far in advance... especially in an age when The-Clone-Maker-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named can knock off LEGO's products before they even hit the shelves.

^ still the gold standard in LEGO trains. I would still prefer a larger-scale Hogwarts Express if possible. 2-3 passenger cars, a large compliment of students, some luggage carts, a portion of Platform 9 ΒΎ, for instance.

Does it really matter? -
They'll probably take a similar approach as they took with the current CMF line, and weight the figs according to perceived demand/desirability. I hope there are at least two complete sets per case (22 + 22), so that we avoid extreme markups of any single minifig (Policeman, grrr). And then the remaining 16 figs being a mix of the "more desirable" figs, with a few characters getting 5 per case, a few getting 4 per case, and a few getting 3 per case.

I think there's a lot of wiggle room with the two terms, but I generally think of System scale to be LEGO's slightly-smaller-than-minifig scale, which they seem to resort to in order to meet cost/budget constraints of a set. It's a fairly acceptable compromise between affordability, playability, and screen-accuracy. Whereas minifig scale is a more accurate-to-the-source-material scale, or as accurate as you can be given the wonky proportions of a minifig. Most notable example being: the $160 Millennium Falcon is System scale, but the $800 UCS Millennium Falcon is mInifig scale. -

I doubt that. The Death Star is still in production and would likely still be available for 6-12 months after it ends production. So I would expect the two sets to overlap for a year or more. -

Sounds like the UCS Cloud City is legit, and is supposed to include both Slave I and a Twin-Pod Cloud Car. (From a pretty reliable source on another forum, who shall remain safely... anonymous.) -

I would agree that it's highly unlikely LEGO would independently (outside of Ideas) make most of the other submissions in that Ideas review... except the Space Shuttle. Given the popularity of the Saturn Ideas set (they sold through their initial stock immediately, and it's been in and out of backorder every since) and the popularity of LEGO space vehicles in general (and the Shuttle in particular), I think it's almost a given that a larger, expert-scale Space Shuttle is coming at some point. -
Do you have a 4-6 year old? Have you met one? Because my 3 year old knows exactly who Harry Potter is despite never having read the books, seen the movies, or otherwise being exposed to the character. I have no idea how he knows... but I do know that in a year or two he will be begging me for a Harry Potter Juniors set, if such a set exists.

Juniors is a major on-ramp for younger kids to the world of all things LEGO. If the regular HP sets sell well and the line continues, I think a few Juniors sets would be entirely possible if not probable. The subject matter β at least in the early movies/books β is no more mature than Batman, Superman, Ninjago, Jurassic, etc. Having said that, I've seen zero evidence that there are any HP Juniors sets planned for this year, or at all.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
jdubbs replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There is speculation that it's any number of things, such as a Star Destroyer or a Rebel Blockade Runner. The impetus for the Cloud City rumor (aside from wishful thinking) is a leaked set list that added "CC" to the set number of the larger 2018 Star Wars UCS set. But this could have been a typo, or a code of some sort, or completely meaningless. And it could also mean things other than "Cloud City", such as "Corellian Corvette" which is a nickname for the Rebel Blockade Runner/Tantive IV (a variant of which happened to be pictured on the final Solo one-sheet poster). Personally I would love to see any of these made. But while there are a lot of signs (real or imagined) pointing to Cloud City, the idea of a $500-$600 Cloud City playset is still problematic in many ways... -

By most accounts Rebels sets sold poorly, which is why there haven't been any in so long. While it's certainly possible more sets could come eventually, I wouldn't expect LEGO to produce sets for it with the frequency of, say, CW sets which have remained popular well after the show ended. (The Clone Wars show is still available on Netflix, which probably accounts for a lot of its enduring popularity with kids. Rebels is not.) -

Anything is possible. LEGO is still making Clone Wars sets and that show went off the air 4-5 years ago. And we have a long time to go (well over a year) before sets for Episode IX show up. But I would expect the last 2018 wave to include a mix of sets from various movies, esp. if we're getting both the Resistance Transport (TLJ) and V-19 Torrent (CW) in it. No. It was just depicted as an example. Expect mostly older and poorly-selling sets to be on sale. -

Kylo's TIE was listed as an example of one of the sets that would be on sale in an ad that LEGO sent to catalog subscribers/VIP members. So pretty much assured that it will be on sale. -

Yes he did, along with the V-19. Theyβre just not the set numbers previously reported, so presumably coming in the last wave of sets later in the year. -
LEGO can put whatever figs they want into whatever sets they want, so long as WB doesn't object. If/when we ever get GoF sets again, and there is a set with a dragon in it, Rita could easily appear in it... or in most any other set for that matter. That said, I think a CMF is also a likely place she would show up.
