Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
zoth33 replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes it is. They even have the Monkie Kid sets on there. -
I get that these prices are high for Monkie Kid. But There is still great value sets even with the smaller star wars and even the $20-$30 sets in super heroes have had some great value recently. Most hobbies are expensive anyway, Lego has always been an expensive hobby with collecting, storing, and displaying your sets or MOc's. There are definitely some better detailed figs in the marvel line recently. I really like the Monkie King mech even though its $150.00 but it also has over 1,600 pieces and looks great for that price is really good. I guess what I'm trying to say is recently AFOL's have been saying they are willing to pay extra for really detailed sets and now lego is giving us some and people are still complaining about the price. Or Lego makes a more affordable model but people cry it doesn't have enough detail and they would pay extra for a better model so I don't know how lego would please everyone since it's never going to happen.

The river looks great with the shading. The river embankment is excellent, the upper shelf of the embankment is very nice. I like the different vegetation throughout the build, especially the way you have the lush vegetation by the water and the dry vegetation in the desert part. The tree looks great with the whips around it, is that meant to be a vine around the tree? The camels carrying the loads is great too.

Nice build. I like the bridge and the small pine tree. Although the fig does seem a little under dressed for the weather lol.

[MOC] A Little Bit of Magic - Trade District of Albion

This is beautiful. I love the wall, the detailing within the wall itself and the battlements look great especially with the dark gray accenting the battlements. The vine growing up the wall is a nice detail. I like all the brick built canopies, the different colors used really add a vibrant look to the scene. The sand green building is fantastic, I love the roof and the arch way. I like all the different vendors and their products they are selling, like the mushrooms, books, carrots, apples, etc. The addition of the green plant pieces in the ground area is a great detail. The white arch way is very nice with the gold accents and the trans clear colored pieces in the middle. Great use of animals and the figs to bring the build to life. Such a great build with so many details. -

In the US you can't get any of the figs except the generic heads and torso's. No monkie kid or red sun, no monkey king, and none of the villains are on B&P. Not a real good selection of figs at all. I'm hoping Ninjago is different and at least you can get the different skeletons, maybe the trolls or goblins too. -
Just curious how long have you been into lego?. I think a lot of the sets this and year and the past few years have been very detailed and at great price points. The new pirates idea set, a lot of the creator expert sets are great, Stranger things, many of the idea's sets all have great builds and price points. The new Ninjago sets look great and are quite detailed. Yeah some of the super heroes sets don't have detailed minifigs. Yes Lego is a business they are into making toys for kids and recently have made a larger effort making sets for AFOL's. I really don't see your complaint here this has always been the way lego has been. When I was a kid in the 1980's my parents couldn't afford those huge castle sets with 9-10 figs and a couple of horses or the really large city sets. The dynamic is still the same it has been, it's just grown with the inflation of the worlds economy. I guess it's all how you look at it but if your that angry why even buy lego?

Nice landscaping, I like the two trees. Very nice rock work and plant coverage on the ground. The fallen log looks good. Your figs are very nice too.

Very nice longboat. I like the dragon head. The wrapped up sail is a nice feature. I do agree that when using different flesh tones with minifigs the yellow does stand out but so does the flesh tones when you use them with a predominately yellow group of figures. I don't mind either but certain tones look better with certain torso's. You do have a very nice group of figs.

Great tower. I like all the tiles and plates on the tower. The upper wooden part is excellent. Very nice railing and I like the use of the wooden round tiles to simulate wooden beams. The tiled roof is nice. I like the trees and plants around the tower, the trees have some nice diversity. I like the vine with the claw pieces, gives it some character.

This is awesome. Really wonderful job, you have been honing your technique well. The stone work on the buildings is great with all the layering of tiles, plates and profile bricks. The windows at the top of the tower are fantastic. The irregular and layered base is wonderful and give the build some nice depth. The landscaping and rock work flows nicely around the build. The whole build is like it came straight out of a fantasy adventure book. I also like the layering and the different colors of the roofs. The mill is very nice. The different plants that surround the build also give the build a natural look to it. The figs and the animals around the build bring it to life. You should be very proud of this. Excellent work.

Lovely build. So is Hroar the guy with the black beard and mohawk?. The Building is quite nice, I like the tiered affect it has. The wood and the stone looks great.
-
That's a great idea. I like how all the buildings are unique and each has a unique landscape and vegetation around it. The water looks great and lets the builds stand out. Wonderfully done.

Very nice wall. I like castle black. I like the blue roofs with bits of snow on them. I liked that scene in the show with the white walkers coming from the woods.
-
Lots of crazy things going on. I like all the monsters, the ones grilling is great. I like all the trees with the sea weed pieces on them. The boarded up windows are a good touch. Very fun and interesting build.

That is one impressive build. The red building with the varied plants and figs is striking. The lava looks great, I like the way you made it spill on to the floor. That is a lot of Chima figs. I liked the Chima figs. I actually would have liked to see it last another couple of waves to see what they would have came up with.

Buildable Figs don't sell well just look at the star wars ones. Lego I think said they won't be doing those type of figures anymore. -

Awesome build. I love the building especially the large windows and the fireplace are nicely detailed. The landscaping and rock work is great with a nice mix of vegetation, water, and the bridge. Nice use of the pods too. -
That would make sense from what you are saying. I think you will be right in the end when we actually see the prices. Hopefully we will see the prices soon so I can budget my lego expenses this year there are so many sets that I would like to get I don't know if I can get them all.

Very nice flora. I like the trees with the carrot pieces. The leafy plants on the ground are a neat addition. Great use of that collar piece for a birds nest. Nice little boulders too.

If your talking in respect to lego not having printing yes, though I do like that lego colored the tail the same as the torso. I'm sure we will get centaurs in other iterations down the road. Hopefully in a new castle theme. Maybe the next time we see the centaur body it will be printed. -
I have seen much of your work, but this one eluded me. Very nice. I like the use of the custom Sauron helm and the ravens is a nice touch.
-
Great idea for your evil army CPTKrunch. I like the torso's and use of the old mummy heads.
