Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm not great at puns but I'll have a stag at it. Can't believe we're getting four new animal moulds just from Harry Potter with the Phoenix, (flying) Owl, Hare and Otter, it's such a random selection of animals . It'd be great if Lego made some already existing animals as patronuses as well and just throw them in random sets but I'll take what I can get. Don't know h-owl it can get better from here! -

Your Diagon Alley design idea is interesting though that would need a lot of shops to make up both sides of the alley. I don't see how they could make that so it is long enough unless all the shops were just facades, in which case it would be really awkward to display and not very playable. Personally I'm hoping for only one line of shops with the Leaky Cauldron on one side and Gringotts on the other so you can create the journey of the minifigures from one side to the other. If there was just one line of shops it would be much easier to display as well. However, a hint from kingnono on Instagram a while back said there would be pins in the set to connect the buildings together so you might be able to configure them in your v shape as well. -

I agree with you there, I remember the day that the Great Hall set was revealed because it blew my mind! However I was able to use the pieces from 2010 Hogwarts to recreate the layout of the Great Hall and tower quite well, and have since built my own Hogwarts around it with much larger rooms than you can get in the sets. I think that's the greatest weakness of the new castle segments in that they sacrifice space for detail, especially in the Clocktower and Whomping Willow sets. That being said I'll definitely get the Room of Requirement set no matter what and am keeping an open mind about the Astronomy Tower. We'll just have to wait and see... -

I actually really look that look, I always thought he looked quite eccentric in the film and it makes him stand out a bit more. Lego will probably want to keep it consistent with their previous minifigure (tho this year Dumbledore will have had 3 different hairpieces) but I might try and get this hairpiece in build-a-minifigure at some point. -

I'm still lucky enough to own a lot of the 2010 wave so I've skipped out on all the Hogwarts builds so far (I was interested in the Clocktower but wasn't very impressed by the final build). The largest set I've got from this theme so far is the Hagrid's Hut as I've mostly picked up the smaller sets which complement my collection: the Aragog set, Expecto Patronum, the Knight Bus, Hungarian Horntail and Graveyard duel sets. The 2019 sets had a lot more that interested me and I think this year will have even more! -

One option that I think people haven't considered is Ginny. We haven't had her yet in the reboot waves and I'd argue OotP and HBP is when she's most prominent. As Neville's included twice this year and Luna 3 times Ginny's absence seems like a big omission. -

I definitely agree leaks have been might drier this year, although I think part of the reason it especially feels like this now is that it peaked really early this year with the set list and then the leaked cmf packaging. The few figures and creature elements we've seen have been fun but I don't think anything can match the first two leaks in terms of excitement until we get HD set pictures (or a long-awaited figure like Tonks). -

The cellar would be a definite must, maybe with the layout of this Hobbit set but at a larger scale and with a more substantial upper floor. There could be a playfeature with the chandelier as well, and maybe a turntable function for Dobby apparating. Maybe a table to the side as well to recreate the Death Eater meeting with minifigures from other sets. I'd also really like a Lucius with stubble in this set as that was a really distinctive look for him in the Deathly Hallow films. -

I hadn't thought of the dragon being put on the roof, that's a really solid point! I could easily see that happening -

This would be perfect but I doubt that there would be a 6x2 row of studs on the back of a Lego dragon, unless it was as big as say the 70612 Green Ninja Dragon or the 70652, both of which had four legs instead of being wyverns like all the Harry Potter dragons. If the Ironbelly was built at the same scale as the Horntail it would look ridiculously small next to the three minifigures on its back. This tells me again that the Ironbelly is very unlikely to come in the Diagon Alley set. Gringotts will most likely have the foyer section so the dragon would look really out of place there, unless there's a special rock area built just to recreate the Deathly Hallows break-in which would clash with the layout of the rest of the shops. Personally I think there'll be a younger version of Harry and Hagrid, two goblins and a small piece of unconnected track build which runs straight with a similarly unconnected vault door. This would not need many pieces and would mean all the iconic scenes from Gringotts in Philosopher's Stone could be recreated. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Darth Shadowthrone replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Honestly that sounds great to me but I don't see two Harry Potter series being released two CMF waves apart. I really hope there is a third one and am going to buy an absolute tonne of the second series minifigures but I think a third series would either be released at the same time as the third Fantastic Beasts film or two years apart so casual fans know its a new series -
Latest news about Lego animal moulds
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The new mould for the Otter patronus has leaked for Harry Potter. It looks quite large like the hare, larger than some lego dogs I think but it would be good to see it with natural colours in a set at some point. Hopefully the moulds aren't just designed for transparent plastic but are compatible with other types of plastic that Lego use as well.- 5,738 replies

Wow that's actually a really interesting way to breakdown how much each film has been covered by Lego, thanks for sharing that. It is weird how Half-Blood Prince seems to be getting more coverage than Order of the Phoenix as I always thought it would be the other way around due to OotP having a faster pace and being more action-packed than HBP, which focuses a bit more on the teenage drama before the darkness of Deathly Hallows. It's also really annoying how there's no thestrals on the horizon either Also it's very far out but seeing the films in lego broken down like this made me think that next year we might have a smaller wave for Deathly Hallows like the 2011 sets, and then sets from other films like Privet Drive this year. -

Oh yeah that does seem a lot more obvious now I think about it . I hadn't even thought about the shops being connected like the different Hogwarts sets are to each other that makes loads of sense. -
Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I think there's three possible versions of Ron we could get: Quidditch, casual (which might fit more with the Slug club figures) or in Hogwarts robes. I also think whichever one it is it would be designed to fit with Lavender's minifigure and as she's more of an obscure character she'll be put into Hogwarts robes just to be more recognisable. Although a Ron in quidditch robes could fit with a Lavender minifigure like this, if Draco (judging by the leaked Slytherin torso) and Lavender are both in Hogwarts uniforms he would be too. This HBP uniformed Ron could also then be put with the OotP Room of Requirement Harry and Hermione minifigures in their uniforms, which isn't perfect but as they are all in the same wave and least they should be pretty consistent. Pins makes me think of Madame Malkin's, the wizarding clothing shop. There was a scene in there in the Half-Blood Prince book where Draco was complaining about the pins for his clothes fitting, and got very edgy when the shopowner almost pulled up the sleeve on his arm with the Dark Mark. The shop is quite distinctive with a purple front so that could look quite cool. Also for playfeatures I think it could be Ollivander's shop front when the Death Eaters attack it. Hopefully it includes masked Death Eater figures! -
Minions 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I do actually really like how the Minions are constructed, there's a lot of customisation opportunity there! (and not to just to make them look possessed). Honestly it does kinda sound like a fun idea to get a couple of the figures just because. Just by getting the bike and lair, the two smallest sets, you get all four of the minifigures in their standard clothes. However, I've just seen Just2Good's review of the bike and don't really like the build and the lair would have useful pieces if it wasn't for the printed elements. I have a feeling I'll get the temple set as an impulse buy at some point, whenever that comes out... -

Yeah I definitely prefer the inclusion of Luna in the Room of Requirement just for more minifigures in Ravenclaw torsos, I stupidly only got one of the Cho Chang CMF figure so am glad I get to add someone else who's visually from her house. Also I'm really intrigued by the Privet Drive set and how large it will be. Judging by the piece count it should be quite a substantial build but a lot of buildings in licensed sets are usually quite shallow. I'm really only expecting the front of the house, I doubt we'd get the back with the conservatory or anything like that. Maybe it will have a feature similar to the 2010 Burrow set with a few plates sticking out without walls to give it a larger interior. That way they could include the kitchen and living room space so they can recreate Dobby dropping to cake (just on the Dursleys instead of their guests like in the film) -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Darth Shadowthrone replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A Greek mythology line would be so good, especially with how many brickbuilt creatures Lego has been doing for ninjago and Harry Potter. Just imagining sets like the Hydra, Argo or Troy is too exciting. Sadly there really seems to be an absence of classical figures recently. The closest I’ve got is Hercules from the Disney CMF -

Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I doubt we'd get any more individual shops after the Diagon Alley set but I definitely don't see a rail system and a dragon included it what will probably be a very display-oriented D2C. As the vaults and rail carts definitely wouldn't fit into the exterior of Gringotts unless it looked like the D2C Batcave or the Rancor Cage under Jabba's Palace I wouldn't be surprised if two sets are produced with no marketing suggesting they be put together. -

I'd love a Great Devourer just because I like giant Lego snakes! Also the fire serpent from last year was really good as well. -

Privet Drive is definitely going to include the car, multiple people have confirmed it . Also Ron would make no sense being included without it. -
Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to MandyNeko's topic in LEGO Licensed
Just seen it on legoleaks, what a fun a little set! It looks almost more dense than the others apart from Bowser's Castle, it looks like there's lot of substantial bricks involved. The mole looks a bit 1-dimensional to me with the print but I just really like seeing those arm pieces that can connect to bricks. I can't wait to see what the other small sets look like, hopefully they include fun printed elements like these. -
Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to MandyNeko's topic in LEGO Licensed
It looks to me that the starter set and Bowser's Castle set are different in that you get a 'whole' level with them: the figure, the tunnel as a starting point and the flag as the finishing line. That's why both sets have a Mario figure, so that you don't have to get another set to play through a level in Lego. These will probably be the exception, with the others being expansion sets that need at least 1 other set for a whole level. Also is this the 'Leaf' theme that had rumoured £4 blind bags and £10 sets? I'd be interested to see what those came with. Maybe the blindbags could have powerups that the Mario figure can sense and maybe a unique hazard build, while the £10 sets come with unique buildable figures (which are still variations of the buildable characters in other sets) -

They might be different prints tho, like the Hogwarts robes in the first CMF series all being variations. Also this might be a bit controversial but I would much rather more Slytherin robes than Draco’s black suit. Although it looked really cool in the film I don’t think it would translate into Lego as well and Hogwarts uniform would be a better print
