Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you that's a really useful bit of context. I'll make sure to keep my expectations in check, I did wonder if a flying Hedwig in Privet Drive made sense considering she's locked in her cage. -

This theme sounds really intriguing! Looking through the knockoff brand's Monkey King theme I'd say the most exciting thing for me is the minifigures, if they're all more mythological/animal based and not human then this could be a really good chance to pick up some great unique minifigures that are useful for other settings. -

I think Lego could just make it as an add-on to the existing castle so it looks normal to the outside but has a walled-off Chamber on the inside that is only accessible from a trapdoor on an upper floor. However that would need a bit of suspension of disbelief when added to the rest of the castle. Also with the rumours of a new flying owl mould could it be possibly being made as a tie-in for the buildable hedwig set? Maybe the brick built version can also extend its wings. Flying owls is exciting anyway tho, hopefully we get an Owlery at some point -

I'm not surprised to see that the UCS Republic Gunship won, I have the 2013 version so it will be interesting to see what techniques this one will use being at least twice as big. Also does anyone else think that as it probably won't be minifigure scale that it won't have the opening doors function? I wouldn't be surprised if the doors were permanently closed as part of the building process instead of having an out-of-proportion troop deck. -

I completely agree with this, the theme doesn't seem to be going anywhere especially with more potential Fantastic Beasts tie-ins from next year. Also now they've included Privet Drive in a wave mostly centred on later films they've showed that we can maybe start getting 1 or 2 fill-in sets instead of having to wait for a whole new wave on the first films. Also this isn't like Star Wars where there's 20 sets a year, Lego are showing that they want to take their time with this theme. I say lets be patient and enjoy what we're getting at the moment, instead of worrying that other sets might not be made in the future. -

Oh wow I can't believe I forgot about the Thestrals!! I've been completely blindsided by the excitement about the confirmed sets so far but they were one of the things I was most anticipating this wave. I was really hoping there was a chance of a baby Thestral but seeing as we're already getting two other sets with Luna I doubt they will make it. Maybe a Thestral could be thrown into the Astronomy Tower set, even though it's mostly centred around Half-Blood Prince. Or they could be in an exclusive Ministry set we don't know about yet. Anyway so far this wave might be the most exciting one yet for me the more I think about it. The Grawp set will be a definite buy just for the Centaurs and I know I just won't be able to resist the temptation to buy the iconic Privet Drive. As a collector of Harry Potter since the Prisoner of Azkaban waves in 2004 I think this could become my favourite wave just because of how much is being included that hasn't been in sets before - Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood prince are finally getting the representation they deserve! -
What if Lego just choose the most popular archetypes from the first few series (or the ones they think are the most popular)? It sounds to me like not all the series is going to be a remake and it definitely won't be a full 1:1 replica of the first series. I remember years back Lego made a pack of 4/5 minifigures from various series that they thought were the most popular, including the CMF elf. Maybe it'll be something like that?

I think the absence of Dumbledore in this wave so far is the most prominent omission considering how important he is in HBP. Which means we definitely should be getting 1 or 2 extra sets, one of which will hopefully include him. Inferi or Ministry of Magic we come! Also that if the D2C is a miniature Diagon Alley at the same scale as Hogwarts? Perhaps the giveaway was a test of the concept -

Oh no what if Aunt Marge comes in the CMF series she could even come with a torso attachment like the minifigure of Bombur, the fat dwarf from the Hobbit and include her dog. Considering how the last series complemented the sets with additional figures I'm worried this is now a serious possibility -

Looking at that clip it almost looks like the Mosasaurus has the Indominus Rex/Carnotosaurus moulded body with the spines. What if they re-used that body piece, attached flippers to where the arms and legs should go and made a new head and tail mould? Or would that look really stupid aha -

Personally I think it'd be so much more interesting if it came with some Death Eaters, considering that scene is the last time we see masked Death Eaters in any of the films! Also the plot of HBP mostly revolves around Draco trying to bring them into the castle (well, and killing Dumbledore lol) so the addition of Death Eaters would make for many more interesting play scenarios! It's a shame as well as I doubt the CMF could include generic figures like the Death Eater from the graveyard. My ideal scenario would be that two generic Death Eaters are included in a ministry set and then masked variants of Lucius or Bellatrix can come in the CMF - that way Lucius could have a new mould for the snake on his cane! -

If we’re getting a new Dobby figure in the Privet Drive Set what do you guys think are the chances of him having a different facial printed expression to the CMF? Like maybe more evil/scheming with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. The closest example I can think of is the Azog figure from the Hobbit line who had different facial expressions on a moulded head -

I kinda agree with you about the T Rex body, the Allosaurus does look a bit too scrawny with the Baryonix body. However I do like how Lego has kept it in scale with the Tyrannosaurus. Also I've just seen on the City thread that there's a marine exploration subtheme coming in the summer. Maybe they've managed to make both a whale and a Mosasaurus by using common pieces such as the body or flippers but in different configurations? -

In terms of which dinosaurs could come in which set I think: Set 1: the leaked baby Triceratops Set 2: the Allosaurus (same pieces as Baryonix but with a new head) Set 3: the Mosasaurus. Could it come with an additional Dino as well considering the price point?! Set 4 (4+) recolour of a raptor, pterodactyl or dilophosaurus Also what do you guys think about the chance of getting the baby raptors from the T. rex battle but scattered throughout the sets? -

I'd be interested in seeing that, I've been wondering how well the different armour colours work with one another -

Do you have a local WHSmith? That's where I usually find new minifigure series though failing that they're often in Waterstones quite early as well -

Yeah that's something I realised as well when I had both Hagrid's Hut and Expecto Patronum together: it's the one scene you can display two Harry's in the same scene! It's the one reason I wasn't annoyed that there were 3 identical Harry minifigures this wave as now two of them can be for the time travel and I gave the other Hogwarts uniform to go with my CMF Ron. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Darth Shadowthrone replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've just seen on Brickset that the DC series is going to be £3.50 each which is a bit annoying but I wasn't planning on getting many of the DC bags anyway. Still, that's definitely going to have an impact on my wallet over time with the upcoming Series 20 and especially with Wizarding World One thing I'm hoping for is that it means Lego are going to be even more generous with their accessories in the upcoming series. We got absolutely spoiled for animals last series so hopefully that continues plus I wouldn't be surprised if Lego are no longer worried about a slightly higher piece count with brick-built accessories (what's the highest piece count a minifigure has had? Maybe Jack Skellington?) I guess we'll just have to wait and see! -

Just seen on Brickset that the minifigures are going to be £3.50 in the UK! That's a bit of a surprise as I thought it was only changing in America. Luckily everyone's comments on here have given me a bit of perspective so I'm just glad there hasn't been as much of a price increase as in the states. Still hopefully it will help me be selective as I usually have a problem where everyone time I go for a big shop I'll pick up a minifigure or two. My definite buys are Superman, Batman and Aquaman but I have the feeling I might be in the mood for an impulse purchase at some point and shell out for Wonder Woman, Huntress and maybe Joker too! -

My theory is that these characters are from later on in the season as another group of Mandos which is why Lego tried to keep them hidden I’m getting at least 2! I’ve just noticed that apart from being the same colour pieces as torsos the legs do not continue printing down from the torso because of the belt, so hopefully it should be easy to swap their helmets and legs around to make even more unique Mandos. -

I'm already looking at their different legs and torso prints and wondering about mixing them up if I get multiples of the set to create different looking characters! I like the ones with blue and green colour schemes as I can mix them up with the old Deathwatch Mandalorians as well! Honestly I think we are going to get a LOT more Mandalorian sets in the summer - I think they are cautious about TV tie-in sets after Rebels and Resistance but will definitely capitalise on how popular Mandalorians are -

Wow that set is definitely not based on Episode 3! Completely different terrain, vehicles and characters. Either Lego just made it up or the reason it hasn't been officially revealed is it's from later on in the series . Awesome selection regardless, great for customising more unique Mandalorians! -

This is really interesting news about there being no identifiable Mandos. I can't help but think that Lego were only shown concept art or footage of certain non-spoilery Mandalorian characters or wanted to save the unique Mandalorians for sets later down the line (which would be very like them considering how they're releasing the Knights of Ren over three separate waves). I don't actually mind as because of the popularity of the series we'll definitely get more sets later on which means more unique Mandalorian figures - seriously any toys based on this series are going to sell like hot cakes. -

It’s hard to tell from these descriptions but do any of the Mandos look like the main character, Heavy or Smith from the show?
