Wow. Some really great piece usage! The finger hinge bricks are awesome! Also loved your creative tree tops :O Well done and good luck!

It's not just your sig that's annoying Too bad the sig rule wasn't by surface area... cause I'd rather have like 5 smaller thumbs than three gianormous pics (less than 200px tall).

Welcome to EB from Toronto! (go leafs!) Kingdoms is a great line - I know I picked up 'a few' sets ;)

What's really awesome. I love how formidable it looks on the front, then all the lovely little action bits in the back. Really well done!

.... you mean Blernsball. Now that that's out of the way. FUN MOC! Really nice work with the purple offset jumper plates. I'll have to steal remember to use that some time. I have a vague recollection of the ambulance, before I opened this thread, but when I saw it - instantly recognizable. Nice build, not much I can offer suggestion about. Only thing that you could possibly change is the 1x1 plate on the door - maybe use a clip of some sort so you get a door handle? PS - nice Leela ;) (but why is she topless in the render?)

DaMaximus great start on challenge 3! I hope to see more :) Dugal Sorry to hear what happened. Hopefully you'll get it sorted out and be back in no time! We'll be here in the mean time :) Master Cartographer Gex What a great story and build. I love the the forced perspective and the window. Tower Master Erudhalion Your wonders never cease. And you love to make a grand entrance with your MOCs :D The integrated arch is absolutely fantastic. And great use of gold accents. That's a great wish list of people of possible lecturers ... perhaps we should start reaching out. Though I'm not sure if I'm qualified as Micro guy... I've only built THREE micros in my life. And they were within the last month... there's a few others over in Mitgardia that might have a better handle than I! Let's let DC set everything up. and we'll just sit back and enjoy Mikel that spider! You said LEGO had made brick built spiders... but never any with such ... actual accurate creepiness - I feel arachnophobia kicking in. AHH! quick look away! Amelia! welcome back m'dear! and you HAVE BEEN BUSY! That's a great looking curved building! And I love the tree canopy letting just that light streaking though... I'm not sure why you'd want photography tips, it looks like you have it covered* They never have 1x2 tan bricks at my store(s) :( *more on photography later. DaMaximus Nice freebuild! I don't know why... and but there's something about that door way... and how the light is *JUST* hitting it right that it feels SOOO ominous.... The over all structure is nice. It's repetitive - but in a good way. Like how a real building could be constructed. I like how you topped the ramparts with gold /w jump plates. My only thought is maybe a splash more colour. or something to break up the white or tan areas. Like a line of (dark) tan plates breaking up the white (where the flag is on the first section, for instance). It's just the over all building is a bit too light/bright - some darker contrasts I think might be pleasing to the eye. And I love the interiors.... so much fun activities going down at Mpya Stedo! -- OH WOW! Nice wall! heh. I guess you already read my mind about adding a row of tan ... so do all your Mpya Stedo builds (eventually) connect together? I think you can give Zcerbrus a run for his money if you keep this up Master Cartographer Gex , my friend, I hear you about your work problems and this whole finishing deadline... Keep in mind a JOUST and the guild's reputation is at stake! What I would suggest is start with the LAST scene first.... build that, and then start building the smaller scenes leading up to it. So if you don't finish the smaller ones you still have the main moc done.... If you need some ideas I'm sure we can think of something for you ;) Tower Lord Wahil that's a great idea! I would suggest trying to do some funky lighting if your waterfall is trans... how cool would it be to have light from behind the falls? -- So I was giving this a bit of thought - as part of Challenge three, I (anyone else?) will be offering my Photoshop skills (as limited as they are) to help anyone crop out pictures of their MOCS. It's not much but it might give us a few more points So if you can get your mocs done early, I will be happy to try to crop out the main picture of your MOC and make it all fancy and snazzy! -
Hehe cute. How did you make up the center core of the bot? 4 headlight bricks? This I think the smallest Think tank I've seen... and one of the most fun too You should have put a minifig beside it for scale :) Edit: Okay this was sooooo cool I had to do my own ;) Mini Think Tank by Si-MOCs, on Flickr

Great story (so far?) ... and the moc is lovely. Great window and fantastic forced perspective. The moon light reflection is great :) Too bad you missed the myth challenge. :( This would have been great

Batmobile hands down. The others are well built, but the batmobile has some great style and a unique style in it's own. Where as the other two is slightly more 'standard' of the batman universe.

Ahh... they don't come in bley in the 'real' world... I would say 50-50 But it would definitely be cool to share with others how it was done -
Thanks for the comments... Haven't you ever looked at cities from really high up? they are weird looking This won't be in a store... it won't fit the window If you ever come out to the show you'll see it :) and Godzilla is just having a little snack :D I was really afraid the letters wouldn't come out and all my efforts wasted...

I like the ship :) You're getting quite good at building those. -
Si-Moc's Micro City The utopian city of ToroLUG is the home of the builders of tomorrow. Unfretted by reality, these brave souls build the impossible of the imagination. From the depths of dark space, to the parallel ABS recations of current day, to the past fantasies of forgotten times - nothing is outside their reach. Flickr

Lovely work. Can't wait to check it out :) Love the trans med blue and dark bley colour scheme. And the Rook City backdrop works really nice from a low angle. And the little sail boat is inspired.

Thanks a lot :) As for colours it's almost always dark/light bley and whatever accent colour I have lots of slopes for Go ahead and lock it... I'll just unlock it

Firstly. That is one of the COOLEST ways to display your mocs / LDD files I've seen. That alone gets a from me! As for the fleet it self - great colour scheme - great combo And very nice builds. I particularly #2 - but what piece is the engine made from? Really great stuff - and seriously fantastic presentation -
... WOW. At first I was surprised that you would have the audacity to attempt this. But WOW. I think you did an incredible job You really captured the feel and the beauty that was the original. And the working water was fantastic. No spinning wheel though? Seriously bravo - well done!

*salute* You will be missed. Thank you for your years of service and wish you best of luck in the future!

Master Cartographer Gex - Don't worry about updating the maps unless there is a need ;) Interesting list you have compiled... I agree with what others said. The only other thought/idea I have is ... 'nice piece use' or NPU design... ie build designs out of an interesting piece/different usage. EG my entire Guild Hall came out of the realization that you can flip those arches side ways. Draconus' throne room was snotted/sideways arches... etc I assume 'Angled' builds you mean things rotated on a stud and not built at standard 90 degrees? good list - but I'm not sure if we need to give points for usage... if anything (as Gabe mentioned) everyone should keep a list and see how many you can get in a build - as more technique will equate to more interesting builds and MORE POINTS! (and maybe Jousts!). The other thought I had is if people keep the list and see if they can use every technique through the year in a guild build... in fact I think I might just do that My dear Rasputin,The bear may make another appearance... but not for awhile... As for the little folk... look around! *raises mug* this finest brew was concocted by one such fine folk! And the beer-battered griffen wings... - you guessed it! That's Steve's speciality. Tower Master Erudhalion - Your MOCS are always so inspired. Such variety and ingenuity ... fabulous work ... as always. As for feedback - I wouldn't necessarily say feedback isn't useful - I agree it isn't even close to the best way to improve your skills. Usually I tend to be my own harshest critic and I can 'see' where I went wrong or where I ran out of this or was frankly lazy... (and once images are posted I don't know how many times I look back and be like - damn why didn't I do that?) - but at the same time feedback both early WIP and final product - can give people ideas - or where things could work better or some inspiration/better ideas. It may or may not help you build as a better builder per se - but I find it drives me to do better or opens up new 'directions' when I discuss my works with people (both WIP and finished). It's almost like proof reading - it's really hard to proof read your own work. You get a better finished product if someone looks over it - but you're likely to make the same mistake next build. ;) It's interesting you pointed out building scale - I was literally day dreaming about that at work today... ever since I did the Force Prospective shot (and consequently my first Micro) I've been on a micro kick! I've did my first micro ship, and just finished my first Micro City (sci-fi - sorry guildies!). And I was actually starting thinking of possible builds to do the reverse - the large scale something - like Mike Doyle's houses! - Great minds think a like. Gabe, NM & Kayne I think this Kaliphlin building idea has some wings. Perhaps instead of badges (actually they're called ribbons) we could have some brick built ribbons or something and as you hit more techniques you get to build a bigger ribbon or something. My other thought is I would love to have some guest lecturers- kinda like mini-DC tutorials - but only on a specific technique. Sure we might 'know' about a technique - but how do you REALLY use it? and effectively ? Like we all know we can stack dots for walls... but DC took it a step further and explained the proper usage and how to really work with it... Let's have a thought on this and see where it can go... maybe we want to make this a Historica wide inititive. -
Awesome! So many wonderful micros! Impressive set you have there. I took me forever to build just one, I can't imagine 6 different ones! Do you always draw out your designs? I've never tried it, I'm more of an organic builder - I have a general idea in my head and it just flows... so it's always interesting to me to see how other builder's thought processes work. Keep up the good work! Both great shows.

Last day to vote! I will close shop and announce tonight! and just so I don't superfluously bump... A late, yet fantastic story by Erudhalion (Gabe) - The tale of Erudhalion and the water horse Gabe, you were purposefullly late so that someone else can have the spotlight ... right?
-
It could work like that too... Stories are just like LEGO you can make up whatever you want... Thanks Macoco! Yeah, you Glittery C-BEAMS will getcha every time!

Sorry I didn't realize this was also Blacktron My bad. I only knew the old one. I always thought the 'new' one was just assorted SP3 villains - I didn't realize they were called blacktrons. Learn something new everyday
