ToroLUG got asked about 3 weeks ago bring some LEGO to the annual Star Wars Day charity event for Sick Kids Hospital - with that in mind we built the following... EVERYTHING but the mosaics and droid factory were built from scratch... (I thought about putting this in events... but I figured since it was ALL Star Wars it made more sense here). Enjoy!

Well this was provided by LEGO to build the pattern - so we got little 6x6 plates that had the colours of the 1x1 bricks spray painted on it. You finish a 6x6 plate -then goes into the big board! These were ALL standard LEGO pieces - entirely 1x1s and 6x6 plates Though at the end cause we were rushing we just filled things in by eye. SHHH

What a piece of junk. Seriously - very cool stuff ! The sails are cool - but I love those eastern cannons! Well done !

The wings do fold up! Though not well :( The used to fold up great but after I added all the steam-greeble it doesn't anymore... I decided the cool look was cooler than functionality - so I left it as is. -- Haahh told you guys I was a steampunk noob - I forgot the steam! Can we pretend that the ship is docked and not powered up? Okay I'll go back tonight and add some steam... I think I have a few ideas... Hopefully I can make it work.

I literally whistled when I saw this. Simply gorgeous! Fantastic smooth lines and awesome colour blocking... and the fact that it's modular... really great job! I can't come up with a single suggestion to improve this! except make more ! ;)

I love the name! Really great seeing how people build their SHIPs (though I have been secretly stalking this build on flickr) - surprisingly? I have never built one - though I have longed to do it for awhile. So seeing posts like this is really inspirational for me. SHIP questions: How stable it is? it looks like you were able to pick it up entirely and move it on the table? Does this come part? are you planning on transporting this anywhere / is it possible?

D'oh! I forgot to build one of these... -- Beautiful build! you really captured that insect feel. The trans blue wings are so goregous. That red printed/stickered black brick in the back adds such a small yet awesome detail. Really nicely done. I think you'll do well on the contest - Good luck!~

I agree... it's a very nice tank, but it's not THAT sci-fi-ish. Though I suppose if you added a marine or two it'll totally fit Also great use of the 1x3x2 angled slopes!

This is adorable. I also like the soft focus on the background. Makes for a splendid shot! I know you didn't do it on purpose, but the 2nd picture where the light is reflected makes a perfect sun!

Neat. I have never read any Turtledove, though I had a bunch of his books, and I almost got to meet him at a con once (by the time I realize he was there, it was too late).... so I can't comment on the authenticity or accuracy for this build... but I can comment on the build... Not much to add. It's fairly clean and well built moc. The cannon is nice - as is the palm tree usage Only suggestion I could make is maybe add some rippled water, or change the tan to add in a bit more texture... but that's really nit picking... the focus of the moc is the two guys - not the base.

I am reporting this thread. This is unsuitable for all audiences. Detailed shots are great! You had _way_ too much fun with this.
