Sir Anturio a new traveller! Most humble welcomes!! Please come sit, grab a flagon of mead, and tell us of your dragon slaying adventures! Mikel Kalores That looks wonderful! I love the plant monster! and that nice rock wall. Tower Master Erudhalion Time is short! But I have faith that the extra week is enough for you to accomplish the task at hand! Yakob old friend! I you have been missed- I'm sure you're were off in some great adventures in the sky... and what adventures you must have had- coming back with another wonderful brick built creation! Reminder if you need some photoshop help for the last challenge - get your builds done early! -
MOC: FNS Hawkwing (redux) and RNJS Tony Soprano
Si-MOCs replied to Laura Beinbrech's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice ships! I love the dwarf in Soprano crew The MMM is also pretty fun looking.... I wouldn't want to go against that! Though I think the light bley looks a bit better than the dark... The dark is a bit ... well too dark Thoughts: You have a nice blue hull... but nothing else is blue! You should throw in some blue highlights somewhere ... doesn't have to be much - but just a few spots... otherwise it looks like you used the blue hull simply because you had a blue hull My other thought is that if it's 2111 - they should be more 'futuristic' - these look pretty similar to current day cruisers... maybe add more slopes and angle the ship more? like those fancy stealth ships they now have? I definitely liked the backstory and figs - I love hearing other people's build up their own little worlds. -
Awesome job! The light bricks really add a lot to this... not over shadows but just that little touch - I'm glad you went to the extra effort! Also great selection of colours to go with the Dark Blue Galaxy patrols... any thought of building more Vignettes?

Ambitious! wow! And a fantastic idea.... I LOVED SC ... But I don't recognize the map ? or would copying a map be TOOO geeky? I like the little micro city and the terrans buildings the best - and the rock work is nice. As I look through it - I wonder if maybe it's TOO ambitious? That's an awful lot of space you're trying to cover... maybe try building up one or two baseplates first with a terran base? then expand outwards? In the past when I tried to build really big I find I run out of steam ... I do areas that are really cool and fantastic - then I get lazy and just fill in big spaces cause I have so much room to fill up. Though I am very eager to see the protoss and zerg bases.... makes me want to build one too

First off, Welcome to EB! I'm not sure what help I can offer you... you have done a pretty bang up job! The build is nice. it's nicely photographed, and the box is awesome! Though I note you're missing figs... (they appear only on the box!)

you need your wife to tell you that? I really like Version two - it's really nice. I can totally hear the ZVROOOOMOMM engine noises in my head

:( first time since 96 that a Canadian team hasn't made it to the second round... but man was that a good game... King Henry was incredible...

I wish we bought a fire truck! We are currently in the requirement gathering phase - we investigating vehicles with sufficient LEGO capacity to get Brickworld - we would be remiss if we did not consider Firetrucks.

Sharp colours! Great use of those orange wings. There's a lot to like here... the colour blocking, the interesting design, the good piece use... As for suggestions - I KNOW it's a ramjet ... but I can't help but want to angle the front wings slightly for a sleeker look (yes I know that defeats the purpose, but aesthetically it'd be cooler). And the cockpit to main fuselage section seems a bit abrupt with the 90 degree turn... maybe add some slope or something there/ or even the orange technic wing if you have more?
-
Comes with side AND rear scene lights! From Ricecracker - this was one of many pros we made up for buying a firetruck to use as a LUG Brickworld Lego hauling pimp mobile.

Maybe I will... I've built similar ones before... TEAM BLUE by Si-MOCs, on Flickr I did like Avatar a lot ... though I would think a lot of the stylings probably came from Aliens - which is another Cameron movie... Good idea on the making this a theme.... it would make a great little mini display set!

Opps! missed the post - Big Congrats and Big Clap to Big Cam! or should I say Admiral Big Cam? /salute

I haven't heard any actual rumours of Luongo to the Leafs - but I wouldn't be surpised... Leafs always love big names on their declines.... I DID hear that Luongo was willing to wave his no-trade clause if asked... -- I did see Alfredsson's freakout. I liked it. It's probably the most emotional I've seen him... ever. That's what the playoffs are about... passion!

The Marine Quadrotor Gunship provides a stable weapon launch platform to support ground troops. It also serves as an exfiltration vehicle when the need arises. The directional pulse rotators allows the Gunship to hover or reach speeds excess of 500mph in standard Earth Atmosphere. It was one of my flickr buddy's birthday today, and he wanted a Quadrotor ship for some reason... So I totally procrastinated on all my other builds/duties and built this instead

S.i.D. Seriously. Incredibly. Delicious. I love the articulation in the legs... it gives it a seriously neat pose. ... all I can think of is: "DROP YOUR WEAPON. YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY" Isn't he a History builder?

Sorry! I assumed you were interested getting the whole 'package' that included the backing - which would be distinct between cons. But if you're interested in simply the then my point is mute. Sorry again - the point I was trying to make is that a lot of the collectable dealers at comicbook conventions deal with exclusives - and charge premium for them - thus it makes business sense to open up the sales to online fans who aren't going to the conventions. LEGO on the other hand is NOT into that same market - they're still a toy company - their activities at these cons aren't money making opportunities - it's about getting press and hype about upcoming releases - hence why they GIVE away the figs opposed to selling them. Yes LEGO now has "collectable minifigs" but really they're mass produced single runs - not really the same league as say a fancy masterpiece transformer variant that is in the 100 or 1000's in quantity. In my opinion - yeah it'd be great - I'd totally buy them if they were offered - but it's probably more hassle than it's worth for LEGO to try to do something like ...
-
If anything I would suggest the opposite. If LEGO did more shows, there'd be even MORE rare figures, as they do a special one for EACH con. EG SDCC had Green Lantern and fancy Batman NYCC had Superman.... If they started going to more cons, they would likely create even MORE exclusive figures - that would be very expensive to get. While it's possible that LEGO start releasing some of these online - I don't think they're in the same position as some of the regular 'con' companies - those companies make their money off the rabid fans - those rabid fans may or may not be able to make the exclusive cons - so they market them online. LEGO on the other hand (despite what we may think) are marketed towards children...
