  1. Thanks SeaKing61, you're too kind. Thanks Freddie, An office balcony... Have to think about it. The centerpiece, I guess is a matter of taste. I like it as it is, I actually did it on purpose, but I can imagine you differ a bit. Thanks Spyder, Its a matter of stacking bricks and keep redoing everything untill you are satisfied with a part. Thanks WhiteFang, I got a spot on the map. Thanks for the compliment Bob the Construction Man, yeah the map now needs some space for the rail track as well. Maybe it can run along the edge of the map. But i dont want to go to the 9V, 12V, battery, metal/ plastic / middle-power rail discussion in regards to the map. Thanks for the compliment prateek. Thanks mania3, Can't wait for that set to hit the shelfs. Thanks for the compliment Panda9001100. Thanks Captain Zuloo, MOC genius.. you're too kind. Although, to be honoust I feel there are better skilled MOCcers on the forum. The white line... Hmm, thanks for the tip! I'm contemplating replacing them with tiles. Here in the Netherlands the edge of the platform is often marked by a lighter/white line or an alternating white line slightly away form the edge, or both. The red doors... I have a large stack of them in red, brown, rown, white and some other color, but they are hidden somewhere in a large pile. I chose red, because it made for an interesting color variation. Have to think about the other colors though. Kind regards, Teddy
  2. Dear all, this saturday I build a MOC for the community build. I tried to comply with the design rules as can be seen in Thrash his map. Although, I'm not sure there was space reserved for this. Any feedback and comments are welcome. Kind regards, Teddy <Edit: I've made a minor update to the facade, an extra door and some additional windows at the top row just above the door. > <Edit: Took some photos of the station with better lighting> <Edit: used some software to edit the first photo> <minor update: tiled platform stripe. Night photos> <old studded stripe:> http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...dscf0904nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...dscf0905nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...dscf0906nr2.jpg old photos: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...n/0000main2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2332nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2333nt2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2334nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2327nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2330nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2336nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2347nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2348nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2341nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2342nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2343nr2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvan...-09_2352nr2.jpg
  3. Hi errorist! Finally some photos. The start looks great and really promissing. Are you planning to re-use the older above the waterline parts you already build? Or are you starting everything from scratch? Keep it up. We have a deadline to meet in 2010. Kind regards, Teddy
  4. Verry well done Medieval_total_lego! And thanks for the photos of your shelf. Your medieval city is comming along nicely. Can't wait to see them in a proper layout. Keep it up. Kind regards, Teddy
  5. Dear Trash, thanks for your map! Thanks Hinkley and WhiteFang for keeping this community project alive , while our fearless leader is on a break. I guess Thrash his map settles the street plates vs Cafe corner debate in favour of option 1: Aliencat, I'm really curious what you will be building on the industrial zones. As far as my MOCs, I only have this firestation at the moment, which would qualify for the standard. Given I replace the side walk plates by tiles. My inspiration is a bit down at the momen. So I will have a long thought of what else I might be able to contribute. Kind regards, Teddy
  6. Dear all, personally I feel option 1 will be the most practical. We could connect the roadplates via the tiles. If a builder feels he should add a little extra pavement on his sector that will add to the realism . As for balconies, I dont think that should be a problem given they dont have too much overhang (max 4 studs?) and are above the ground floor (at least 6 bricks above pavement level). Kind regards, Teddy
  7. Dear WhiteFang, I was pointing to these two options as depicted below: Were in option 1 the roads include pavement and are also 32 x 32 modules. Like in regular Lego base plates. Or option 2 which is cafe corner style where the pavement is part of the 32 x 32 of the building and the roads are smaller modules. In my opinion option 1 is preferable. But from the discussion in both topics it was not clear which one we would use. I'm trying to clearify this. Kind regards, Teddy
  8. Dear Hinkley, I was only remarking upon previous posts in the other topic and trying to get some clearity. It was not clear in that discussion if the pavement is part of the building module or a road module. I suggested we should come to some consensus. To avoid confussion. Please read my reply in the other topic. I double posted in the two topics to keep the discussion evolving in the same direction in both topics and to prevent people from going nuts. I dont have the power to merge topics. Kind regards, Teddy <edit: please reply in the other topic regarding the roads and pavement. for clearity I put this picture in that topic to let you see what I'm talking about>
  9. Dear Hinckley, I was refering to the discussion we had regarding pavement in which it was not clear weather it is part of the building module or a raod module. Cafe corner implies part of the building module. I'm only suggesting that that would not be practical for sertain members and that pavement should be part of a road module. As for the roads. I was replying to this comment: I was not introducing this nor making a dissision, but remarking the pros and cons. Please don't shoot the messenger. I'm just trying to get things clear. kind regards, Teddy
  10. For real? I should sell my old stuff and make a banger! No, I could never part with me old stuff for some ducats....
  11. Dear all, personally I think planning a larger layout will be easier if we would introduce a standard road module including pavement/sidewalks/foothpath/aussi-something... This way we could allow a bit more flexibility in the use of the room for the buildinds on the 16 x 16 and 32 x 32 rooms on which to build them. Without the need to use up additional space for the pavement/sidewalks/footh.... And allowing people to enter without them needing to make a pavement. Kind regards, Teddy Something I put in the Poll topic. But since the discussion is running allong in two topics I'll post a copy here. Kind regards, Teddy
  12. Dear all, I have another more practical question: - If we are going to use SNOT roads, which will at least be one stud high this requires the entrances of the buildings to be raised. - If we would make SNOT roads 2 studs thick the entrances need to raise to at least 5 plates height. Somehow I think we should find a consensus on this matter. Before we can start any construction. Kind regards, Teddy <edit: If we use standard LEGO road plates this problem does not occur, in the sence that the door should be one plate heigh due to the pavement . Question than is which LEGO roadplate would we use. They tend to be verry different. >
  13. Dear all, another option could be to make the side-walks/ footpaths/ juckfozzer part of a road mudule. Thus freeing up more space on the 16 x16 and 32 x 32 base plates for building. And this would also allow people who do not have an appropriate amount of dark (bley) grey tiles to build sections for the community town. Just my two cents. Teddy
  14. Sorry to mess things up, but I'm a bit confused. We could still build the side walks on the plain road plates right? So I would like to add to the poll: - do we use road plates, or custom made roads? Kind regards, Teddy
  15. Thanks for the poll Hinkley! A sidewalk is a special Michael Jackson move.
  16. Dear Medieval_total_lego, I saw your work on CC. This is great all round. Keep it up. Kind regards, Teddy P.S. Have you gotten the chance to photograph all your wonderfull MOCs together?
  17. Personally, I think the more people who can connect the better. Maybe we can come up with a layout that has both?
  18. Dear Wouwie and Skipper24, Congratulations on your respective promotions. Kind regards, Teddy
  19. Hi WetWired, Interesting use of parts for the greebles of the facade. I really like the PETS sign, and the little corner you made to put it on. Can't wait for the finished product. Keep it up. Kind regards, Teddy
  20. Maybe that is the best option, but I haven't given it much thought yet. We could ask a nice admin to put up a poll to see what is the most popular option? Also because I'm not aware if most people adher to the Cafe Corner style or use roadplates. And it would be nice if we could hook up as many people as possible. <edit: Buildings at a community gathering that is> Kind regards, Teddy
  21. Oeh, this sounds exciting! For the roads there are two options: -1. Standard road plates -2. Costum made roads. I'm not sure which one to favor. But if the build will be on the 32 x 32 standard I would suggest standard roadplates with a tiled pavement? Allowing the facades to be build all the way on the front of the 32 x 32 base plates. If this is desirable ofcourse. If the choice would be to use the Cafe Corner standard then custum made roads might be preferable to prevent the pavements from becomming huge. Just my two cents for now. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. oehh..., old torsos of redcoats. Ai...., heavily over priced.
  23. Thanks Cap'n Blackmoor, you're too kind. Kind regards, Teddy
  24. Dear DNL, I really love the use of the different shaded of brown, rown and dark brown. And the fact you grew the trees of the first stage to a larger version. Just all round outstanding design and work. Kind regards, Teddy
  25. He BlueBard, I love the interior and exterior you did of the ground floor. The back door is a brilliant touch as well. The roof looks a bit funky to me. I love the facade part with the parrot, though. Did you use an existing building as an example? Kind regards, Teddy
