Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
hjmediastudios replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the criticism of the Iron Man Mk. 42 is overblown; I'm currently attempting to 3D-model a complete set of minifig Iron Men and it's actually a very nice-looking figure. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

I'll definitely be doing this. I found a 2012 advent calendar for $10; the usually drop significantly in price after Christmas is over. -
Here's my non-CGI entry for Round II, demonstrating why I never, ever use my camera unless absolutely necessary. (The song is rather good, though; imagine it set to a jaunty tune and it can really grow on you.)

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

Just found this video that shows (I think) Jabba's Sail Barge. Thoughts? -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

Personally, I love the look of the new AT-TE. It's going to be a rough year for my wallet (I'll probably feel compelled to buy two), what with this and the Iron Man 3 sets. For what it's worth, though, I think that the JEK-14 starfighter is similar enough to an E-wing that there can't be a coincidence. As for the minifigs, my guesses are, L to R, R4-series astromech, Senate guard with force shield, Jedi in clone trooper armor, and some sort of camouflage sniper (could be a clone at that resolution.) -
Yes, but (and I speak from experience), molding rubber is a lot easier due to the fact that the molds don't need such an insane level of accuracy- because rubber is, y'know, stretchy.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

The most disturbing bit... Those kids have been snatched from their families at an early age and are being trained as warriors. The whole Star Wars saga has some complex moral issues that in no way change everyones' enjoyment of the stories or the Lego sets based off of them. -

I think there are two perspectives on this. One could be that this is an excellent point, especially given the current state of affairs. The other is that they could simply release a Jedi Temple set, with Jedi, and no mention of any of the unpleasantry that transpires there. Even so, foul deeds don't necessarily preclude a set. They made a set off the Death Star, which didn't get its name for nothing. -
That's in exceedingly poor taste. From extensive personal experience, I can say that the range of skin tones present in (at least American) folks of Asian and European descent is pretty much identical- most of the main differences are more structural than coloration.

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
hjmediastudios replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I got 12 Old Republic battle packs and 12 clones vs. droidekas. They're awesome, but I think I may have cleaned out my local Targets and Walmarts for the remainder of the week. -
Tournament of Retribution III Headquarters!

... what? You know, this isn't worth arguing over. I'll have to fight the urge to act like a Redcoat here. -

Personally, I disagree with those who say that CGI comics have an advantage- they have a whole different (and arguably more difficult) process that goes into creating the images, and the result isn't necessarily one that most would prefer aesthetically. The more important thing for me is that a humorous story gets told- for one, I wouldn't mind seeing some cool drawn comics that are actually comics in every sense of the word. -
Hmm. I'm personally hoping for Portal or the UCS Sandcrawler, in that order. However, I'm not holding my breath. If the current review is anything like the past one, we'll be waiting for quite some time. The review the Space gentlemen are in should take a bit less time, as there are only two projects in that phase and they're extremely different in appeal, scope, and marketability.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
hjmediastudios replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I just picked up 12 each of the new battle packs, and I must say they're great. LEGO seems to be getting faster with shipping; in past years it would be February before my local Target or Walmart got new sets, and the Hobbit sets were in stock almost immediately. -
I have no problem with doing that, but I'm not really seeing how my approach isn't fair. I only used open-source software and a mid-range computer, things that I'm guessing the vast majority of Eurobricks users would have access to. Besides, the minifig model I used (and created) is even freely available for others to download and use.

Awww... how cute. Someone who believes that an animated short can be created in "a couple" or even "several" hours. I used to think that way, too.

Apart from the exact medium of expression, I attempted to hew fairly closely to the rules- No clone brands are depicted, There were ten shots in the video (corresponding to the allotted number of panels), although I eliminated most text in favor of motion, it was clearly related to the theme, and the rules state that it's not a building contest. Plus, I think it would be hard to say that I took any shortcuts relative to making a comic. The "Screw the rules" comment wasn't intended to be malicious in intent; I was merely attempting to be "rowdy." Sorry if it came across too strong. EDIT: Here's the video re-embedded for the benefit of people coming to the conversation late: Here's a comic version of it, although I must say it loses something without the melodic strains of The Blue Danube Waltz.

[pid][/pid] A Bluecoat and a Redcoat vie for the attentions of an island lady, and each ends up with the mate he deserves. It's not a comic? Screw the rules. They're guidelines anyway. I did it my way. This is war. As usual, comments are more than welcome.

Let's be honest- if this graph were anywhere near accurate, that black segment would be about eight times larger. -

I plan to get a lot of Coruscants due to the clone troopers without an extra sergeant and the fact that the planets can be Brasso'ed to get some nice dark gray spheres for MOCs. -
Tournament of Retribution III Rules and Entries Overview

I am going to heavily abuse this rule. Come to think of it, I'm going to brutally abuse all the rules... I mean guidelines. -
Amen! They'll always be Space Marines to me, regardless of whatever some trigger-happy trademark troll chooses to shriek about.

Your guide to Tournament of Retribution III

I think I may actually change my Blender Bluecoats to use red epaulets. They make the Bluecoats into a shining, righteous mirror image of the filthy Redcoats a bit better. -
Space Troopers is simply a provisional name, not final.

Don't worry- I've been working with both Games Workshop and the Cuusoo team to resolve the issue. Things will work out fine.
