Heroica RPG - Quest #80: Sic Semper Tyrannis

"You wouldn't say that if you met the guy. He was bad, I mean real, real bad. He fought for fun and killed for pleasure. Tried to incite a rebellion for pure blood-lust. Piece of dirt came to Eubric around Grogmas time to jump on the bandwagon of the Lady Wren - perhaps you heard of her? One of my friends witnessed him murder an unarmed warrior in cold blood. That warrior was one of the best and most loyal folk I ever knew. Rethink your question. There's no honour in killing innocents and fighting like a coward as he did - I can see no reason why we should have treated his corpse with any such grace. Beheading was too good for him, I wanted to set light to his fur make his guts into bootstraps." Haldor bursts into hysterics. "No way on this barren rock we call home can you get away with that one. Great work, mate, I bet no-one will notice what you did there. I mean... you must be truly desperate to maintain your gangs manly reputation that you have to cover up for each other's blatant stupidity by mincing words, like a weasel. And anyhow, why would you only count us three men into your workings out for this fight? What, you don't reckon Mizuki could be a threat? Something tells me you're gonna live to regret that assumption, my boy." He manages to steel himself enough to appear serious and turn away for a moment, now with his weapons in his hands. "So, looks like you've elected the way of pain... so to speak." In an instant, the nord wheels about and swings hard and the bandana-wearing goon with all his strength, both sceptres flying forth. "Take this you bloody smartarse! And for your information, I've got a damn sight more brains in me than the whole lot of you combined! Me, the unwanted norse boy who learnt all he knows from moth-eaten epics. I'm better than your average barbarian - a gargoyle above a shop door in our city told me so!" -
I guess that the QM can bend reality to his will in order for his NPCs to be right.
-
Oh, please please please can we not fight the thugs yet, CaptainJohnPaul - This vicious snark battle is just too much fun. Just a question for you: did you intentionally have the goon miscount the numbers of our party twice, or was it accidental. I much hope the former. I want to keep calling him stupid.

Haldor speaks slowly and patronisingly. "No. Let me help you out. There are four of us. Come on, count with me. There's this bloke with the headdress, one. This lovely lady in the black, making two. My young friend here, that makes three. Lastly, but not least, I'm actually here. See? Counting's not so hard, is it? If you fight as well as you think, I don't reckon much is going to take place at all. Four of us, at least four of you. Understand what I mean, cretin? Do I have to carve the numbers into your leather skull?" He smirks. "You know what, you remind me of this old walking carpet named Vonnetate. He weren't much of a thinker, bit of a murderous bastard too. So we took off his head, currently mounted on a friend of mine's wall along with a couple of other goons. If you're in a bit more of a thinking mood know, and if you really concentrate... you might reconsider my offer and go and find some more thugs. No? Gods, I knew you were having difficulties up here." The nord points to his own head. "...but I never guessed that you'd be this stupid." Haldor then turns his gaze to the head-band wearing goon. "You thick-as-a-brick too? Or just deaf? The girl's free now, nothing you can do about that." He leans in close, still grinning and hoping to piss the man off as much as possible. "...and if I were you, I'd start hiding pretty damn quick. Your gang's finished in this town. Why? 'Cause I said so, mate. So, you got yourself a handful of options that I have decided you can choose from. One, run like the little wee girl you are straight into the hellhole you came from and try not to upset my comrades too much. Two, stay here, and find yourselves the latest paintwork on these here buildings. Call me barbarian again, please, it's all kinds of funny." Behind his back, Haldor draws out his Dualis Sceptres and prepares to strike. -
Yes yes yes yes! Problem solved as far as I'm concerned. Glad to see Arasmyth back, and I can't wait for him to run into Arthur and ask for an explanation as to where all of his items have gone.

Just an opinion of mine to give: As much as I respect what Endgame has done in creating the Syndicate, I find it difficult to see how they fit into the game world. That's the real difficulty with a non-Sandy QM creating a prominent Eubric faction, if the Wolfgang conflict comes to a head everyone will be asking "why does the Syndicate do nothing?". As all of the main-story quests will be run by Sandy, sometimes there's little room left for other QMs to play with the city in any big way. The Wren Saga worked so well because of how Zepher co-operated with other QMs to write a tale that could have big consequences but not leave plot holes like that. Although I do wonder what would have happened if Wren had succeeded and the heroes been killed. Would the game be really changed? Or would Wren have just blown up?

"What are you going to do if we stay right here?" Haldor laughs menacingly. "No no no... this isn't going to work out for everybody at all. I'm giving you..." He stops. "Two minutes to high-tail it out of here or someone is going to get hurt. Very badly, I suspect." The nord stands to his full height and grins, showing his complete lack of fear. After a little while of waiting, he addresses the young girl again. "So, how you doing there, miss? Are you injured? I'd like to know how much I have to kick these goons about to restore balance to this world. Don't you worry, I'll fix you up fine once these jokers are no longer a problem." Back to the men. "Your time's ticking away, mates, in just a little while it's gonna be: 'This little thug went "Wee wee wee, all the way to the morgue"' I've dealt with your kind too often. For me, it ain't a proper trip out unless I've cracked the heads of at least a couple of you lot." He then looks around, making a show of counting on his fingers. "Oh, and there happen to be four of us too." Haldor turns to the young-looking one, winking. "Learn to count, thick-head. So, why don't you guy and get some more guys - make this into a fair fight. Barbarian, that's a nice insult. I think I'll start calling myself that from now on, maybe even get it carved into your graves." At long last he yawns. "Ah... so what's it to be? Are you planning on leaving this delightful girl - nice hair by the way, best colour there is, I find - or do me and this jolly band of ars.e-kickers have to go to town on your behind. Make your move, son, I'm running out of the scary one-liners." -
Hello there, fine fellows of the Star Wars forum. Having recently played Star Wars: KOTOR to death, especially loving Canderous and the Mandalorian aspects, I decided to finally get around to making something for the forum and the Warriors of Mandalore in one swift model. And here it is, Scorpiox' Mandalorian Assualt Vehicle. The design itself is based on no material other than my own imagination, a delve into my creative subconscious as it were. Certain aspects of the vehicle, such as the rear gun area and the overall aesthetic, took inspiration from the 2012 Mandalorian Battle Pack, however. The craft is manned by Mandalorians who the internet tells me are members of the Death Watch - something I know nothing about but sounds cool nonetheless. In the Star Wars universe, I imagine that this assualt vehicle would be used for infantry/equipment transport and as a fast attack weapons platform. But anyway, enough of my ramblings... I shall let the pictures speak from now-on: Close-up front view of the vehicle. Here you can see the plasma cannons and a heavy laser repeater built into the struction. A different angle of the front of the vehicle. On display here are the pilot's cockpit and control area. Behind him is a Mandalorian Death Watch trooper armed with a repeating blaster stood on the flat transport surface. A close-up view of the aforementioned rear-mounted chain-laser repeater. A high-angle view of the whole craft and its crew. Here you can better see the transport area. One final shot of the front, this time without the crew. In the foreground you can see an unused weapon-mounting, similar to the one that's currently holding the heavy laser repeater on the other side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope that you enjoyed viewing my MOC, please feel free to leave whatever comments you wish to in this thread. Criticism and opinions would be greatly appreciated. For your added interest, here is a link to my Brickshelf folder, which contains a couple or extra shots of the vehicle by itself if you would like to see them. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to come here. EDIT: Added the link that I promised but forgot to deliver on.

Heroica RPG - Quest #80: Sic Semper Tyrannis

"Are we all done here? Thanks for your time, mister... erm, arms dealer." Haldor then leads the group out of the warehouse and back into the crowded streets. While there, he spies a nervous looking red-haired girl standing awkwardly close to the hooded figure of a man - and resigns himself to checking if she's all right. The nord heads over and taps the man not-so-gently on the shoulder. "Oi! What's going on here then? Mind telling me what the hell you're up to?" He then turns his face towards the girl. "He hurting you? 'Cause if he is... that's not going to work out for everybody." Haldor glares at the man, looking very intimidating indeed. -
Woo hoo! I'm at last back from Ireland and in my lovely house - complete with its lovely internetz and my lovely free time. I shall hopefully be more active in Quest #80 from this point onwards. Many thanks to TBW for stepping into the breach and to CJP for being patient.

Haldor nods appreciatively at the creature's wares, finally settling on the Gladiator Helmet for 33 gold. "Take note of that helm, lads - you'd be wise to pick one up. I hear that an item of its quality goes for next to four times that much back at the marketplace." Advice given, the nord smiles contentedly at his new purchase. "When you've all wrapped up your deals we can get going again. Those bandits ain't gonna beat themselves into the ground for us, are they?" -
Meh... I don't think the wolfgang will be gaining any support until some of this 'help' is shown.

In my opinion there would be something wrong if a group of heroes rushed to join what Is on the surface just a group of thugs that has done little but try and kill people, in their experience, just because they themselves said that they are helping the citizens. In-character, the obvious reaction is "Yeah... right. How about you prove it?" In-character vs Out-of-character knowledge...

I have made it clear innumerable times that i'm running on the extent of my 3G at the moment and thus find it difficult to make proper posts.

Why must we limit our characters ways of speaking to our personal linguistic skill? I admit not being able to speak made-up Old Norse, but that doesn't mean Haldor cannot. Imagination, isn't it just wonderful? No one should expect anyone else to write out in all the languages that they use in-character. If it were me, I would either just use coloured text/stage directions; or mix in different language words as most authors do. If it were a language I knew, such as French, I might give a few phrases a go - but not the whole speech.

I kind of have an idea for the uruks as members of Largh-Mund's species, but that only remains a thought and thus I would not want it to get in the way of your planning. And yes, I do still remember the fate of poor Akhzalga during the Great Rubric Fire.

"Yeah, we knocked the bastards for six and left them crying for their mothers. Feel free to go collect those gits wherever it meets your fancy." He then turns to the heroes. "Not bad for a start , eh? You did well, especially you, Romulus - you're not bad for your age. Reckon you'll go far ." Haldor speaks to Antony again. "Anything else we can do for you while we're here?" -
Many thanks to theboywonder for handling things so far - I can only apologise again for my inactivity . I'm also very sorry for any appalling grammar that I have been posting lately, this phone is far from my favourite method of typing.

Ugh... The Irish internetz are almost nonexistent . I'll very here whenever i can, but don't wait for me to long.

"Looks like your luck has finally run thin, then. Hit me with your best shot!" Haldor draws out his brand new pair of Dualis Sceptres and turns them over in his hands. Now would be a good time to test them out, he thought. Lacticium Ring Leader from the front row, wielding the Dualis Sceptres. Battle Order: Romulus Mizuki Xander Haldor -

"What kind of sick man are you? Talking of me paying you money to use someone else's body... like slavery. How long did you think you'd last? Running this kind of businesses, it'd only a matter of time until some nice bloke comes to shut you down. The girl's coming free with us, Bacari - and there ain't nothing you can do to stop us." Haldor draws his weapon quietly behind his back.
