  1. I really loved to take photos & videos of this set, looks fantastic in its natural habitat:
  2. @Scot-e-dog I don't think the marriage itself has anything to do with the lag. You have different amount of gears engaged in the drivetrain depending on the gear selected and due to the backlash of the Lego gears it takes time until the rotation from the wheels reaches the engine, that's all. You can try to remove the cover panels to have a clear visibility on the gearbox and the engine (or at least the output to the engine) and see when it starts to move in different gears.
  3. Don't forget Lamborghini, also part of the VW group ;)
  4. TLG will never talk about their future plans but if you can read between the lines it is clear that Technic will also go on with PU instead of PF (the source is the PU Q&A post on the LAN blog): Without disclosing how we are going to develop and launch the Powered UP platform we can say that it is the future LEGO electronic building platform to cover products across both DUPLO, LEGO and TECHNIC building areas.
  5. Interesting list, looking forward to see them :) 42095 seems to be the Technic version of the App-Controlled Batmobile, hopefully we'll see the introduction of some of the Technic-specific Powered Up elements.
  6. It's good to see that they had the same conclusion :) Based on my earlier experience with BuWizz the Bluetooth connection can be heavily affected by other sources, e.g. if you operate 2.4 Ghz RC cars nearby that almost kills the BT connection.
  7. There were actually two of them, Westworld and Futureworld. Worth watching to see where the TV series came from.
  8. The sequel comes next year hopefully although it was postponed multiple times, fingers crossed ;) Logan's run is another one, and there're plenty more :)
  9. I tried to watch that but I had to turn it off after half an hour... talking about guilty pleasures and TV, I love weird ( and/or old) sci-fi movies. Just watched again Iron Sky recently, it's so bad it's actually good :) Johnny Mnemonic is another gem I watched recently, and the original Westworld movie as well. Oh and I can watch any Die Hard movies any time :D
  10. I'm sure it belongs here, the photo looks great with that background! I used blue and orange for the Bugatti-Porsche comparison:
  11. That's my mod, the range should be definitely better. As @Zerobricks said, first try with another device. You can also do some tests with the units, place the car on top of something so the wheels could roll freely, then test your range for one unit then for the other, maybe in different speed modes as well.
  12. Great review and the usually gorgeous pictures, thank you! Can't wait to have this set, besides 42079 this is my other favorite from the 2HY lineup (obviously for different reasons).
  13. Great reviews as always, waiting to have your view on 42079. I agree with @suffocation, interesting to see that you don't like the color combination of 42082 but you're a fan of 42080's appearance. I guess it can be a personal preference for everyone but I think 42082 has a more unified look than 42080 with the different shades of green and other colors popping up here and there.
  14. Congrats on the new position @Jim, after that long time at the same company that'll be refreshing for sure
  15. Here in Hungary the new sets are available already for a few days, these are the lowest prices at the moment: 42079 - 44 EUR 42080 - 113 EUR 42081 - 103 EUR 42082 - 205 EUR
  16. This is my view on 42079, I think it is a great little set with well balanced A and B models:
  17. @Kelkschiz Thanks, I also wondered why @Sariel had very different results, maybe there was some interference on the street where he tested. @sirslayer I don't own any Chinese clone parts and I don't plan to purchase them so no tests with them, sorry :) @dr_spock I forgot to bring the Boost hub with me this time, I'll make sure to test the range later. Only used the Boost hub indoors so far with a range of 1-2 meters without any issues.
  18. While I was filming the review video of the new 60197 Passenger Train set I realized that the operating range of the remote is much better than I thought it would be based on the early reviews. Since I was able to test it indoors only with 10m distance (easily passed, even through 2 walls) I decided to compare it with all the different LEGO RC solutions I have. Took all the equipment outdoors to a remote area without any interference and tested the operating range. The aim was to find the distance where the connection was stable and the remote/app was still able to reconnect. I tested the following: - LEGO Power Functions IR - LEGO Powered UP hub with remote / with app control (LEGO Powered Up app 0.3.12) - BuWizz v1 (BuWizz app 1.5.2) - BuWizz v2 (BuWizz app 1.5.2) - SBrick (SBrick app 4.4.13) All applications were tested on my Huawei P9 smartphone with Android 7.0. You can see the results in the video, I was really impressed by the performance of the new Powered Up hub. I'm not sure why the early reviews reported a significantly different range, I tested it in different conditions (indoors, in a garage, outdoors) and the performance was always very good.
  19. Great stuff inside (especially the Bugatti one), thanks for sharing it!
  20. Great review @Jim as always, it's refreshing to read your thoughts in details and go through the gorgeous photos in the age of video reviews ;) I absolutely agree with the conclusion, I had a similar view at the end of the Porsche-Bugatti comparison. I think the packaging and the added extras (not sure if you listened to the podcast series, they are worth to check with a lot of background information) are all there to enrich the building experience, which seems to be the key point of this series instead of the play experience. Small remark, I think you misspelled Kim's last name :)
  21. Checked, no cheap flights to Billund this month
  22. @Nebulaire it's great that you take them to some many places! :) @pagicence I was looking for a solution that can be made with Technic parts and still looks cool, had no idea that this is something specific to this shop :)
  23. That's very cool @Nebulaire, thanks for the photo! I like the small updates like the orange chain and the different rim color to match the orange pieces on the figure :) Where/when was this convention?
  24. You can probably do a quick video walkthrough to show the functions and your main findings, then provide all the details later in the written review. I'd be more than happy to help with the videos if I lived closer...
  25. Completely agree, this model is simply too big and heavy for a proper motorization with PF parts only. What @Didumos69 described is probably the most straightforward method and the performance still won't be that great. You also have to ask yourself the question - what's your point of making it RC? The car is huge, turning circle is huge, it's a pain to drive it around in the house. I'd go with a smaller model if you want some fun RC stuff.
