Hello everybody, after a week of developement, and a few weeks of thinking and seeking into different websites and instructions, I have finally "fully motorized" the legendary 42009, using only 4 motors and 2 receivers (as I don't have more and can't find them here...) The first MOC which I'm posting here ;D hope you enjoy reading this How does it work? we have 2 gearboxes here, it has to! the first gearbox (I will call it GB1) has 4 different outputs and is located in the superstructure, the superstructure internals are nearly identical to 42009's original, except for LAs' placement and shifting mechanism which is a bit like how 42056 switches its driving rings, so it has an L-motor in the same place as original, three outputs are the same as original which actuate boom lift and boom extension and winch, but the forth one which goes through turnable, although it still goes inside turnable, drives the "switching" mechanism of GB2 (the gearbox in the chassis) which has also 4 outputs (2 driving rings) instead of actuating original stabilizers gearbox... so when we use the M-motor to change gears of GB1, if we switch on the 4th output which shifts GB2 and power the L-motor on superstructure, the GB2 will switch its functions there is a receiver on the superstructure which controls an L-motor (GB1 Input) and an M-motor (switches GB1) the chassis has its own single L-motor, which is the input for the GB2, GB2 has four output, one for drive (with struggle...), one for superstructure rotation, one for stabilizers' horizontal extension and one for vertical extension... its all the basic principle behind it! Overall looks Obviously, the cab has been highly inspired by the Groove 6400! the rest is the original 42009 which has another axle after the driven axle, unfortunately the wasent enough space to make it steered or driven! The red notch on the right side indicates current position of GB2 and such thing is also found on the superstructure which indicated position of GB1 due to high length, i had to modify fenders and some other structures to be able to steer wheels at a higher angle without disturbance, to accommodate high steering radius Steering and Drive The cab is full and houses an M-motor which does the steering through several sets of gears and a worm gear I first tried the servo for steering but it had struggles doing it and even worse for returning, so I decided to sacrifice return-to-center and replaced it with an M-motor... driving is done through the GB2 so it is done by an L-motor, unfortunately, due to gearbox limitations, driving is not available while using other functions of GB2 obviously! Driving output of gearbox reached the differential through several reductions. Boom! at first, this crane used to utilize a boom much similar to Groove's boom, but due to lack of parts (lack of curved 3x11 panels) I made it using regular beams, so it became soooo heavy, I managed to increase torque of LA's inputs by a set of gears, added a third LA and made it more rigid. but the main problem was the connection point of the boom and the superstructure, the 12L axle connecting them was breaking from load... so I dismantled the boom and installed original 42009 boom which does not fit to this crane at all triple LA's (I had not seen any crane with three LA's before... as long as my goldfish brain remembers): Some pictures... functions on display The cab's close-up BB2 placement (note that V8 engine is still under it!) Close-up of gearsets before differential this is one of the GB2's changeover bars, its on the right side, due to lack of a second 9L towbar, I made this to overcome the problem, the "3L pins with hole at middle" are made frictionless with a drill, so they can rotate like a frictionless pin, I also once made a heavy duty U-joint using them which could overcome high torque and speed without any problems! :D I will post it later using this method gave me the option to install an indicator which was not possible using normal 9L towbars The towbar GB1 switching mechanism, unfortunately I couldnt find any delicate control switching mechanism (like Sheepo's mustang, if I had access to paypal I would just buy the instructions to find out the mechanism used there)... so you should be careful while switching and keep an eye one the red notch, when its at a perpendicular angle, you can go on! It uses my very first PF component which was an M-motor from Nathanael's 8292 (the cherry picker... I still love it, I had only that motor for years) A close-up of underhood, not that the tan 20t bevel gear and 16t gear can be slided by hand to have different speeds and torques from the motor. A very simple gearbox :D an aerial view, note those large shock absorbers which have been posted by dear member Nick Barett from Englad for me, here! Thank you again Nick (hope you read this) A final pic! :D thank you guys for reading this, this was my first moc here, i tried to include stories and notes throughout the post to make it a bit more excited and not boring. sorry for any grammatical mistakes and bad lightning of photos (my stupidphone not smartphone cause it cant do a bit of lightning XD) it wasent a straightforward build and I had to make it using my limited parts count... I loved this challenge I hope someday paypal would be available here so I will be able to use bricklink to order some really necessary parts at least, I am the only persian here and Im proud of myself for being unique here :D I doubt if anybody else in iran knows what eurobricks is thank for reading Arshia

I always feel jealous when I see these fancy lovely stuff which I can't have them and I'm not going ti be able too... I hope I could ;( Sorry a bit off topic Its a better idea to not set the channels the same, but different So one output will be for steering, and one L-motor on each of other outputs, a differential between engines should be added, so it gives you two or three speeds for drive with no gearbox

Implanting both steering and pendicular suspension in the front axle isnt an easy job... my mods to my boring "yellow" will be a V6 engine with 42030 parts, AWD with central differential, also lockable plus a crane based on 8258 with pneumatic extension of boom with arocs parts and pneumatic rotation and grabing, also some attachements for the crane, such as bucket, grab, drill and... will be interesting indeed Also a combine harvester attachment is a great idea, I would try to make the attachement actually "pick" things and drop it on a conveyor belt and a storage for it, since the top rear bonnet is empty and can be used for placement of a storage A pneumatic auxillary output also looks sweet Will be thinking what other mods can I do to increase its playablity even more!

Hi guys I've just bought a 42030... Its the first time Im experiencing IR receivers! I want to know if there is any problem attaching 2 l-motors to a single channel? What about stalling 2 l-motors on a single channel? Or stalling an XL-motor? How does this thing fry/burn? I wanna know to prevent it :)

No need to apologize pal! I didnt take it as insult really, it was an opportunity to tell good people of all world that social medias are displaying Iran in an unreal way... and some people do prejudgment, not their fault in anyway ;) Thanks for attention though Yea really- 18 replies

9.5L springs alternative
arshiaIQ replied to arshiaIQ's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fortunately there are some ways to pay for instructions I have many sets :D I build using their parts All of my parts are classified and ordered in small drawers... just like nico for example I use them to build, then dissmantle them- 18 replies

No one is from Iran you're right... Lego sets here are so common, but not seprate parts and people look at lego just as stationary statues... Btw the only parts I dont have are those springs ;) Ive even built the terex and madoca's wing body :D- 18 replies

[MOC] Rope Braiding Machine
arshiaIQ replied to Hugolin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I couldnt resist and made some parts of this amazing piece of machinary!! I dont have any idea about the rest of gearing... I could also see a differential somewhere in a picture, just a fraction of it though! I couldnt add it cause its duty wasent clear to me... anyway, the main mechanism of those 12 strands work perfectly + that pair of "jaws" Hope someone helps me in the rest of progress (I hade to change some parts such as outer circular frame and core rope braider due to lack of parts)- 37 replies
