  1. Plus if I recall DOS all of the elves in the action scenes other than tauriel and legolas pretty much had brown hair. The elf without the hood in MEA is identical to the ones in the movie' action scenes. The helmeted armoured ones did practically nothing except be slaughtered by orcs, Stand still or run along a bridge shouting something in elvish. Lego is usually given some details of sequences/characters and either concept art or set photos or production stills so the concept art elves might have had hoods. It wasn't a cheap out It was merely working what they got given by WB. Clearly they have been given a bit more detail this time round as the sets seem to be scene based rather than random scenarios like Lego did with mirkwood tree wall. All of 2012's sets were based on events from DOS and AUJ and they were better for it. I'm Glad 2014's sets seem to be following that good example. Roll on October.
  2. Yeah classic Lego Disney would be awesome just imagine the minifigure possibilities: Captain hook, peter pan, Hercules, Frollo, Jafar, Aladdin, The genie, Hades, Merlin, Scar.
  3. Lego would never touch COD they have morals. Lego don't make sets or figures based on real life military conflicts which is what COD is based on. Mega Bloks do but they have no morals or knowledge on decent plastics/quality. So It is no surprise mega would make stuff like that. I personally want a James bond theme. It is no more violent or unsuitable than Indiana jones or the Simpsons for that matter all three are 12s. It would be great if we got some whenever the next film comes out. Just a thought.
  4. Don't be so quick judge the set before you've seen it. I'm good with that as well.
  5. My Guess is that the erebor set will minifigure wise be Bilbo and the dwarves from DOS's Final sequences. As Smaug is there and people have mentioned the forges being part of the set. Plus on FBTB's post they mention Dain Ironfoot in the BO5A so I doubt he will be in erebor as well. I'm glad of this however as I felt the DOS sets to be lacking any decent main characters other than Gandalf. It looks as if in this wave there are more central characters rather than just elves and a character who was on screen for five minutes. From what I can gather it seems we will be getting: Galadriel, Elrond, Bilbo and The witch king of angmar for sure. I would guess That we will see bard, Bolg, Dain Ironfoot, all the dwarves who went into erebor in DOS some armoured orcs, dwarf soldiers, elf soldiers, men soldiers. Judging by the prospect of all that I'd say this may turn out to be the best wave yet. Also the Dol Guldur part of the film sounds brilliant.
  6. Yeah my thoughts are Coulson, the winter soldier, Nick Fury. You know what? It would be odd If the ASM 2 Spiderman from SDcc was the exclusive. Then they wouldn't need to do any new printing as it would essentially be a re release.Just a thought! Out of the four mentioned above any would be amazing to see. I was so glad they did jor el as he was a huge part of the movie.
  7. I see, I apologise.I did not understand. It appears to be a made up term in the movie. A lance is in the English vocabulary as is wind. I guess they put them both together and said that sounds like a cool name for a plot device.
  8. Blazej_holen: The windlance is a dwarvish weapon that fires black harpoon like arrows. It may be a large plot device in TABA for reasons I will not spoil for the benefit of those who have not seen DOS. Also it is already confirmed that erebor is the largest set of the wave.
  9. Is there any chance bard will be in the laketown set? The laketown chase of 2013 really doesn't interest me that much but if the next one has bard and the windlance then that'd be great. Speaking of which I could see the lake town set figures going this way: Bard, Bain, Bofur, Tauriel (casual), Bolg, 2x orcs, lake town captain. Judging by the description of 3 buildings including the tower with the windlance. I strongly suspect that Smaug will appear in both sets. Erebor and lake town.
  10. I don't want to got to far into this as this belongs in the multimedia topic. I prefer the darkness and unpredictability and really fleshed out stories of arrow to agents of shield's more formulaic linear approach. Then again I like both. It'll be good when they finally return to UK screens. However I respect your opinion.
  11. Darthpunk no probs. Also I must apologise for my method of replying as the quote button doesn't appear to work for me anymore. Yeah whichever set Smaug is in I will buy. Sounds to me as if erebor is based off all three movies with different features for each movie. Like Smaug and the forge for DOS, the throne for AUJ and whatever else for TABA.
  12. Darthpunk you do realise that is a quote taken from the forum where huw posted that passage. It was him who was saying it was vague not me I was just pasting the quote from the page. Also no one ever said what set Smaug was in before huw posted that passage. Maybe he will be in both. Things are seldom complete and final at london toy fair. I mean why waste a possible new printed or new mould in just one set. Seems more like Lego to reuse it for others. Think how many times moulds introduced in LOTR/Hobbit have been used in other themes and sets. I think there is a slight possibility Smaug will be in both.
  13. Huw of brickset has confirmed in the comments of his report 4 sets: "Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 22 Jan 2014 14:07 I've just listened to the voice recording I made while going round the stand so can shed some more light on the Hobbit sets. I'm also hoping that the other attendees can pitch in and fill some gaps and I suspect Pete will do so in his report at FBTB. So, there are 4 sets: The small one with Galadriel and the witch king Lake town bell tower has some important character something like bain? in it Battle of the five armies, I don't recall much about that The Lonely Mountain, the one with Smaug in it. Sorry it's so vague, there's so much to take in and not much time to do so!" So going by that Smaug is included in erebor. Quite a good wave if you ask me: Nice big set with perhaps some DOS/TABA variations of the dwarves and Bilbo, Nice add on to lake town, BO5A sounds cool and a small Dol Guldur set. Much more variation than 2013's wave.
  14. Good point! Dol Guldur was the second most important sequence storywise in DOS. The second biggest plot point in the film. Really without spoiling the movie's final moments it was the only thing that Lego could've possibly made for the DOS wave flagship set. Notice I said Hobbit not LOTR. LOTR films were made quite a time ago so Lego don't appear to be to fussed what makes the flagship set as long as it is a decent design and looks fun for kids. The Hobbit however warner will influence Lego more on the TABA flagship as with Goblin town as they will want to showcase the biggest part of the movie which is the whole final battle type motif which has been speculated about since the hobbit films were announced. I guess a bit of the battle will take place in erebor as in the pickup final day photos of TABA thorin can be seen with other dwarves fighting in armour looking in a pretty bad way in front of an emerald green set. So Unless the battle is taking place in the emerald city one can deduce that some fighting goes on in erebor. Just a thought.
  15. I doubt laketown vs smaug would be the flagship TABA set. Lego have a habit of making the biggest action sequence or second biggest of the hobbits film for the flagship set of the wave. Think about it: 2012 Goblin Town battle was the largest hobbit set, 2013 Dol Guldur was the largest DOS set because they couldn't spoil the final sequence as it had the dragon. So it seems they focus on the climatic sequences for the largest set. I reckon Erebor due to its iconic status and the focus of the quest. I'd reckon it'll be a huge set with about 10 figures like with the 2010 Hogwarts. I'd laugh if we were all wrong and it was a Dol Guldur full fortress set . Although realistically I'd like to see Erebor BO5A finale?, Smaug vs. laketown, Battle in dale, Dol Guldur rescue. I'm going to guess that figure wise my dream scenario would be: Bilbo (blue coat DOS), Bolg, Balin either in armour or DOS styled, Sauron (armour), Galadriel, Smaug, Thorin (BO5A), Bard, Dwarf soldiers, Elf soldiers, Men soldiers, Orcs, Thranduil and Elrond in armour, Bofur (BO5A or DOS), Dain and inevitably perhaps a Gandalf. That would seem realistic and ideal for kids and collectors.
  16. Indeed as darth caedus mentioned he specifically mentioned Galadriel in his video message. Also in DOS Galadriel is mentioned and So it is almost confirmed that Galadriel and saruman will travel to Dol Guldur in TABA. So for a set of that price £12ish bracket it would make sense for it to be a set based on the Dol Guldur white council part of TABA. I think for the smallest set they'd want to have named characters rather than generic troops as the bigger sets for the battle of the five armies will contain those. Plus the DOS wave other than Dol Guldur and lake town was lacking in named protagonists..
  17. Trex size would work for me! compared to Bilbo and the dwarves Trex size is huge! Plus Lego will want to make it available to younger kids so they won't put Smaug in a set over £130. I' not expecting an orthanc price tag for the Smaug set. As the main villain of the franchise. Lego will want to make him widely available and not exclusive to some mega £200 set. My guess for the price is £79.99-£129.99. Any higher would seem ridiculous for the main villain.
  18. In the uk Lego.com has all of the 2014 sets and I went to the Westfield Stratford Lego shop and they had all 2014 winter lines of everything. Star Wars, Superheroes, Lego Movie, Ninjago everything. Maybe other countries are different!
  19. Lordlegotube I think you may be being a little heavy handed. He's only done 8 posts on EB so perhaps wouldn't know that this list was posted elsewhere. Give him a break! Plus it is also sometimes just as annoying to have to scroll back through lots of pages to find out one bit of information that people seem to be talking about. I admit I had not been keeping up to date with this discussion last week so I had no knowledge of the set list until I saw the video here. He is new so don't automatically scold him for being wrong Is all I'm saying. As for the list itself... I like the sound of the star destroyer as I never got the 2007 one and the venator is very unstable. Just a thought if it is an OT set rather than rebels one then maybe we could get an updated Tarkin and a hologram emperor figure perhaps. The cantina sounds quite cool as does an AT AT. I'm gonna guess the snowspeeder is for use in conjunction with the AT AT as you can't have one without the other! Sorry about not quoting your comment but the quote button doesn't appear to work for me on EB at the moment which is peculiar!
  20. The mummy tomb of the dragon emperor film was so similar to orient expedition. They not only got away with discovering the terracotta army but portraying the 40s Chinese soldiers as imbeciles plus turning one of their Real life historical figures into a magician/monster played by one of the most stereotypically associated with china actors around (Jet lee). Lego would be more respectful than that and the storyline of that film seemed loosely based on orient expedition.... I see your point though!
  21. Oddly enough the costume magneto is wearing he only wore when he worked as a head-master of xavier's school. So him being against the Xmen in this variation is highly illogical according to my research.I think they just randomly picked a variant as they don't appear to be able to use fox's DOFP costumes or any x-men trilogy ones. Magneto the younger version appears to be sporting dark reddish purple plated armour that I think would translate quite well in Lego: http://xmenfilms.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/magnetoflight.jpg The current magneto is adorned in black military style armour/uniform: http://xmenfilms.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/dofp-charleserik.jpg with a dark gold cape.
  22. To be quite honest I would not be surprised if LOTR did not continue in 2014. I mean with the hobbit game coming out and the next movie surely hobbit sets are Lego's priority this year. The last movie will no doubt draw a large audience as the last in a trilogy usually does due to tying up loose ends and in this case a final battle for the heroes. As someone else mentioned with the gam coming in the summer and TABA not released until the winter Lego will need something hobbit to promote the game and build anticipation my guess would be a Smaug exclusive maybe in the range of £90 like the black pearl from POTC and the Peru carrier plane was for Indiana jones. Or it might be a wave of sets based on AUJ and DOS to fill in gaps shown off in the videogame. Then in the winter Lego pulls out all the stops for TABA and gives us a six set wave to round off the trilogy then closer to the blu ray release of TABA an orthanc style erebor exclusive. So due to it being their only licensed movie line this year (other than their own film) they focus on that rather than LOTR. That is my prediction of events.
  23. Christopher lee previously said about the third movie that he is in it a lot and we would see him and Galadriel return in some enormous battle and he said it was very exciting and some of the main plot is to do with his character. So if this is true I think one more smaller Dol Guldur set may be done maybe the price range of £12-£20. Then the rest I'd imagine focus on events shown in the movie. I expect a Smaug set and then some based on the battle of five armies which Jackson has previously alluded to. I just hope that they don't mess this as movie battle wave up like they did with harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2's wave which can't even be described as a wave based on the movie. Lego missed a huge opportunity there not making any sets that had anything to do with one of the highest grossing and most anticipated movies of all time. Hopefully they take TABA a bit more seriously.
  24. I had a thought. I always loved knight's kingdom when I was younger and came up with an idea. What if there was knight's kingdom set in the far future where vladek takes over the world using technology and the descendants of the original 4 knights are brought together by a wise old man who was king jayko and fought vladek in the past over an unspeakable power in the wintery part of the kingdom jayko gained an extended life through the power but vladek was frozen and suspended in time in the battle that ensued. Vladek reawakens and uses modern tech to build an army and overthrow the futuristic kingdom. The knights have to band together to stop vladek gaining immortality and to liberate the world. The sets could switch between past and futuristic. Just the fusion of the medieval knights with the futuristic technology would appeal to both futuristic and knight fans. Plus it would be interesting to see characters like jayko and vladek in a futuristic setting. Just an idea.
  25. Nice! Really looks like an evil villain lair! I could certainly place other villains from DC superheroes in here and have an excellent lair which is the one thing TLG don't seem to want to give us. these sets are all really unique and interesting and having Morgan freeman in a set is always a good thing!
