  1. Like selling a few small "kids" sets to a larger (and maybe older) crowd ;-)
  2. To me, best technic set ever goes hands down to the 8880 supercar. In the studless era, that's tough as I quite like the Arocs but I'm not really fond of pneumatics. This should definitely go to the Claas Xerion...its guts are very clever, it looks beautiful with or without stickers, it is relatively inexpansive regarding its size, it's easy to play with (without having to bother with the PF battery box), it has magnificent tires, interesting functions, and it's easy to create new attachments for it. On a side note, I'm getting rid of my Unimog and my Volvo Front Loader to make room for the 42009 crane.
  3. I've nearly completed the chassis. So far, I found the build very enjoyable, and the shifting mechanism is clearly one (or many more) steps above 42056 gearbox.
  4. I believe there's a slight error page 25, step 1, if the 1l connector is inserted the way it is, it will interfere with the blue pins when assembling the sub assembly to the main build.
  5. They are available : https://www.lego.com/en-gb/service/buildinginstructions/search?ignorereferer=true#?search&text=42065
  6. With this spécifilc model, with a little imagination, most of the #3 orange connectors could be replaced by their black counterparts (which could be bought on S@H). the whole windshield could be done in black (like on some T-Top cars) the whole top of the car could be done in black (like on some Ferraris, but more contrast should be added to the interior) at the back the #3 connector above the wheel could be replaced by a black one, mimicking an air intake for the engine above the wheel at the back of the front wheel, the #1 and #3 connectors could be replaced by black ones to mimick a brake cooling duct at the front of the back wheel, the #3 connector and the adjacent piece could be done in black to mimick the same thing ... To me, there's no problem with the orange #3 connector shortage, there's only solutions :-)
  7. Maybe, but Paul's creation uses quite a few of them as well (18 total) ;-)
  8. The #3 technic connectors are pretty rare (or very (very) expansive) in orange, and I think quite a few of them could be replaced by black ones, especially on the back of the front wheel and on the front of the back wheels, to simulate air intakes for cooling brakes or the engine. Other than that, I just finished ordering all the missing parts for this amazing supercar
  9. No yet. We will have more informations at the Nuremberg Toy Fair early february
  10. There's a review of 42064 / Ocean Explorer Boat on BrickSet : http://brickset.com/article/25485/review-42064-ocean-explorer
  11. Hi it depends on what are your leftover pieces, but as a general rule, Lego includes quite a few spares within each set and those spares do vary from one box to another and do not appear on the piece inventory
  12. about 195€ and free shipping for the same thing on Amazon.fr using a coupon available only for premium subscribers
  13. 42065 is already down to 77,52€ on Amazon.de...and given the price I ended paying for the Volvo by just waiting...I would say this will end going 60-65€ on Amazon quite regularly ;) Anyway, I don't think moaning about the price of new lego sets is the point of this topic
  14. @J_C , the BWE was dirt cheap on Amazon only a few days after its official release, and one of my local toyshop will have all early 2017 sets by the end of the week (except for the jet)...and I expect them to be at least 15% off their official retail price...on a side note, this toyshop is one of the rare place where you can still buy quite a few discontinued big creator and technic sets at a very competitive price...the guy managing the Lego corner is a true AFOL
  15. Just got a brand new 42030 for 127€ at my local toy shop :D
  16. Sorry for the "double post", but after reading all this thread, I couldn't find any mention of this : http://www.technicbricks.com/2016/07/4x4-a25f-articulated-hauler-is-reality.html The B-Model also exists in real life, which is nice
  17. Amazon and many other online resselers still have this set in stock in Europe and according to various local toy shops in my area, this set never has been a big seller because of its price (on the other hand, the Porsche seems to be a hit despite of its price, but that's another story :D) Furthermore, I have mixed feelings about this set as it relies on motors an almost / straightforward actions for pretty much everything...I think that 8459 / 8439 / 8464 is more complex from a mechanical standpoint than this set (unfortunately my parents sold mine a few years ago for almost nothing with the box, the original sticker sheet, the lot)...but yet, it has plenty of motors, a servo two remotes and two receivers...and if you can have a very (very) good deal (hint I got mine for 127€), it's totally worth it...
  18. Totally agree with the guidelines, but the colorscheme were indeed quite nice and it's really a shame that lego didn't offer this model in only one color...a GT3 RS is a model where you can go really crazy on the color scheme (like any lambo for that matter).
  19. I quite like the lime one, even though there's a great chance quality won't be on par with lego pieces...
  20. Same here, and it doesn't matter which browser I use (apart from the microsoft ones which I didn't use at all)...it happens all the time, even in the middle of the night...I had encountered this issue on another forum and if I recall well, the admins were forced to move to beefier database servers.
  21. Regarding the ratios, this doesn't explain why many people couldn't get the gearbox to work properly even when using the official gear sequence...I cannot understand why seasoned technic builders cannot make it work properly. As you once stated, in this model you really need to give each and every gear a little room to move freely...if you don't the gearbox will not work properly. Furthermore, TLG explaination makes sense, 42056 is marketted toward car enthousiasts that are not necessarily technic fans...part of the reason of why I did put together so many Porsche is because most potential buyers didn't care that much about the internals of this model and just want to build it (or pay someone to build it for them) in order for them to display this set on their desks at work to impress their co-workers... In fact, having myself a Porsche on display at work alongwith PvDB's Koenigsegg One:1, Nathanael Kuipers Predator (and TLG's Catheram), I'm always getting questions about the Porsche...while the other two supercars didn't get that much attention despite them being a few orders of magnitude more interesting to build (and in my opinion PvDB's Koenigsegg is way better looking)...size & being orange seems to matter more to most people
  22. I've just finished box 1 & 2 and indeed, if you apply the gear sequence fix, you get a heck of a lot more of friction, the gearbox stalls on some gears.
  23. Regarding the body shape, I do think that the blades beside the front wheel should be reversed, as in the real car the blade appears to have a big mounting point close to the wheel instead of having it close to the door Other than that, the gearbox seems to be very well executed, and the body shape is gorgeous...furthermore as the roof strake can be configured to be in the same color as the body, which will allow the reuse of some of the Porsche longer flex and have your very own Madagascar Orange Lego Technic Aston Martin DB11 with matching roof & roof strake and 20" 10-spoke black wheels. Alternatively, you can go with black roof & roof strakes, like on this car :
