Generic Contest Discussion
Mantarri replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What about something a bit broader? My thought was having to make something non-motorized, might not even need a size restriction, as the lack of a motor would limit that to an extent. I'm totally not biased because I don't have many small panels, flex axles, and wheels... -
[MOC] Road Grader
Mantarri replied to Mantarri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, it was mostly an experiment in making a nice body, I'm not yet enough of mechanical genius to fit anything else into it, but I'm working on it. I'm basically trying to make MOCs to improve my weak spots in building, my TC17 entry was rather lacklustre, and frustrating to create, so I want to get better for the next TC, and for myself. -
[MOC] Road Grader
Mantarri posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
After I finished my TC17 entry, I decided to try to better my building skills, and made this road grader. There isn't much to it, but I wanted the result to look nice, and for the functions to work. Functions: Straight Six engine powered by the 2 back axles Blade rotation, powered by the 36-tooth bevel gear in the wheel arch Steering, powered by the steering wheel in the cabin And here are the pictures. I got this set for Christmas, and decided to try to make an alternate model for it, and ended up with this cut-away looking model. Each section can be separated quite easily, and blocks can be placed almost anywhere easily, due to using jumper plats for most of the floor. There is also one little function; the bat can attach to a little sliding rail, demonstrated in the GIF. Bricksafe Gallery

Congratulations to the winners, lots of amazing entries! I'll admit that my entry was rather weak, which was due to a combination of inexperience, causing several rebuilds, and just not actually making it fit the theme as well as it could. I've bought some new parts, and have been working on getting better at building, so hopefully I'll make a better looking entry for the next TC.

[MOC] Extreme OffRoader
Mantarri replied to kodlovag's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not OP, but yes, orange for the cabin and most of the hood, then white/grey/black for other areas. -
That's actually why I'm wanting to buy the motor now, before they get rare. When it comes to compactness, and power, Control+ just doesn't look that appealing compared to PF motors + BuWizz/SBrick, not to mention the fact that I have quite a few PF elements already. Only thing that I see Control+ has going for it is being "programmable" (which I have an NXT for), and motor shape for building.

Thanks, I'll probably go with a couple XLs then. Also, are you sure that BuWizzs are on sale, because I checked, and they don't say anything about that. If they aren't, I'd rather wait, as I can't justify forking over that much $ right now, if it's at the regular price (it shows 130 Euro/150 USD for me).

Hi, I'm wanting to buy some more PF motors, and was wondering what you guys would recommend. I'm looking to be able to make models up to as large as the various Tatras scaled to, say, the Unimog/CLASS tires. I already have: 1x M Motor 3x L Motors 1x Server Motor 1x PF IR Receiver & Remote I am looking to buy BuWizz, or SBrick (most likely BuWizz), as while taking the video for my TC17 entry, the IR kept cutting out, and I was filming on a cloudy day, in the shade... Also, I'm from Canada, so would it be best to go with the LEGO shop for PF motors, and is the BuWizz website the only place to buy BuWizz?

@agrof Thanks, guess I misunderstood stood it, fixed now, except I can't get rid of the spoiler, I'll try when I'm on my desktop later. -

@agrof Ah, that's where I was looking, guess I got the name wrong. And yeah, looks like the oprices for the mLA/XL LA that I saw. Main problem I have when LEGO shopping is I'm in Canada, and most stuff is either somewhere in Europe (shipping charges can get high), or the States (import charges are a pain). Which was why I was hoping to get some on the replacement bricks service, flat shipping rate, made an order on their a few weeks ago actually, hoping it gets here today, or tomorrow, as I got a replacement for my pneumatic pump that failed, and some pieces so I can make some proper suspension, among other things. -

Just ahd a small question that didn't feel like it merited a separate topic, and didn't seem to fit anywhere else. I've been wanting to get myself some large linear actuators, and was wanting to see what the price is on the Bricks & Pieces service LEGO, but it's shown "sold out" for the past 3-ish weeks. Am I just looking at a bad time, or are they not in production ATM? If they aren't, I'll probably just use Bricklink. -
Seems I've pushed it right to the wire, time to sort all the pieces I've accumulated in my work area back into their spots. It was indeed fun, and taught me that: A: I'm not that good at gearboxes B: steering systems are a pain C: Don't try to use Bricksafe for videos D: Ya'll are amazing, I'm not expecting to win, but it was a fun (if frustrating at times) challenge. May the best post-apocalyptic-vehicle win! P.S. thanks so much for the extra time Jim, my entry would have been pretty sad without it.

[TC17] Dozaster
Mantarri replied to Mantarri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, it's finished, really played it close, seems Bricksafe didn't want to upload the video, so getting it up was a pain. Also, the IR receiver sucks outdoors. Final pics are in the main post. -
25. Dozaster! After a mini dark-ages (haven't finished a MOC in years), I decided to try to make something for TC17 as of this Monday. First time entering a TC Without further ado I present: Dozaster! A heavy duty chassis, with two missile launcher for capturing food, or making new doors. RC drive using 1x battery box & PF IR receiver v2 V8 engine & drive powered by 2x L motors A heavy-duty grabber arm, for moving whatever gets in your way, or pickup them up, and use it as a makeshift wrecking ball! [TC17] Dozaster
Mantarri replied to Mantarri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
After quite a few rebuilds, I realized that the articulated steering just wouldn't work (with my knowledge at least), so I decided to go for putting all the drive into the dozer, and just having a regular trailer. The Gearbox switching was an attempt at adding some more motorized functions. I have since learnt that I still have a ways to go with gearboxes. The trailer is still very early WIP, but the dozer is more-or-less finished, so here's some pics: Pics removed, as I didn't want to leave them in the finished model's Bricksafe, might add them into a separate one later. -
Just wondering if I could get my nickname changed to MisteryMan? (The i instead of a y is intentional).

After a mini dark-ages (haven't finished a MOC in years), I decided to try to make something for TC17 as of this Monday. Didn't realize I needed a WIP topic at first, so here it is! I present: Dozaster! A heavy duty chassis, with two missile launcher for capturig food, or making new doors. RC drive using 1x battery box & PF IR receiver v2 V8 engine & drive powered by 2x L motors A heavy-duty grabber arm, for moving whatever gets in your way, or pickup them up, and use it as a makeshift wrecking ball! Dozaster started out as any bulldozer, but after the apocalyptic events that have unfolded, it has been heavily modified, including rear missiles, V8 engine, and a tough grabbing arm. Why a bulldozer you may ask, well even after an apocalypse, some places are still green, muddy, and bumpy, the perfect spot for this heavy-duty tracked machine! Bricksafe gallery

OP last visited Eurobricks in 2017, and the last post on this topic was in 2016, chances are, you aren't going to get an answer.
