  1. I don't know how long this has been out, or if anyone has linked to it before, but there are 5 new locations on the heroica map. http://heroica.lego.com/en-us/BookofLore/map.aspx I hope this means there will be a second series of heroica games.
  2. I've bought multiple monster 4 and Race 3000 when they went clearance I also got a second ramses pyramid at a goodwill store For me it comes down to the price. If the price is low enough, then I can find a use for the parts. That being said the games are usually a good source of parts because they usually have multiples of the same part in the same set. Here's race 3000's inventory... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?G=3839 It has a lot of good parts, I was especially interested in those large curves. The lego games tend to avoid unique parts, and thus you don't have to worry about getting those parts that scream out, "I could make something cool if I had 8 of them" I think the color schemes tend to be a little more sane as well. True I don't like the orange or the lime green as much, but I also don't have to worry about this color being discontinued next year.
  3. Around here they're $1.19 About a year ago I bought a police boat for .39....but according to target's inventory they had negative seven of that set...so buying that many is quite the steal.
  4. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4919715 Here is my Miniscule brickshelf folder.... I mainly used brickforge accessories as planned, but I also used their "wizards staff" as the base of polearms. The orc scimitar looks great with this combo. For the large trolls I made two large weapons using 4 axe blades, a wizards staff and a couple other pieces. More recently (Too recent to be in pictures) I also combined the wizards staff with brickforge's cleaver. Anyway, if you're more of a purist, brick built weapons, like the hammer in "Dwarven Mine" are pretty good too. I Know I've seen brick built shields before as well. Oh, and the heroica weapons are a good way to add variety of weapons as well, especially by buying the "Blacksmith attack"
  5. I'm pretty sure the Lego Studio Line was the result of the creators wanting monsters and the legal department saying "no, that's too violent" Given how much the non-violence has slipped recently, I don't think remaking it as monster theme is out of the question. I don't think it should be called "horror" though. To me horror also includes slasher film series like Friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street, halloween etc. I think "Monster Hunters" would be a better way of approaching it. I also think a Haunted house in Modular scale would be awesome. One of my long term goals is to remake cafe corner with darker colors and populated by monsters, vampires, werewolves and witches from the collectible minifigures line. Hmm....now my brain is running away with me....why not make other official lego sets into haunted versions, and then combining them at a convention....the marina and docks in the 2011 line would make a great lego scooby doo setting, especially if you add a ghost pirate ship
  6. Oops! I didn't realize friends had been assigned to the "town" section. The round tile is also being used in Ninjago sets with printing.
  7. I haven't been following this thread, so pardon me if you've seen these before, but here is a link that includes good high res pics of the 2012 sets...some of the snakemen figures look sweet. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=453157
  8. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=486789 I found this on brickshelf the other day. Perhaps someone with better skills than me could post the actual pictures.
  9. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=486790 I found this folder the other day and thought I'd show it off. It seems to have a lot of new pieces that may be useful in other themes as well. Lots of animals, accessories...but take a close look at the robot. It seems to have a 1x1 round TILE similar to this brickforge element. http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=452
  10. Spiderwick Chronicles: Knights Kingdom scale for the humans & Ogre, minifig scale for Thimbletack and Hogsqueal, Legoland (brick built) scale for goblins
  11. I really like the Poseidon, but I have to wonder, will the tail fit in the bag?
  12. My god! That looks like a rock biter! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://4playerpodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/rockbiter.jpg&imgrefurl=http://4playerpodcast.com/2011/07/06/ode-to-rock-biter/&h=260&w=531&sz=33&tbnid=-UXSMFFFp73cjM:&tbnh=60&tbnw=122&prev=/search%3Fq%3Drock%2Bbiter%2Bimage%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=rock+biter+image&docid=IxZYgBr9wjCiWM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=_y2OTpGFN7HLsQKC-ezMAQ&sqi=2&ved=0CB4Q9QEwAA
  13. Hmm, after looking over some preliminary pics, I think I'm going to pass on these sets. I'd prefer to save my money for other projects, I'm glad so many others like them though. Perhaps if the old dino theme wasn't in my dark ages I'd get a little more nostalgic for these newer ones. PS don't worry TLG, I'm sure my money will flow to you by some other theme
  14. My favorite part is the combo of leaf and brown whip pieces to make an overhanging tree. A lot of those by a riverside would look great
  15. Target has BOGO 50% on ninjago sets
  16. Man, I wanted two of these, but I could only afford 1 Now I want two more than ever! I especially like the hidden cave entrance, it reminds me of the forestmen.
  17. Hmm, what a coincidence, I just did some major PAB shopping and they did mix relatable parts together. Anyway, here is my extrmely long list. By the way, I know I could have packed the cups, but It would have doubled my time....as it was I left my house at 8:15 am and got back at 10:15 pm Shaumburg Lego Discovery Center (Bought by pound) 1 white 1x2 brick 1 tan 2x6 plate 1 white 1x1 technic brick 1 blue 1x2 technic brick 1 mid stone half pin 8 red flower clusters 1 transred 1x1 tile 2 white jumper plates 2 white 1x3 bricks 8 white 2x3 bricks 8 white 2x4 bricks 2 white 2x2 slopes 14 tan 1x3 bricks 2 blue 2x4 brick 9 blue 2x4 45 slope 30 blue 3x2 33 slope 6 red 1x3 brick 16 red 2x3 brick Mental note: shop here last next time prices are only good if you cant get them anywhere else. I Did this location first because it closes at 6 and the other places close at 9, but after many attempts to make this place work for me, I think I finaly figured out that the only bricks worth getting here are supper rare ones, and I've only seen that happen once.
  18. So, I encourage other people to get into lego. Not just anyone random, but I've Gotten one firend to buy a set and now I'm encouraging his own MOC ideas with some instruction books and a tutorial on bricklink. I also have some friends who have daughters about the right age for duplo. So when I find clearacnce sets or grab bags I buy them. Does anyone else encourage the lego habbit in others?
  19. As far as I know there will not be any new heroica games next year, but I hope there will be new ones available in the future.
  20. Yeah, it wasn't jammed in there, but just turning it upside down didn't work.
  21. I had my problems because I didn't own a lot of the castles on the list, and perhaps that's why some of my choices didn't make the top 10, because the writer didn't own them. The yellow castle needed to be on there, not just because of it's theme spawning ability, but because it was a great set for pieces at the time. It had lots of 1x1 and 1x3 bricks which were very rare at the time AND new angle slope pieces. The real crime here is the lack of "Black Falcon's Fortress" But again, perhaps the writer never had one.
  22. It reminds me of one trip to a PAB wall where they had wedges, so I grabbed a handful. (I was limited on time) After returning home I found that I only got right hand wedges so I had to bricklink some left hand wedges to match. That being said this set http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=3833-1 has four "Lime Wedge, Plate 3 x 2 Left" but no corresponding right plates. So some things can be built without bilaterally symmetrical parts. Mental note....add right hand plates to my bricklink account.
  23. I bought 11 of these the other day http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?O=7305-1 and to my surprise, in two of the sets the minifig head was stuck inside the crate http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61780 Although I was able to extract it from the crate by using the pickaxe handle, I would first suggest that TLG avoid putting both of these pieces in the same polybag again, and if that isn't feasable, make sure that a proper minifig tool is also included. The crate should also continue to have an axlehole at the bottom.
  24. Hmm, what about a King Arthur theme next..... It could be awesome, but we all remember what happened last time TLG decided to name it's knights.
  25. Some of target's 10 and 11 dollar sets are on sale for 8
