  1. SPOILERS PRESENT!!!!!
  2. My local (wisconsin) target had some of the smaller kingdom sets on clearance.
  3. Since I have three Lava Monsters, When I set up a board for them, I will be using the rule that the first LM is fought as normal, the second is fought using two dice and the third using three. This way the monsters will get tougher over time. Oh, and I think I'll call them lords of illusion instead of LM Also, I came up with an idea for the Barbarian. If you use the hit point rules, then have the the Barbarian defeat all adjacent monsters on a shield roll, instead of damaging them on a shield roll. I'd apply the same rule to the axe as well.
  4. They told me that officially it's worth 0 dollars, so at that point I did commit the retail sin of asking if that meant it was free.* But she said no. I offered to pay 25% of the original price and she refused. If it was a set I REALLY wanted I would have pushed more. I work retail and my company keeps items in the system for years. Why does target remove them so quickly? *Yes, it is a sin to ask if it's free as a joke. Especially if it's obviously a glitch in the computer or a missing price tag. I work retail and one day one of my coworkers endured this joke 23 times. It's not funny.
  5. I found a prince of persia set marked at 50% off. Since it was the last one, I thought it might be 75% by this time, so I tried two price scanners, but both had an error. So I brought it to the customer service desk, where I was told that they didn't carry that item anymore. I offered to buy it but they REFUSED. Now, despite my use of caps, I'm not angry. I didn't want the set that much anyway, but it's just so strange that a store refused money and moved a set from "clearance" to "doesn't exist" so soon. eh ...wierd
  6. Yeah, When I see a bogo sale I try and get multiples of the same set. Also, not all toys r us prices are inflated, you just have to compare to find the deals. Anyway not TRU has BOGO 1/2 on MOST legos
  7. I didn't declutter so much as moved stuff around. I had a lot of Boxes of clearance legos sitting around, and I finally decided to do two big projects with them (one sci-fi, one fantasy) so I opened the boxes and sorted by color. White Greys, red and Black in one pile, browns and tan in another and "other" in the third pile. I ended up with a heap of boxes, which I suppose I should have saved to hang on the wall....but oh well. So, not that I've condensed the sets and worked on a big project, I lost all my table space, but the rest of my apartment looks a lot better.
  8. I'm hoping that splat and the 1x1 round tiles come in black. What good is a Samurai Jack MOC without a pool of oil around the robot kills?
  9. I LOVE that idea, but I think I'd only use it with a really big bad monster, like a dragon. I mean, look, even at three dice you have a 70% chance of loosing. This would really accentuate teamwork though. Everyone has to take a swing at the final monster, instead of the quickest character with a lucky swing defeating the boss. Now I need to figure out how to make a microsized dragon.
  10. So, there are two types of roofs. One made from sloped bricks, like they did when I was a kid and the new technique to put a plate on a hinge brick and slant it. I can see advantages in both types. The parts collector in me really likes the slope pieces, and it's easier to make a different sized roof from slope bricks. Now the other type of roof, I first saw in this set, 2009 "the Farm" http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7637-1 and I hated it. Mainly because it made the barn looked like scafolding with a tarp thrown on it, but it does make the roof look....wrong. Now I've got these... Mill Village Raid http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7189-1 Blacksmith Attack http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6918-1 The Mill http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=4183-1 And I have to admit that I'm ok with the roof technique. Perhaps it's the few detail pieces added to it, or perhaps it's because they are using large plates instead of tiles and that makes it easier to customize it. In any case I like these roofs a whole lot better. anoyone else have an opinion on roofs?
  11. I just bought two "Lava Monster" games today for the parts, and I've been thinking about ways to use the monster in Heroica, Just using hit point rules doesn't seem like enough for a large stature monster like this or a Giant (someone mentioned using the CMF caveman as a giant) Here's what I came up with. When fighting the lava monster, roll two dice and take the worse of the two rolls. It also occured to me you could use this rule in reverse as well. When fighting a scorpion the rule could be to roll two dice and take the better result.
  12. I recently got the Mill Village Attack and I noticed that the cardboard box has perforations so that the box could be resealed, similarly to a cereal box. Perhaps this has been going on for a while, but this is the first one I've noticed.
  13. I look forward to your new ideas. Especially "flooded" tiles. I did have an idea for the 1x2 tiles with 1 stud that are used in draida bay. Perhaps on those tiles heroes can not jump over each other due to the narrowness of the bridge (or tunnel) Characters who loose a hit point when on a bridge do not get pushed back 1 space if there is someone behind them, UNLESS they loose all their hit points. In that case they get pushed behind the player adjacent to them.
  14. On most of my trips I've gotten into discussions with managers who are willing to order pieces for the PAB wall if you have a request or let you fill from the K boxes they keep in the back. I doesn't hurt to ask! Yeah, Ive done something similar before, but it can be very time consuming to do this. Plus 2x4s and 2x2s are pretty cheap in buckets and junior sets, so I agree with you. Only if they have rare colors.
  15. Actually there are 6 Barbarian, Knight, Wizard, Druid, Thief and Ranger If you want to make up your own rules for the various ninjas and explorers in the other games, I say go for it.
  16. I can't find the cypress tree from a set I had when I was a kid. I know I've lost other small pieces over the years but a large tree!?!?! I work in a store next to a target so my coworkers occasionally find a piece and give it to me. I found a string net from one of the indiana jones sets a while back. Also when I was working for a camp One of my coworkers found a few pieces for me.
  17. My local target is now selling Prince of Persia for half off.
  18. I Didn't really have a plan for the scorpions when I bought them, except maybe as heroica enemies. I just thought "Scorpions are Cool!" and dumped them in. When I was sorting the pieces I stacked them in a spiral and they look very cool that way. In the end I'll probably use them as Fleebnorks for a moonbase module, even though fleebnorks are supposed to be transparent neon green.
  19. Monona WI wallmart has Construct a Zurg for $5 (most are priced wrong) and Monster 4 and Lava Monster for $7
  20. It sort of depends. I planned a lot this summer. I decided I would like two mill village raids, a blacksmith, a whitecap bay, two mills, a london escape and a captain's cabin. I then decided that two blacksmiths and captain's cabins would be OK if I could get them on sale. This allows me to take optimal use of any BOGO sales. Now I am waiting for sales on the Kingdom sets and WB and LE. It's also a good idea to have a list (mental or physical) when going to a lego store. I'd love some 2x2 radar dishes in unusual colors. I also wouldn't mind some more 2x2x2 slope bricks (used as dresses) or 1x2x1 panels due to some unusual textures I saw online a while back. Since the lego store didn't have any, I decided to see what else they had. I plan on making a large "troll Fortress" so brown log bricks are cool, gray log bricks are also usefull for that and for space structures. You also need to have some sort of smaller "Filler" piece so I got 1x1 tiles with clips. That being said, there's something to be said for impulse buying. It introduces you to pieces that can inspire you. I impulse bought mermaid tails and some other minifig parts, a lego game, Brickley the sea serpent. Whenever I see clearance lego, I have to decide whether to get it or not. My advise is to get it, save the receipt and look up an inventory online to see whether it is worth keeping or not. Of course, since I'm buying so much this summer, I'm passing up a lot of clearance that I would have kept last year.
  21. On Friday at the Shaumburg Store I got 71 Black Scorpions 145 Clear 1x2 Bricks 43 Dark Stone 1x2 log bricks 189 Brown 1x2 log bricks 134 Dark Stone 1x1 tile with clip on top 1 trans red 1x1 round plate 1 black 2x2 brick 1 clear 2x4x2 windshield Also, the Store manager told me that soon more variety will be available at the PAB walls, because some of the K boxes will cost $150 instead of $70. An example would be horses or scorpions. So most of the items will not be going up in price, they are just doing this to insure that rarer pieces are available.
  22. One of my local librbaries has a decent anime selection, so I've been browsing. Dragonball Z: If you accept it for the limitations that it was made a couple of decades ago it's quite interesting. Plus it's hand drawn Steam Detective: Skip it. It's only interesting feature is how they manage to get by will less animation (covering up a character's mouth as they speak as an example Trigun: One problem I have with a lot of anime is that when I find one I really like, it is either canceled or has a bad ending...not this one. If you like anime put this on your must see list. Bamboo Blade: Excellent....I've only watched about 4 episodes but I love this. Don't skip the end credits or you will miss some hilarous "Next Episode" teasers
  23. There are rules for some of the relics. Chalice of life can be used to heal 2 points at the expense of loving that turn. The helmet basically gives you an extra hit point. There's no official rule for the crystal, but your idea is cool. The scepter allows you to take a defeated enemy of another players "Hero Pack" (the thing that records what you character has) and place it anywhere on the board. I like your idea better than the official rule.
  24. I'm one of those odd people who will find inconsistencies in a movie. Fortunately I don't point them out to others during the movie, but the Mill scene as seen in set 4183 has got me wondering so I thought I'd see if anyone has seen a real mill anything like this. Yes I'm aware that all of these inconsistencies can be written off as "It made for a good swashbuckling scene. But I want to see if there are any OTHER reasons for them. #1 Location....it's at the top of a hill. The Mill has no water scource #2 The wheel This thing doesn't look like water would turn it. Perhaps it is a Treadwheel (a mill powered by people) But I haven't seen one that looks like this. Have any of you? #3 The bell....is this a mill or a church?
  25. This was an expensive weekend for me. I visited the Shaumberg IL legoland and lego store on friday and I got... a. My first K-box! approx 1890 wall element 1 x 2 x 2 in clear b. I got two "build a minifigure" kits....one was free, the other was at the legoland center and they had mermaid tails!! 8 mermaid tails, 8 assorted Legs, including 2 dark red hips and legs and torsos with some sort of asian pattern on them that I can't identify, 2 "Blacksmith" torsos, 1 "pirate wench" torso, 2 heads with a weird cyber goggles and spots pattern (I assume it's from agents) a top hat, a black fedora, a red "Bob" cut hair and a long light yellow hair\ c. Of course you almost HAVE to get a pick a pick container: 71 Black scorpions, 145 Clear 1x2 brick, 43 Dark Stone 1x2 log brick, 189 Brown Log Brick, 134 Dark Stone 1x1 tile with clip on top...and of course, the "Where did that come from?" bits a trans red 1x1 round plate, a black 2x2 brick and a clear car windsheild d. Ramses return in a damaged box e. set 40019 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/40019-1 (Brickley...hee hee hee) Then I found the target sale on sunday so I got two Pirate Mill sets and two captains cabin sets
