Yes, the sabertooth tiger is cool. As well as the other prehistoric animals like mammoth and mouse. But imo these animals are with the lack of a (decent sized) static station and mainly completely oversized vehicles the only good thing in the whole new Arctic theme!
-
Exactly my thoughts! Having only very huge rides but nearly no side structures (in a decent size / in a size in the same scale like the rides) makes a fairground not only unrealistic but even less interesting (looking).

For those who maybe haven't seen the (?) exclusive 41345 Animal Care Center yet (since at the first time it to my knowledge didn't show up): I really like TLG for giving us that set! Personally I would have prefered two regular shops (at the best one on the left and a different one on the right side, possbily even an apartment upstairs) over an animal care center. And sidewalls on the second floor would have been better, too. But the architecture is stunning! We luckily get two floors which makes every Lego house looking much more realistic and interesting. Plus I really like it having complete sidewalls at least on the ground floor. And that it is (in contrast to the majority of the Friends set) only 10x32 is perfect, too, since this way it does need less place and goes much better with City sets!

Thank you all very much for the info! The Candy Shop looks nice, but the stairs on the side look weird and a decent second floor is definately missing! The Truck Show is ok. Apart from that some stickers on the Yacht would have been nice, it does look awesome! And so does even the Pirates Rollercoaster with all its great details (only a pity that there's no function to get the train up)!

Thank you all very much for the info! I'm not interested in the smaller sets, plus the summer ressort doesn't seem to be that great than I had thought. And the racing area isn't my cup of coffee, too. But the tuning workshop, the burger shop, the accessory shop and the animal care center do look really amazing! Plus they will for sure fit very well in a regular Lego City, too!
-
Why?! I wouldn't they so. In contrast exclusive sets get their exclusivity even from special elements or elements in different color or design which aren't available in regular sets: e. g. last year's Jungle subtheme had a tiger.

Thank you all very much for the info! At the moment I must say that I can't share the same enthusiasm the most of you do: Yes, the set looks nice and very realistic, there's a ticket booth and even a lemonade stand and a cotton candy stand exist as some small sidestructures. But for its immense size it's disappointing that there's no looping and there's not much decoration (lamps, signs, etc.). Plus the size is really, really huge. Another model of this size won't have place in my collection. That it has to be more expensive than the previours Fairground sets is clear - 200 Euro would be fitting, even 250 would already hurt - but 320 would really be usury! There are only three waggons per train (I would have prefered one large train instead) and the number of minifigs is very low. Besides I'm really disappointed of TLG not including any bigger sized sidestructures like food vans or vans with shooting gallerys, ... in their Fairground sets! I can't deny that I get the impression that the Fairground sets rather tend to get standalone sets than sets to build up a whole fairground with all of them together. I'll finally judge after having seen the press release. But I fear that it won't change much.

@Johnmeel , you were correct - 60196 is definately the Artic Supply Aircraft: brickset has a pic of it: The aircraft is ok, the small accessory, too. But that overdimensional truck with spinning saw looks ugly! Plus there's again a sable tooth tiger and no sign of the rumored caveman and orca. Perhaps there'll be another Arctic Exclusive with an ice-breaker in which the caveman and the orca will appear? I really do hope not - since I really want at least one civilian building in 2018 City and at the best a whole new Town Plan for its anniversary!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Klaus-Dieter replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I really hope that we'll see much more non-licensed series in the future. And please non-themed! Regular series offer a huge variety: You find characters of historic periods as well as today's ones and even some futuristic ones plus there are always some customed minifigs, too - so the perfect selection for everyone (and not only for a special part of TLG's customers). E. g. in the beginning of the CMS I always bought minifigs of all series. And these partly were three series a year. In contrast to for example this year (2018) when I buy minifigs from only one series (namely series 18); the other two series don't interest me in any way since I'm neither Batman / TLBM nor HP fan. So I'm disappointed and Lego does get less money from me. Bad for both, I'd say. -
Do you know for sure that it has this set number? Because 60189 (the set number before all the regular sold Arctic sets) is still vacant, too.
-
Over at zusammengebaut someone has insider information and posted a list of the D2C sets for this year in the comments. And he clearly states that the Creator Expert Rollercoaster will be release in June with VIP early release (on 16th) May.

60196 is listed as "Station" via brickmerge. We saw the leaked retailer catalogue about two (?) months ago and there this set number wasn't listed. But I remember last year when the Hot Chocolate Van in the Friends theme hadn't been listed in the reailer cataogue and pics did show up very late, too. And finally it went out to be a regular set and was in the customers catalogue for summer. So what do you think? Thanks for the info, dimaks13!

60196 is listed as "Station" via brickmerge. Plus 60199, 60200 and 60203 are listed as 2018 City sets, too. No prices or further info of them. What do you think?

REVIEW: 71021 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18
Klaus-Dieter replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the info, WhiteFang! Although here in Germany it looks like if they were only sold via S@H at the moment and in regular toy shops firstly in May (or late April). At least TRU hasn't listed them. So I still need to wait. But I ordered one box via a local toy shop. So I for sure will get at least one Classic Policeman. (And then I do need to resell some of the not needed minifigs in order to get some money back.) -
Here is an idea which would imo go perfectly with the Mountain Police sets as well as mainly the Fun in the Mountains sets: Mountain Sports Shop corner house in a similar style to the bikeshop in the city place from 2013, but with a climbing wall on one side first floor: entrance, cashpoint, clothing and equipment for hiking second floor: clothing and equipment for downhill biking, wildwater sports and camping 6 studs wide grey-blue pickup with car doors and with loading area with tailboard for transporting stuff for hiking / downhilling / wildwater sports / camping accessory: see above minifigs: female shop owner, male customer and boy What do you think? Because of the two reasons (only real existing things in City and no violence (meaning arms) in City) you mentioned, I fear it's excluded that there'll ever be one.
-
Two more ideas I'd like TLG to release: Art Gallery a on the floor triangular modern house out of mainly dark-trans glas with white pillars in between first floor: entrance and rooms with pictures second floor: rooms with sculptures third floor: art shop with pictures, post cards etc. to buy and small cafe plus roof terrace Roller-Skate Club a bit raised ancient archtitecture style building in mainly tan color with huge and subdivided windows first floor: outside: wide (but not very tall) stairs to the big entrance, inside: huge roller-skating area with loudspeakers, mirror ball and different spotlights, music stage with band equipment on the right side and cloakroom on the left side second floor: huge balcony from which you can watch the roller-skating area, with chairs, tables and bar What do you think?

Thank you very much for the info, @Digger of Bricks! If TLG released the rollercoaster exactly like in the prelim, then the rollercoaster would imo be one of the best sets ever! With its many underwater and over water details, it's really a masterpiece of work! The yacht really grows on me - esp. all the nice details on the beach. I'm no big cars fan, so the monster truck show is for me not that interesting, but for sure a nice addition to a fairground. In contrast, the pastry shop is with its missing second floor (a terrace doesn't count) and the useless stairs and additional stuff on the right side very disappointing.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 poll
Klaus-Dieter replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's an interesting poll, WhiteFang! I am really looking forward to this series and hope that this one brings back the popularity of the regular CMS (but aren't very convinced about this, since TLG otherwise could have planned more CMF series for this year). My top three minifigs are: - Party Clown (because the two balloon animals look stunning) - Birthday Party Boy (because he has a new kid's pants, a new hair piece, a CMF bag and a party balloon and fits very well in my city) - Cowboy Costume Guy (because I can use the minifig without the horse part for my Western diorama) -
REVIEW: 71021 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18
Klaus-Dieter replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you very much for this great review, WhiteFang! I would have prefered a regular (and not themed) series. Since we get only one non-licensed series this year any - which is really a shame. Apart from this, I find this series outstanding. Of course the price per minifig is hurting. But in contrast to the last non-licensed series, in this series 4 Euros for a minifig is imo justified since there are really so many new moulds (nearly min. one for every fig). I find this review very helpful and useful. To me, the distribution allocation number made no diefference. I prefer the traditional LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series. As long as a series is an "in-house-license" like TLM or TLNM (not TLBM!), it's ok with me since you don't have to pay for the license and therefore get many different and useful minifigs. But "normal" licensed series are absolutely not my taste. I wish back the beginning of the CMS, when there were two, sometimes even three regular series a year. (And when the minifigs were sold for a reasonable price.) -
Imo the 2013 Castle sets had colors and a design like from a video game (only remember the flags at the king's castle). In contrast, the Kingdoms sets had a more realistic color palette and didn't look like a licensed set from a video game but more like myth sets with a lot of realism.
-
Thank you all very much for the info! No Arctic set has a base - really disappointing. So I very likely won't buy the sets but will try to buy the animals seperated since they are great and would make a nice prehistoric scene together with the caveman and -woman. 707 pieces would make a set price of max. 100 Euros. So there should be another City Exclusive. Hopefully some sort of Town Plan, but maybe and more likely even something smaller like a train station. Am I right?
-
Very interesting discussion! I'm hoping that much for the Castle theme returning, too! But only if TLG did design the sets in a classic way. Imo Kingdoms was the best Castle theme ever because firstly it gave us the classic feeling the sets of the 80s and 90s offered and secondly it did offer many civilian sets and even an exclusive tournament! But I hope that if TLG brought back the theme, they will offer us even something new or since long before not seen: e. g. one fraction could be forest people, we could see the long awaited siege tower with the enemies entering a castle wall, there could be an attack on a watermill, a modular style huge exclusive Castle set (going with the tournament set from 2012) would be very appealing, too etc. etc. etc. Plus it would be cool it TLG gave us new fractions since always only lion knights vs. dragon knights is really boring. The best would be to offer forest people. Otherwise give us shields with armorial bearings or at least since long before not seen animals like a wolf or a bear. Which I for sure do not want to see are a fantasy theme like the one(s) before Kingdoms, crazy designs and unfitting colors like in the last Castle theme or only the always repeating king's castles with only a bit additional stuff. If TLG didn't plan to bring back a (nice and "realistic") Castle theme, then at least an Exclusive would be very nice - a huge modular Castle fitting the tournament from 2012, a medieval village fitting the Village Raid from 2011 or a new market place fitting the Medieval Market Village from 2009.

Thank you very much for the info, @ddavid! 320 Euros?! That would be really, really much money and about the doube price of all Fairground sets before. Plus I can't imagine what will be in this set that justifies the big price! Maybe a dragon rollercoaster driving through a classic castle - like in the Legoland Parks? Hopefully there will be a lot of side structures like stalls selling food and smaller attractions like a shooting gallery - which I really missed in the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel. And I even hope that it won't be too big - otherwise it wouldn't go with the Fairground sets so far (imo the carousel was already too big in comparison to the Fairground Mixxer (imo the best set of the line so far)).

Maybe there'll be an exclusive City or Creator Expert train next year. But I highly doubt it this year. 1. Since 2010 there hasn't been a whole Trains theme and an exclusive train set the same year. 2. We don't get a train station this year, in total only two train sets - which is imo a bad sign for the theme's popularity. 3. Last year was the birthday of the Trains theme. And nevertheless no single set was released therefore, not even a small mini diorama or a microscale train as GWP - which was really a shame. 4. There are already so many - sadly mainly licensed - exclusive sets this year. Sorry to have to say this! I agree. With TLG's current policy very likely not earlier.
