  1. First of all here some of my new ideas for new City set which I really, really would like: Here are some set wishes I have for a possible Folk Festival theme in the City theme (no April Fool!): Ferris Wheel consists of three parts: 1. Ferris Wheel Ferris wheel (with six gondolas) with cashpoint including some coupons and some tools minifigs: female shop owner, worker and a couple 2. Shooting Gallery shooting gallery with a lot of details including a lot of accessory and some guns minifigs: male shop owner, father with baby buggy and little son 3. "Candy Stall" "candy stall" with big sales counter, popcorn machine and machine for candy floss including a lot of candy stuff and accessory minifigs: female shop owner, mother and little daughter Rollercoaster rollercoaster (may use the tracks of the IJ set "Temple of Doom") with either one big carriage or minimum three seperate carriages including some coupons and some tools minifigs: male shop owner, worker, two women and two men Merry-Go-Round merry-go-round with animals, cars and motor cycles including some coupons and some tools minifigs: female shop owner, father and two children Fairground consists of two parts: 1. "Ball Stand" "ball stand" with pyramides of balls including some balls and tins minifigs: female shop owner and little girl 2. "Luncheonette" "luncheonette" (where you can buy mainly sausages and drinks) with some tables in front to eat includings some sausages and some drinks minifigs: cook, little boy and mother Balloon Seller including a lot of different coloured ballons minifig: ballon seller The Ferris Wheel, the rollercoaster and the merry-go-round could function with the new PFs. An illumination mainly of the Ferris Wheel but even of all the other fairground rides and all the stalls would be amazing! A Folk Festival theme - and there mainly a Ferris wheel, a "candy stall" and a shooting gallery would be absolutely awesome! Klaus-Dieter

    City '09?

Thank you very much for those pics, Zzz! I don't want to destroy anyone's hopes (since I would destory in this way my hopes, too). But I'm very sceptic about whether that wind power plant shown on this pic will be the official set 7747 Wind Turbine Transport: 1. I don't think that TLG will show pics of this set already three or four months before its release. 2. If this wind power plant on the pic is the one of 7747, why isn't then there the transporter for its turbine on the pic, too?! 3. The wind turbine looks very small. It was said that it should be smaller than the Vestas one - but that small?! If this is really the official set then that would be really disappointing. 4. There are always many buildings, vehicles, minifigs and accessory on those pics in Lego catalogues, Club magazines, ... which aren't official but only put there in order to have some additions to the official sets and make the layout looking nicer. So seriously I really doubt that this will be the official set. Here again I think I must disappoint you, svelte_corps. It's highly supposably that some shop employees did describe 7747 wrong and so the rumour of a merry-go-round set arised. I don't say that a fairground set is impossible - and like already mentioned this would be absolutely awesome and and I surely would buy it even if it'll be up too 200 Euros (if so I'd have to let out some of this year's SW OT sets - but City has always first priority) - but imo it's very unlikely. As for the rollercoaster: I regrettably don't see that happen - even not in 100 years. Klaus-Dieter
  4. Supposably you're right. Sorry. Klaus-Dieter
  5. On youtube I found .The person who posted it there writes in his comment that many of these sets he shows there are sets of this year and the last years. And that's with most of them the case. At around 1:16 you can see the 6090 Royal Knight's Castle. Do you think that this might be a hint for what we might see as the second exclusive Castle set (about which there are rumours that it is a jubilee set) or do you think that it is nothing of importance? Klaus-Dieter
  6. That's a very interesting topic, Eilif! When I was a child I from time to time got some little Lego sets as presents when my grandmother visited us. And then when I was around ten years I somtimes bought some Lego sets, too. But two days after getting them at the latest I picked them to pieces in order to build my own MOCs. So the first set which I bought, still own and which is still absolutely complete was/is 6090 Ninja Fortress . Klaus-Dieter
  7. No. You can't see it on the pics of the Lego catalogue but in reality it comes with a surface area of gold foil. PF motorized trains - mainly that rechargeable battery - are (at least in financial regard) a total regress - and not an advance! Klaus-Dieter
  8. While searching for "Lego Merry-go-round" I found following awesome MOC (or preliminary set?): Merry-go-round Isn't that totally awesome?! Do you think that it is a MOC or an official set? Although I really hope that TLG will offer some folk festival sets within the City theme to us (and a merry-go-round and a Ferris wheel would be totally awesome!) I hope that we\'ll never get that a huge set - what do you think it would cost?! Klaus-Dieter
  9. I totally agree with you, Lord Santos! I don't see TLG releasing a spupermarket as an exclusive set since JFOLs surely would really like a supermarket, too, and so it wouldn't be wise to release it not as a regular set. But a zoo might be possible as an exclusive set since it would need a lot of new molds which would make it expensive and therefore perhaps even better as an Exclusive than a regular set. But of course nobody knows. I can't wait for Friday to see the (hopefully by one of our member presented) voting options. Klaus-Dieter
  10. I totally agree with you, Richie! Of course TLG can't totally keep away fantasy from Castle sets since if they should be designed historical accurate then they wouldn't look that charming than e. g. the awesome 10193 MMV looks like since the Middle Ages were everything other than glorious and nice. But a mixture of human and fantasy creatures is simply ! Like mentioned in the first post of this topic imo dragons, ghosts, wizzards and witchs are ok - everything more is for an only Classic Castle fan (like me) unacceptable! These are great ideas, Richie, but because of the danger of religious conflicts I don't see TLG releasing anything similar to them. Nevertheless TLG could release some Arabian knights since this would be a welcome variety in contrast to always only Eurpean knights! Klaus-Dieter
  11. It's great to see so many being interested in this topic! About the car itself: I think that it wasn't too small since it should supposable only be a post van which brings mails to people. And these little post vans which most of the time don't transport big packets are e. g. here in Germany not very big, too. TLG could - and that was which I even thought and really hoped when I saw this nice post van the first time - release a post office with a big six stuck wide post van (in size similar to the last ambulance) which then could deliver packets, too. Thank you very much for that information, Hinckley! That's odd - in Germany this set is not yet on the list. If I remember right it was sold out already short after Xmas. I don't live in the US and so I'm even not very familiar with Lefo fans' likes and dislikes there. Nevertheless I'm very sceptic about whether the post van would have sold better there when it would have been designed in typical for US post colors. I think that TLG decided to use yellow/red for the post vehicles since 1. there are many countries in which post vans are in yellow color, 2. because they wanted to sell one unique generic version and not to sell different designs and 3. simply because this is a nice color combination which mainly kids like (and be aware that JFOLs are the main audience for TLG's regular sets). I know that there have been only two minifig-scaled post office in TLG's past - which is really a shame! (Sorry to say that but it's like that.) But I don't think that this must necessarily mean that we won't get a post office in the next years: 1. There has been only one pizzeria before 7641. Did anyone think that we'll get a new pizzeria this year?! There have been only a very limited number of cycle shops before 7641. Did anyone think that we'll get a new cycle shop this year?! So why shouldn't TLG surprise us with a post office next year or the year after next year?! At that since TLG seems to offer some civilian sets to us - which is a great direction! 2. Last summer TLG asked the AFOL community (and so even us here on EB) which future City sets we want. And they wanted only to get either completely new ideas or ideas of sets which haven't appeared for a very long while. And since a post office is one of the very demanded sets (which are bank, mall, family house and zoo, too) it would be unwise if TLG doesn't release a new post office. Klaus-Dieter

    City '09?

One more question: Did they really say that it is a set which goes with / looks alike Town Plan - or did you conclude that? Because: A wind power plant with transport vehicle can imo only very hardly be mixed up with a set alike Town Plan (with buildings which surely aren't part of 7747) - even if you can have a look at it for only some few seconds. When they had problems with describing the set they talked about, it is very supposable that they either even don't know what a merry-go-round is or they intentionally told you something wrong since actually they aren't allowed to give away that secret information - and not even more when the release date is firstly in about four months. City '09?

Thank you very much for clarifying that, emilec! It's very supposably like I feared: They surely meant the 7747 Wind Turbine Transport. It would have been to good to see a merry-go-round! Klaus-Dieter
  14. Whether looking into the regular Lego catalogue, the S@H catalogue or at S@H directly - the 7731 Post Van has gone this year. It seems that TLG did decide to not produce this post van after the end of last year any longer. This set was - surely not only in my opinion - a great little City set for a raisonable price: a nice minifig, a mailbox, two letters and a nice car - the only thing which regrettably was missing were car doors. So why was its production stopped?! Of course it might be that TLG decided at the end of last year to release a post office with a new post van in 2010. But this would imo be only a very faint reason since if so they could at least sell it until summer this year. Imo the answer to this question is very simple: the lack of a post office! When we got the information about the post van and the post plane being released in April 2008 many of us betted that there then will be a post office in summer 2008 - or at least at the last in this year's summer. But our hopes got destroyed: there's no new post office until now. And that is surely the reason why 7749 was perhaps not that demanded and so was consequently stopped producing. Whereas the post plane does not necessarily has to belong to a post theme since it can be easily added to all the airport sets as an additional set, the post van does not make much sense and does not offer enough playability and realism without a post office. So let's hope that TLG will offer a post office next year! What do you think? Comments are welcome! Klaus-Dieter
  15. Thank you very much for that news, emilec! Are you really sure that this wasn't a joke or some wrong information concerning the merry-go-round? Please answer here since I think this topic should only be used to talk about the new CC styled building. Klaus-Dieter

    City '09?

In this topic our member emilec writes: Thank you very much for that news, emilec! Are you really sure that this wasn't a joke or some wrong information concerning the merry-go-round? On the one hand I'm really sceptical about this information: 1. There shall be coming out the set 7477 Wind Turbine Transport this year. Perhaps the member of staff wasn't looking very carefully at this set (about which we regrettably haven't got any pics or more information until now) and then mixed up something and now thought that this was a merry-go-round (because of "something that turns" and the PF functions). 2. It sounds very unsupposably that TLG will release a merry-go-round - and for the City theme even more. Plus there is no existing line until now in which it directly would fit. 3. There are so many City sets this year so that it is very unsupposable that there'll be another one. 4. We will (supposably) already get the 7747 Wind Turbine Transport this year as an exclusvie City set. And the Emerald Night could be count to City Exclusives, too. And I don't believe that there'll be more than one or two exclusive City sets in the same year. 5. Did the member of staff tell you when this set shall be released? Because perhaps he mixed something up and this might be one of the choices for the (supposable) exclusive TRU City set next year (see Town 2010). On the other hand I'm not totally sure that this information is wrong: 1. The set number 7640 is (after my knowledge) not used until now although we have sets with the numbers 7638, 7639 and then 7641, 7642 this year - this might possibly be a hint for a set which is hept secret until now. 2. The (supposable) 7747 Wind Turbine set supposably won't be more than 100 Euros. Last year's CG Platform was 70 Euros and the Town Plan was 150 Euros - together 220 Euros. When you calculate like this there would be a space of about 120 Euros for another exclusvie City set this year. 3. Since TLG did now develop the new PF functions a merry-go-round would be a perfect possibility to use it. 4. Perhaps TLG did decide on short notice not to release the Wind Turbine Transport set (this year) - but (because of which reasons soever) decided to release a merry-go-round. But not being aible to get a wind power plant would for me be much worse than no merry-go-round! 5. AFOLs but even JFOLs would like this set very much. 6. TLG did take us by surprise in this and last year with City sets nobody would have expected - so you never can now what will come next! Be that as it may: It would be totally :oh: if TLG releases a merry-go-round and perhaps some other folk festival stuff! If TLG releases that possible merry-go-round set that would be really  - and I surely would buy it! What do you think? Klaus-Dieter
  17. Thanks, Majek! Thanks, def! I originally wanted to add some brick-built mosaics to the walls. But since the walls are only one stuck bright it doesn't function. Then I wanted to add some stickers - but because of time reasons and because I didn't find enough good mosaics I decided to not do. But of course it would look even better with some mosaics on the walls - I totally agree. Yes, if TLG does not add too many fantasy elements to it, Romans would be (after a new Wild West theme) a great theme! Of course there then should be even some well-known ancient buildings such as a Roman villa, a part of the Colosseum, a part of the Palatin and a citadel. Klaus-Dieter
  18. That seemed to be the case with all teh other battle packs. You just had to wait one year. But there is also a big chanse that the 2010 Bettle packs will be Hoth related. Anyway, this is a clear indication why Lego want's to keep the future releases top-secret, seeiing how it can influence our shopping behaviour. I wouldn't be that sure about that the 2010 BPs will be OT. Of course it would be logic since there was always a change between OT and PT/CW the last years. But that doesn't say anything for the future. I fear that after this year (2009) which sees some awesome OT sets we won't get many OT sets in the future because TLG will regrettably mainly concentrate on CW. So it might even be that next year's January BPs will be CW. Apart from that I think that some Endor BPs are - if there are OT BPs - the most supposable since then you could add many additional minifigs to The Battle of Endor. Some Hoth BPs are totally unrealistic since we already have this big Hoth BP (Echo Base) this summer. The only Hoth related set I could imagine for 2010 would be a Wampa cave with Wampa, Luke and another Tauntaun. I surely will buy the Endor set since it is great. And what is a Battle of Endor without the bunker?! - Nothing! Klaus-Dieter
  19. Thank you very much for that news, Holodoc! 220 Euros as exceptional price?! Am I here in the wrong movie?! A train with a locomotive that has no controls inside, a badly designed chimney and no doors, a tender without coal pieces and a dinig car with only two cups, no coffee machine or other accessory and only three minifigs. And for that and all the stuff that it is aible to drive 220 Euros?! That's really usury! Don't you realise that the only thing because of which this new train set looks so nice is the new driving function?! Bad job, TLG! I surely won't buy this set with its PF additions to drive it - and I surely will even not make advertising since this is really usury. I hope that we'll see some nice and affordable train sets next year! Klaus-Dieter
  20. I don't know prateek. I only wanted to say that an exclusive City set does not neccessarily mean that it is 150 Euros like 10184 - or even more. It might be 100 Euros like 10193 - or even less (remember last year's CG Platform which was a hard-to-find set and which cost 70 Euros). Klaus-Dieter
  21. Possible. Remark that the masket set stands between the Green Grocer and the Taj Mahal. So it might be a CC styled building. But it even might be a collector set like Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower or CW Käfer. Klaus-Dieter
  22. Thank you very much for this excellent report, TheBrickster! Now I understand much more why you chose this castle for your Grave Stone series. And I must say that your Lego models are very near to the real castle - very, very well done! Do you plan to build Scotty's tomb (with ghost and frightened cowboy of course), too? Klaus-Dieter
  23. Thanks for sharing these new pics, TheBrickster! Indeed your Grimwell Manor seems to grow and grow and get bigger and bigger - great! I really like to see that you took one pic of your Grimwell Manor at day and one pic at night since I think that at day ghost towns and abandoned buildings are surely not that spooky. It's only at night. But surely all the good guys avoid Grimwell Manor because nobody knows whether the ghost not even might come out at daylight and walk around - am I right? Btw: I really would like to see some pics of the interior. Did you already add some interior to it? Klaus-Dieter
  24. I think both ideas are great! The current knight minifigs are great, and could be useful, but keep the fantasy part away from these sets... I totally agree with you both! The best thing would imo be to use the now existing Crown soldiers as the "good" knights since their torsos and equipment is very well done. For the aggressors I think TLG could either use updated versions of older fractions. But imo a new fraction with a really new emblem would be perfect! What about a yellow tower in front of a black background? Or simply some red rhombs on white background? There are so many possibilities! But please not again an animal or a crown! Excellent ideas, Richie! The most I like the idea of a battering ram! How awesome would that be if TLG releases a realistic battering ram! It's a shame that I totally forgot for a big siege tower! So here some (new) ideas for the agressors: -set 4: big battering ram (with roof that guards the agressors against stones, arrows and hot oil and pitch from the crownies), two soldiers -set 5: little catapult, scaling ladder, two soliers, one crossbow knight -set 6: castle wall, big siege tower (with drawbridge), three soldiers, one archer, one crownie ... Klaus-Dieter
  25. I totally agree with all of you - different sets with different castle wall pieces and towers which can be connected would be absolutely necessary! And they surely would be sold well! As an example: -set 1: "simple" castle wall, one soldier -set 2: tower, a crossbow knight -set 3: castle wall with battlement, tower with little catapult, two archers, one soldier -set 4: gate with castle wall between two little towers, portcullis, drawbridge and machicolation, horse, knight, three soldiers ... And as counterpart then there could be a human fraction of aggressors: -set 1: catapult, tent, "crush barrier" (to hide for the archer), horse, three soldiers, one archer -set 2: horse, one knight, one soldier, one archer, one crossbow knight -set 3: soldier ... Klaus-Dieter
