  1. Thank-you. In regards to the connectors behind the seats being left in for rigidity. Do you think this affects the body mod?
  2. Was it just an esthetic change? What step number did you make this change? I'm gathering all the small changes everyone is doing before I build mine.
  3. Did you have to shorten an axle somewhere to make that work?
  4. Once you practice with the remote for awhile, I actually find it easier and quicker to use the red stop button. For instance when driving forward pushing the bucket, just pressing the red button allows you now to go backwards as fast as you want and quickly by rotating downwards. Then again pressing the red button quickly stops and you will have full motion going forwards again. I actually found this remote most useful on the ICARUS as I found the steering was full or nothing. This really allowed small adjustments. Also keep in mind for the VOLVO you need to adjust the cables so the servo motor and driving motor are on the same IR receiver which by default, they are not.
  5. I have the set sitting at home but I have decided to wait and see what builders do and the problems may get fixed.
  6. It has almost full motion. If you start it below the mid-way point, you easily get full forward motion. As someone also pointed out, you can use the red button. That is where my inspiration came from. That design may work with tracked vehicles but did not work with Volvo. It steers and moves forward / backwards at same time. Mine allows precise control. I built it awhile ago so I know there is room for improvement. It was a quick and dirty with the parts I had at the time. There is a new part that came out which I was going to try to use to clean it up a bit. Technic, Arm with Gear 8 Tooth and 1.5L Axle Enjoy. Takes a bit of time to get use to the controls but once you do, it works great.
  7. I created this setup for the Volvo loader to control the jerky steering. I have found it also works well with cars like the ICARUS with a servo motor to control the steering better.
  8. My understanding was it was hooked up to the fake engine which is connected to the transmission / gearbox which is then connected to the wheels. If the gearbox jams, the wheels don't spin. I may be wrong, but I think the problem lies with the knob gears not being 90 DEG, which another poster had also mentioned.
  9. I had assumed the problem was with the shifting mechanism which doesn't seem to lock the knob gears in there proper position.
  10. Not sure it should make a difference, but yes, they had the motors mounted in different positions. They also used different motors. Jim used a L and Sariel a XL
  11. It is interesting to note that in Jim's review he had the gearbox stalling. In Sariel's review that didn't seem to happen, however, he had grinding noises.
  12. Thanks for staying up and posting the review! It is much appreciated. The review is fantastic and clearly shows the positives and negatives. Silly mistake by TLG switching the gears, the locking gearbox will be interesting to see how it pans out. I am still buying the set as I want it sitting on my display shelf.
  13. What is the grey wheel to the left of the Porsche wheel? NVM....
  14. The Porsche wheel looks way wider than then the 56Dx34W wheel. There is no way those will be interchangeable. No one has confirmed trying to put the Porsche tire on the F1 wheel and vice versa which is what people are asking.
  15. I agree it does look smaller which I mentioned earlier in the thread. We need someone with the Porsche set to confirm.
  16. Pretty sure the 42050 tires have a smaller diameter than any of the three shown. I think the only wheel that has a chance to be interchangeable is the F1 / PP wheels.
  17. So hopefully reviews will be available June 1st 00:01 Tonga time.
  18. Looks much better with the black wheels. I may add this to my list of builds but it is below a few other supercars.
  19. Early on I was skeptical that you could make this look good; however, you did an amazing job!
  20. So we were both right. ;) Can you test if the Porsche Tire fits properly over the F1 wheel?
  21. It's always available for $200 + tax in Canada.
  22. That's good news for future MOC's using the Porsche tire and F1 / PP wheels.
