Eurobricks Mafia Day Two: Moonlight Medicine
Shadows replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
When someone is part of the town and wants to help it, they speak clearly and keep it short enough that everyone will read it. You're obviously under some outside influence, or want us to believe you are with this song and dance, but even excusing that, it should be possible to make more sense with less volume of crap inbetween, otherwise it's just the standard wall of text the scum use to confuse and distract. I seem to recall people pointing out that Big Cam could have been a little more helpful between his poopy attacks, well, I think you could do a little better here. The sheer volume of your songs makes it almost seem like you were prepared for whatever this is, like you did it to yourself to try to seem innocent. Here is why it's neither. We're required to pick a mayor, we don't have a choice. We did it yesterday, and by doing so, we said "this is someone we trust, or at least as much as possible at this point." That told the scum exactly who to kill or convert. So how do we stop that problem? We elect the person we plan to lynch. That leaves the scum with no vote of confidence to take advantage of. In the current situation, given the deaths of last night, especially darkdragon's and the suspicions she had, on top of my own, I don't see any other logical vote today but Hinck, thus I voted for him for mayor. I know we're going to have to suffer 10 more rambling and completely off topic "woe is me" songs before then as he does his usual routine of avoiding the real issues for lots of little made up ones mostly based on personal issues, but I sincerely think it will net us our first scum. So far, nothing has been said to change my mind on that. -

We could place both votes, to be honest. That might actually cut our losses for the night. Clearly the scum didn't kill on night one for fear of getting someone on the other half of their team, but once a mayor was in place, they saw a safe target and killed him. With you elected and lynched, they might not feel secure killing tonight, and we'd end up ahead, plus getting rid of a scum. Thank you for your suggestion, it might be the most helpful thing you do for the town in this whole game. * Night one = Night zero, the first night. Whatever. -

Convenient. Your whole day keeps coming back to someone who very clearly stated to me that you looked like scum or at the very least weren't behaving normally (she even speculated that it could be your SK game) and she's dead. Her death didn't make a lot of sense to me when I first read it, given that she was already suspected and would have probably had a hard time surviving today, but now it's becoming crystal clear. The funny thing is that in all of our discussion of this game, she never seemed obsessed with the SK at all, so your conclusion that she must have been the psychiatrist only makes me that much more suspicious that you could have jumped to a wrong conclusion there and thought you needed her dead to protect yourself. To be fair, I know what your normal SK game looks like, I remember it all too clearly from your botched attempt to kill me in MC2, but I think you learned what metagame killing me gets you from your horrible failure in Ragnarok and wouldn't repeat that mistake so soon. Still, once a witch, always a witch. Mayor: Hinckley Survive the night and we'll know the truth. -

I'm not surprised to see that all the suspicion surrounding Flare was wrong, he was just a dumb townie making our lives more difficult on day 1. The darkdragon situation is interesting because I never saw her as that suspicious but a few seemed to go after her with great diligence. The psycho killing her makes no sense to me, she would have probably been bandwagoned today. Corny was likely killed because we trusted him and the scum don't need us trusting anything right now, though that makes me wonder why he wasn't converted instead. I think that at least confirms that the scum teams aren't working together yet or they would have made a smarter decision there. It's going to be an interesting day. The only thing funny here is that I haven't been rude at all and I've pointed out things you said that didn't sound right to me, which is exactly what we're supposed to be doing when it's all we have to go on. That isn't personal, that's observation and others have said the same things. Your continued claim that it's anything else keeps you right at the top of my list of suspects. Your act today, while clearly forced by some outside influence, initially made me think "maybe he's town, why would the scum make themselves act so stupid?" and then I realised that would be a perfect cover, so there went that alibi for you, if that was the intent. -

You're right, your behaviour is still off and missing those usual elements. Thanks for the reminder! I'll go get your cult welcome message ready, just in case I don't see the new day. -

Hmmm. And still think. You know... like, I still think you're acting funny, same as I said during the day. If there was a night vote, you'd get mine. Clearer? -

Are you sure it wasn't "the world 'evolves' around Hinckley?" You look scummy to me. I gave my reasons why you looked more scummy than the alternatives, which admittedly wasn't saying much on day 1. If I was scum, I would have contacted you to join up. I didn't, I voted for you because I thought and still think that you're acting funny. It's what we do in mafia. It isn't that complicated. -

How long before Scouty tries to vote for Pelly? I guess he was smart to not to try to get me to change my vote from you to you or I would have changed it to him. Not that it would have mattered. Speaking of which, despite thinking I ran to PM after your post (which post, I have no idea), the only PM I had to deal with all night was from a member of Eurobricks who needed some help with a non-mafia issue. You know, Eurobricks, that site you "run" while us minions do all the work. The question now is whether or not people will risk playing games if those games can make them lose their votes. I'm completely undecided at this point. -

While I point out your specific behaviour in this game and apply your standards to do so. I guarantee that most of us have been looking on at your act with suspicion, even your reactions now are wrong for you and it's painfully obvious, but do carry on, it's kind of amusing. -

Shadows replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Your town game is to attack me pointlessly in hopes that you'll eventually be right and try to get everyone to turn over their roles behind the scenes while making sure to include at least one scum in your town block so things go down in flames. You might be doing all of that, it would be hard to tell, but whatever it is you're doing, it'll only hurt the town like always. It's what I counted on in the last game and what we can't afford to allow here. So whether you're playing your towniest of town scum game with a dick twist or your jesus game with a dick twist, we don't need it. -

Good timing on this, I was about to summarize a few similar points to the same end. I agree with everything said above, the Flare nomination was suspicious or stupid and then followed by what almost seems like a meatshielding when it's obvious he won't be elected mayor. Add in the dick attitude that almost seems designed to mock the host for not appreciating the dick in the last game. Add the times that I've said things that he would normally attack but hasn't, despite being a dick to others, and it's incredibly suspicious, like selective dickery with a hidden purpose. Oh, and one of the biggest for me: he keeps encouraging us to metagame, which is not the point of this game, it's exactly the opposite. Sure, the day title could be interpreted that way, but in reality it's obviously a commentary on the usual state of EB games, which is the whole point of this game, to comment on what usually happens here and how people usually behave. Since metagaming rarely helps the town, anyone encouraging it must be doing so with the intent of helping the scum. And now I'm doing it to the person doing it and he'll probably accuse me based on doing exactly what he keeps telling us to do and what I say we shouldn't. Paradox. *Tries not to think about it* Vote: Hinckley Just the person I was wanting to talk to. Step into my parlour ... -

That obviously has to be at least 3 pieces and based on size, I'd say 4, for what it's worth. As for suggesting that people not share their parts, I didn't bother for a very simple reason: whenever I try to give good advice, some megablocks turns it against me in a ridiculous way and time is wasted. It isn't like anyone would listen anyway. I do agree that exploring the people who haven't claimed or who have claimed not to receive a part might be useful, even if it just helps us understand the game mechanics we're dealing with here. -

Shadows replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Here's my piece. To be honest, I saw posting our pieces as more helpful to the scum than the town, since one would assume that multiple scum on a team would have multiple pieces, thus giving them a faster shot at solving it, especially if we helped by posting ours. Obviously it doesn't matter now. I also agree that Flare seems suspicious, but I can't really base that on past history. That's exactly why I voted for Corny, at least I think I will be able to tell if anything changes there. -

That was a lot of crap to wade through, and now you're playing games. In a game. Whatever. Sounds like as good a scum tell as any. No, wait, talking to you in private would be the perfect chance to use you, if you were in your Jesus game, so maybe he knows that you're scum. One of you is scum, I can smell it by the hair on my metagaming chinny chin chin. I really do have a fabulous beard, all manly and thrust-worthy. Mayor: Cornelius Murdock -

Heartlake Heartbreak - Conclusion: Still Alive
Shadows replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I know! I know! That brings up an interesting point about the beginning of this game. When I investigated my first intended conversion and found their house empty, I PM'd them, acting as if I was an investigator and suspicious of them. They told me what happened, what they did that night and who they saw, and then I told them the truth, that I would convert them the next night. They could have sold me out right there, but it was a worthwhile gamble. Despite my claims to the contrary, I wasn't an all-mighty force to be reckoned with, a lot of things would have worked against me, the only thing that couldn't be stopped was a conversion, and that had two possibilities for failure, converting a scum or being under the random influence of the poppies. It was actually very balanced if you understand all of the possibilities. An investigation of me would have yielded neutral, I assume, but not my specific role. That would have been challenging, but not impossible to deal with. Using the information from the hider, I contacted the person they hid behind. I knew they weren't scum since hiding behind them didn't cause a death, so it wasn't hard to get them to cooperate with investigating Zepher, who the hider had seen that first night and was suspicious of. The hardest part at that point was handing Zepher to the town in a way that would give Hinck credit and put him in the perfect position to be converted yet never suspected. If this wasn't revealed already, the items in the chest in my room were the pins and brochures given out at the end as you were all 'invited' to join our happy group. -

On a related note, this post almost killed me on day 1, highlighted for emphasis. For just a moment, I considered asking if that was the name of a cult. -

Exactly the point, if there's a weapon out there that can guarantee a town loss and you're not town, harness it! Indeed. It should be mentioned that as Hinck said above, my welcome for him was after my departure. I posted it before I was officially out of the game and from that point it was all the surviving members making the decisions, this was not one of those games where departed players continue to work with their team. Eventually (fairly quickly), I decided to just trust them completely and stopped reading the Cult pm at all, watching things as the developed here like any other player, it was a lot more fun that way. Plus it was the only way to maintain a bit of sanity as I imagine they had a few freak-out moments along the way. -

Shadows replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ah, but you left out one tiny point, human nature. Having a lot of information as a town is balanced by not knowing who to trust or being able to coordinate it properly. It's one of the reasons setting Hinck up to be converted was the early plan for me, I could see him working to coordinate and figure things out and knew the best way to manipulate everyone would be to let him get in that position and leave the town relying on someone they absolutely never should. Seriously, even when he's town I'd say that. Heck, I said it during the game on that hilarious day when you all sat there watching the show and being brainwashed. It's why I pointed out all the times we've both been town and he's gotten me killed, figuring that once I came up with a shady result and looked janitored, it would make the town trust him even more. For the cult, it was the opportunity of a lifetime. -

I was trying to be so scummy and so townie and so neutral all at once in our PM, hoping to convince you that I couldn't possibly be what I claimed so you'd come to the right conclusion on your own. I've never almost had a plan ruined by a townie helping me before. This was definitely a game of firsts. -

I don't honestly think I've ever reverse meatshielded myself with someone who wasn't even on my team before having them converted, so this was a delightful twist. Good job cult, I never doubted that each and every one of you could take what had been set up and carry it to a successful conclusion. Ok, fine, I completely doubted it, but it was the most logical plan I could come up with to satisfy the crazy situation I had to deal with and you did it! I'm sure I'll ramble more later, but for now, congrats culties and thanks to the host for showing us a very interesting first outing and venturing into somewhat uncharted and absolutely insane territory. Good job! Oh, and to the rest of you, Welcome to the Cult that couldn't possibly exist.
