Thanks! Do you mean these parts? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61072 This is the only other photo I can find: Series 11 vehicle by Dodge..., on Flickr There were 7 other entries I think ... I will maybe bug the other members of the group to post theirs here ...

Thanks! I wanted to make the roller skate "1:1" ish ... so that dictated the size. Plus, I thought those white arches would be perfect for the contours of the top and back at that scale. The chassis is solid. It is basically straight up and down on both sides. I think I would have struggled to get it to curve for the arch, but that would have been better for sure! I just started building and went from there - no digital design.

Thanks! I don't have any of those neck brackets in red - I will see if I can come up with something though!

Hi all, At our last Lego show we had a contest where we had to build a vehicle for one of the Series 11 collectible minifigs. Here is my entry - a roller skate car for the diner waitress. This was a fun build and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my comfort zone! photo by Chorduroy, on Flickr photo by Chorduroy, on Flickr

Hey all, I really love the BC Rail colours, so that was the inspiration to build a Dash 8. There's always compromises when building locos and this build was certainly no different. I had the angled in section behind the cab originally, but it looked really bad, so I took it out. I'm sure there is a way to do it that looks authentic, but I couldn't figure it out. My plan is to build another one to run at our next train show and would like to improve on this if I can. Please feel free to give me any feedback you have that I can incorporate into its twin! I will be adding the decals once I get them made up as well. Inspiration: BC Rails by lewismarien, on Flickr photo by Chorduroy, on Flickr photo by Chorduroy, on Flickr photo by Chorduroy, on Flickr

In terms of tracking a collection, I feel that Basebrick.com is unrivalled. It's the only site I've encountered that allows you to add both loose bricks and sets and organize your collection in both ways. So when I come home from a draft with our LUG, I can actually input all the parts I just got in exact quantities/colours. You can also import Bricklink orders directly! The handy "Can I Build It" feature allows you to choose any set and find out if you have the parts to build it - and not only that, but it will tell you how many of the set's parts you're missing. You can import Brickset or Peeron inventories as well, so it's really easy to get started. I really love that site.

Thanks all!! Sadly, there is no interior. I was under a major time crunch to get this done for our show and wanted to make sure the exterior was the priority. With the trans-black windows, you can't really see in, so missing the interior wasn't a glaring omission. And after it completely fell apart the first time around, I had to use the interior to provide cross-bracing and support on the second build! Two compromises I had to make were to not represent the semi-circle window segments at the top of the arches and the pillars aren't tapered. Other than that, I am happy with it. I really like how the size of the 1 x 2 trans-black bricks seems to match perfectly to the scale of the window panes of the real building. Another funny thing is that the windows on the east side of the real building don't actually match the ones on the west. But I just looked at the real building from the west and assumed it was the same on the other side ... haha!

Thanks all! It's not motorized, sadly. That was my goal initially, but I ran out of time before our show to do it. It was much higher at first to accommodate the motor and gears, but this actually worked much better, because It looks more realistic at this height. I think it could be motorized if I made the turntable shed bigger like that CUUSOO turntable. I didn't even have time to connect it to our train layout at the show. It was off by itself and looked a little lost.

Thanks! Yes - it goes all the way around. Thanks!

Here is a MOC I made for a recent show. It's based on the courthouse located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. DSCN9217 by Chorduroy, on Flickr DSCN9220 by Chorduroy, on Flickr

Hey all, Here are a couple pics of the roundhouse and turntable I made for a recent show. Unfortunately, none of the pics turned out very well, but I'm hoping other members who took photos will have better ones. You can kind of get the idea from these though. Anyone know if there is a new issue on the horizon? Seems like it's been forever ...

Hey all, I've substantially completed my first loco. Still a couple little annoying things that I can't figure out how to fix, but overall, I'm pretty happy. The brick-built angles on the side were very time-consuming for me, but I'm reasonably happy with them. DSCN9004 by Chorduroy, on Flickr DSCN9009 by Chorduroy, on Flickr A few more on Flickr.

Hi Train Techies! This is my first attempt at designing and building my own locomotive. I chose a Ferromex SD40-2 because I thought I could pull off the paint scheme in brick. Obviously, this method has some flaws. The real problem is the cab/nose though ... Anyway, thought I'd see if anyone had thoughts/feelings - it will continue to be a WIP for a while until I fix the awful cab. I use Basebrick.com. It is the best way to track your parts and sets, bar none. It allows you to track loose parts and parts from sets separately, and make notes to help you track where parts are used. The inventories are more complete than Peeron. It also has a very handy "Can I build it?" function that lets you choose an official set and see if you have the parts to make it. It also tracks minifigs separately. You can import lists from Brickset or Peeron very easily as well.

Ever found a piece that doesn't belong in a set?
Chorduroy replied to Sir Walter Maugham's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One of the copies of the Creator Ferris Wheel (4957) I got was missing one of its bags of parts and in its place was an extra bag of parts from the set. I received replacement parts from Lego and they didn't want the extras back, so it worked out great for me! Lego customer service is amazing. -
O'Hare airport security opened my purchases as I made my way back to Canada. I didn't care since all the pieces were there. But if it was a MISB collectible item, I'd be livid.

Hey all. I am trying to achieve horizontal striping by laying bricks on their side, stacking them, and clipping them to bars or whatever. The problem is that the "phone" piece is the only element that gives me the perfect height for the first row (laid on a tile), then I can use a brick and 1 x 1 tile with clip to get the second row to align perfectly. See pics below. My problem is that I have only 4 of the phone pieces and they don't allow me a ton of room to slide the layers side to side to align them perfectly .... are there any other elements that give me the same height exactly as the phone piece? Ideally, something like the second row where I have ample room left to right to align the layers. Hopefully the photos convey what I'm trying to accomplish .... horizontal5 by Chorduroy, on Flickr horizontal4 by Chorduroy, on Flickr horizontal2 by Chorduroy, on Flickr -
Very relevant to my interests, as I'm currently working on a turntable. I'd like to build it entirely out of Lego, however, as opposed to sinking it into plywood.

The actual station has tracks on the side opposite the clock tower. The building is no longer a train station, but a liquor store, flower shop, and tanning salon, while the multi-story part is municipal offices. I also took a couple liberties with the design and didn't include the warehouse portion to the side where I put the air conditioning units. Here is the building as it was way back when: mjstation by Chorduroy, on Flickr

Indexed by Moderator Hey all, I built this train station for a show a while back. I based it on an old train station in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada since that's where our show was taking place. Unfortunately, the display didn't allow for me to place it near any actual tracks, so it's just all by itself. But I still like the look of it, and thought I'd post it.
