DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Agent Kallus replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wouldn't say 'Jurassic'would be a more interesting minfigure series as the main focus of that franchise is the dinosaurs not the people, so unless sticking a Stegosaurus in a blind bag, i don't you can say that jurassic park / world is more deserving of a cmf, -
My personal favourites are the knight, the Mummy and the 'biologist' though all the animals are great. Though it's got some cool pieces overall I find this series a bit dull as 8/16(so half)of them are just modern day people and another 3 are costume people which are sort of modern day which only leaves 5 that aren't.

No you're not the only, it's probably just a rendering error but it's pretty funny that they could get it that wrong.

Easier said than done isn't it though. A lot of people might just think that the characters are related rather than being the same person though, but I don't really know how they could fix that without a narrative medium to clarify it (Ala ninjago). But Lando wasn't made in yellow in a set where everyone else was, whether he was created by Lego or not doesn't matter that they though yellow skin would make sense for him shows that their would yellow philosophy was flawed, hence the introduction of fleshies because in pre-fleshie licensed themes white people were yellow they change it so they are all accurate skin tone and yellow went back to representing no race in particular.- 46 replies

[MOC] Stranger Things Season 1 - The Monster
Agent Kallus replied to KevFett2011's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the build is lovely but your Jonathan doesn't really look like Jonathan. -
I'm not throwing a tantrum just saying that it isn't a very nice thing for Lego to do, they are businesses niceness isn't a priority I know that but am I allowed to disappointed by they're continued practice of well this, yes? no? Listen I'm typing slightly miffed words into a computer about a company that will never hear them, it's not really helping anyone but it's not really hurting anyone either. It not going to go away cause I don't like if that was the case there'd be a lot less mayonnaise and a lot more world peace. She did appear prior to her death in non tragic scenes. To honest she isn't my favourite character anyway but did like as she reminded me of one of my sisters. Minor characters can appeal people more than major ones as they don't need to tick the boxes that major characters do. For example Peridot, Lapis and Connie in Steven Universe are all less major characters than Steven but this mean they can more unique, flawed and interesting characters. Well that's the entire problem isn't it, that it does exist, better to have it not have been made than be made but artificially put out of reach for the majority of people. I'm sure there are and you aren't wrong and some of theses figures more because prized because their exclusivity but some people would be just as happy with a figure they could buy from shop@home because it's who the represent that matters to them not where they got it. But people with benign intentions got the figure they might later think is this figure really worth that much to me when I could sell it for X amount. Hell I'd consider selling one if I got one because the Byers house set has a lot more value in it in my eyes despite the aftermarket value of each. Attending one of these events isn't cheap and they've only do these sort's of figure for two city both in the same country, travel hotel and event ticket all for the luxury to buy something ( I thought it was raffle anyway which makes it worse) these exclusives are a product for the wealthy (or people who live nearby) and not for good reason. Every character or custom is someone's favourite so why for one character are they simply in a retail; set but another is restricted to a small time window in one place unless you want to pay stupid money for it on the aftermarket. What if your favourite character was exclusive to an event of the other side of the planet when they could easily have made it available everywhere, I know I wouldn't be thrilled. The internet and written word in general can fail at delivering sentiment so it might seem like I'm having a temper tantrum but to be honest this isn't a hill I'm ready to die on, whilst I do think it is morally reprehensible I'm not exactly angry about, that would be a waste of effort cause they do this every year and I do get what you are saying. before I finish i want briefly make an exemplified counter argument against this point. I am an avid Doctor Who Fan and I bought all the Doctor who products lego brought out. They only made 2 of 14 incarnations of the Doctor and I'm okay with that, I was a small theme after all. For some of the Doctor's other incarnation I figbarfed my own versions but if lego chose to make very limited release minifigure of say the 13th doctor I would be disheartened, even if I did manage to get I still be conflicted on the one had ya I've got one, on the other, they could've just released this properly and pleased more people. Whereas if they didn't release such a figure then I wouldn't be missing it. This obviously a much bigger deal with exclusive characters rather than exclusive costumes which is why I'm bothering to write this because the character is exclusive (atm) not the version, if a different version is made widely available I will no longer care, (though I still won't be pleased about it). Take Captain Marvel(DC) and Captain Marvel (Marvel), The was exclusive to a comic-con release until this year whereas the latter had both a comic and a movie version available before the CC exclusive Kree Suit was revealed, to me one those is a bigger issue than the other. That said if the Captain marvel cc set was a regular retail set it would definitely be on my wish list. TLDR: I'm not angry about it just disappointed (but not surprised), you do have a fair point but not everyone can go to SDCC so why not just make the figure available for everyone who goes and anyone else who wants it.
-
I'm sorry, what? Yes the fans who get them obviously love shelling out to scalpers because isn't that just super fun... on a more serious note I understand that some people will see these things as having more value to them merely because they're exclusive but that value is entirely artificial, it didn't cost Lego more to make it than any other minifigure of similar detail. Rarity is created here by purposefully making the supply way lower than the demand. Revealing a new set early also raises exposure, the figs only really affect people at the con positively and even then they could still miss out Or what about an early release exclusive or one that can be built out of already available parts? Yeah, it's not the biggest problem in the world and yeah it's mostly silly or obscure variant costumes but it's still not very consumer friendly. Yeah but 'people' overlooking them at comic-con is hardly an issue it's not like the world's biggest toy company is gonna totally get ignored just cause everyone had a fair chance to get a lego Barbra Holland.
-
I don't think it'll get a cmf for other reasons but themes with CMF's have had exclusives, like the Lego Movie. Are your 'particular reasons' that you want more standard cmfs by any chance? To answer my own question, it looks like they haven't, at least looking at the NYCC and SDCC tags on brickset.
-
Have they ever made exclusives for a one-off theme before? (castle byers doesn't count) this could be sigh that there is more in the pipeline. You jinxed it On an overly optimistic note, with the Hobbit exclusives the figs later came in sets so only the packaging was exclusive. If not at least Barbs not the most important character (or one of my personal favourites).

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Does anyone think they might make the new ant-man helmet in to a quantum realm helmet? -
Seconded But also I'd like some more things in copper metallic, perhaps a simple 1x2 brick.

Though it's a recoloured bald piece Lucas's hair from the same set is new to being a hairpiece, (does that mean that the same piece in the dragon dance set was supposed to be hair as well?)

Depending on how the third season goes, maybe a build of the starcourt mall or it's ice cream parlour would work? Though if lego wanted to make the lab I'm sure they know which corners to cut and It'll end up looking nice if perhaps a little shrunk compared to the size in the show.
-
Me too. Though I didn't find a good torso for him, though new the Harry Potter casual one might work nicely. Ironically I think the torso with the closest colour+ style match for Nancy (at least in that outfit) would be Lucas's from the set. @Puresh She wears white gloves in the show?... (Image in spoiler due to size)
-
The omission of Steve, Nancy and Jonathan is understandable but is more painfull when one of the prominent scenes at the Byers house from season 1 is when the 3 of them fight the Demogorgon, whereas the main four kids though more important to the show as a whole, don't have many scenes in the Byers house. @makoy If you have the time and the parts could you please try the hobbit hair on Dustin or one the boys in ghostbusters gear or both.

I'll wait till double VIP points or a good GWP or a discount(Unlikely though) cause I'm not rich and I'd like to get my moneys worth. Though in the mean time I tried many hand at some purist ST figs, not entirely happy with them but they're okay. They're in this thread if anyone has any suggestion for improvements or if anyone has any of their own ideas for purist figs, I'd love to see/read them.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Agent Kallus replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Often they're higher when first added and then lowered, don't know why but I have noticed. -
Stranger Things Wips by Bismuth83, on Flickr Some Stranger Things WIPs of mine, just made with what I had to hand so they're not perfect. Jonathan could do with darker hair and a different Torso, Nancy could've done with lighter hair and dark red would be a more accurate torso colour, Steve could do with cool yellow gloves but I only had hands in bright yellow his face is also kinda generic but it works, Max's torso should be the same colour as her arms and could do with some detail, Brenner I'm happy with.

I think Lucas was more in need of a new hairpiece than Will, if I can convince myself to buy the set then I'll give him the Finn hair, I'm also considering the Mr. Incredible hair for Hopper and I've tried my hand at making purist verisons of Steve. Nancy and Jonathan. (If they make the Finn hair in a light brown then I'll give it to El too. Well lego can survive being digested, I swallowed a brick as a kid and it came out the other end intact, not exaclty something I'd recommend though (No I didn't keep the brick )

I think this graveyard set would fit well inside the hidden side one.
-
If they were to make another set a good choice would be a brenner's van with the kids on bicycles or the junkyard battle from season 2. Barb is a very minor character, I'd rather see a Steve, Bob, Nancy, Jonathan first but eh, both is good.

Well, I haven't commented on every series you've made but they've all been great. Maybe you're getting less comments cause people are in awe of your work and don't know how to put their appreciation into words, either way I like'em keep up the good work .
