[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi everyone, @Monkfiche made me aware of a LBG 1x6 Technic Brick missing from the parts list. Unfortunately it'll probably take me a while to change the list since I don't have access to the files right now but I thought I'd let you all know to watch out for that part! Cheers, Kit -

Glad to see that the instructions for that part seemed to have worked out okay, they really gave me a lot of headaches at the time, breaking down the complex shape into manageable sections that still fit together in a logical order. It stays together fine without glue for me but you do have to be careful with it. Especially if you want to put lights in it I'd maybe wait with glueing things or even consider modifying the structure a bit if you're building in light channels anyway? -
[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
How many Tantive's are you planning on building? Looks like you have enough engine parts for at least two or three there. :D Those are some really ambitious projects you're building here but I think those two Star Destroyers will be more than worth the effort. :) I did, turns out that is not quite correct though. The Tantive IV appears to actually be 150m long, the CR-70 from Episode III is 126m long. I mixed up the measurements. What matters is that the proportions are correct though. :) I guess an X-Wing would be more like 10 studs long this way but I guess 12 should be close enough. :) I see that you added some detail and tiles to the underside. I didn't really mind the underside-studs since the ship is very hard to see from beneath anyway but the additions certainly don't hurt the look. ;) The guns are a bit too large in my opinion but other than that they look really cool! -

@bricksmarlin Wow, that's an impressive fleet of B-Wings! What other models are you collecting parts for? There's definitely not that much LBG in my Tantive IV! :D @Monkfiche Not at all! Please post your renderings here, I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing them. :) Just don't post the LDD-files please.. ;) -

Fair enough, if you decide to modify the set please post some pictures of it. I'm really interested in what can be done with the set! How is everyone else coming along? Anyone started building yet? :) -

@ProvenceTristram I don't have much to add to what Kristof said. The front part of the model has a technic core that goes from the back of the neck right back to the connection point with the engine section. That part can be easily held and swooshed around in one hand. The engine block is slightly more fragile due to it's more significant mass but once both parts are connected on a shelf they can be handled reasonably roughly without falling apart. Unfortunately you can't pick up the whole ship in one piece due to the imbalance of mass the engine block creates.. or at least I never dared to try it in fear of breaking the technic beams at the connection point. :D -
[MOC] simplified full crouching AT-RT Another try May.27.2019
Kit Bricksto replied to JoeChu1980's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@JoeChu1980 Glad you like my version! I really enjoyed following the progress of your version. There were some great ideas in it right at the beginning and you managed to improve on them with every update! I really like the feet on your version, they look closer to the Clone Wars version of the walker than the smaller ones on my model but judging by the figures you are using with the walkers that's exactly what you are going for! Keep up the great work!- 39 replies

[MOC] another Millennium Falcon - 2023 update
Kit Bricksto replied to stifos's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, I tried finding a brick-built solution for a cockpit of this size but failed.. That doesn't mean that it is impossible though by any means! There are far more skilled builders out there than me, so give it a shot! You've already managed to stuff so much detail into this relatively small model, I wouldn't be surprised if you manage to create a smaller more accurate cockpit too! An AT-AT and a Sandcrawler at a similar scale to your Falcon would be awesome! I'd love to see what you could do with the interior of those things considering what you were able to squeeze into this one! I agree about the scale of the X-Wing. The Lego sets always seemed too big to me too. Especially if you compare them to other ships like the playscale Falcon. Happy to hear that! I must admit that I am very seriously considering completly rethinking the structure of the model and starting over with most of it right from the beginning again. It just feels too cobbled together and is not really structurally sound.. I can pick it up with two hands but I don't really like how much it bends and creaks when I do.. :D- 70 replies

[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Sorry for ignoring your question! I checked the distance the other day and I think it was something around 56-57cm. The whole model definitely fits on top of one and a half Billy shelves from Ikea though if that helps :D -
[MOC] another Millennium Falcon - 2023 update
Kit Bricksto replied to stifos's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hey Stifos, I really like your take on the Millenium Falcon! The combination of the playset's scale and the building techniques more commonly seen in large scale or even UCS models of the ship is really refreshing. I honestly can't remember ever seeing something like it before. I feel like the cockpit's scale-issues stick out here even more than in the playsets but that really only is a compliment for the rest of the model! Everything else here looks so great that the cockpit sticks out but I feel like that's a compromise this model can very well live with! Also, I'm glad I could inspire you here! :) In fact this model and the upgraded Marshal Banana Falcon have motivated me to revisit my dormant WIP, so thanks in return! :D Keep up the great work! Got any plans to improve other Star Wars ship at playset-scale? :)- 70 replies

[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wouldn't actually recommend using all new parts, not just because they're more expensive but because the Tantive IV isn't perfectly shiny in-universe. In fact I used a lot of used bricks in my model, even some with quite a bit of yellowing and I really quite like the look of it. In fact, I think it would look weird having it perfectly shiny and new. Thanks for the feedback, atlas! I agree that the angle might be a bit flat on my model but if I remember correctly I tried making the sections two studs wide and it didn't look right at all. It didn't look smooth enough and was actually to high of an angle. The Jerac-technique might work but I am very bad at building in that style and I prefer the cockpit being smooth and sturdy to the minor setback of the angle being slightly off. I'd be very interested in seeing others modifying the cockpit, though! So please share photos here if anyone makes modifications to the design! :) -
[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wanted to thank everyone who has decided to start building this model for themselves! The excitement all of you have shown so far really makes me look forward to seeing the first WIP-pictures, build feedback and especially modifications to the design! I've heard people considering microscale interiors and all sorts of cool modifications to the ship itself! So please keep me posted on your progress and I'm always happy to help whenever I can along the way, too! :) Have fun building everyone! And if you want to join in, just PM me for the instructions! -
[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I must say that it surprised me too but there are lots and lots of basic bricks and relatively cheap small plates and parts like cheese slopes in this model and very few expensive parts. I think the radar dish and the large white wheels for the engines are the most expensive parts and even those have been reasonably priced so far.. If anyone makes completly different experiences when buying the parts for this model please tell me though! When I built this myself 70-80% of the parts came from my collection, therefore the price-estimation is relying completly on BrickLink's AutoBuy function. -
[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
INSTRUCTIONS - AVAILABLE NOW! Finally, after almost a years time, I have finished the instructions for this massive model and am happy to announce that I will be sharing them with you guys! As the process of creating the instructions was very time-consuming I will be asking for 15€ as a small compensation for the efforts involved. If you're interested in building your own Corellian Corvette please contact me via PM or FlickrMail. The Instructions will include the complete building guide as a PDF-file, the BrickLink-compatible XML-parts list and the LXF-file of the whole model. Total parts count is 5708 pieces. Bricklink costs can vary depending on whether you go for all new pieces and what country you're in. -
Brick-built Corellian corvette bridge suggestions?
Kit Bricksto replied to AntocMerrick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@AntocMerrick If you don't have a lot of pieces at hand, maybe designing a cockpit in LDD would be a good idea. You could then order the parts you need specifically from Lego or Bricklink. If I were you I'd try something using different sizes of curved slopes combined with jumper plates in a similar way that I did on my larger model. I'd say the diameter of the white ring on my docking rings would be a good place to start for a playset Tantive IV as the smallest diameter. Maybe you could post some of your WIP-pictures here and maybe we can help you better then. :) @MoppeW40k Indeed! I only need to add two more pages to the instructions themselves and figure out a way to create a BL-compatible parts list and then we should be good to go! But that's not really the topic of this thread.. ;) -
Brick-built Corellian corvette bridge suggestions?
Kit Bricksto replied to AntocMerrick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi there, I built a custom UCS model of the Corvette last year and used some curved slopes and jumper plates to create the cones of the cockpit. It is quite a bit larger than the official set, so you won't be able to copy the cockpit exactly but maybe this will help you figure something out: Also if you're interested instructions are almost finished and will be up for sale shortly. :) Oh and do you have any pictures of your modified build? I'd be very interested in seeing them! :) -
[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi everyone! I am very sorry that progress has been so slow on the instructions but to assure you that I am still intending to finish them, here's a little update on what I'm up to right now: I have finished the instructions for the main body of the ship right back to the fins that connect it to the engine block. I am now splitting the digital model of the engine block into sections for the instructions since Blueprint can't handle the file for the whole thing.. I hope to get the engine block finished in the next couple of weeks so that the only things left to do then are checking the instructions for inconsistencies and mistakes and figuring out the (digital) logistics of selling them. I really appreciate how many people are so intent on building my model for themselves and really don't want to disappoint you guys. That being said the process of making these instructions is quite tedious and this is the first project (except the AT-RT :D) that I have made proper instructions for. I hope you'll stick with me and I'll do my best to speed up work a bit! As for some stats about the build: Parts count: 5701 (to be checked once the instructions are finished) Estimated parts-cost according to BrickLink: ~450€ (as of March 2019) Thanks again for your patience and stay tuned for further updates on my progress! Thank you! I must say that I had hoped to be able to steal a lot of ideas from your fantastic model but the difference in scale really made that impossible.. :D That's what I had feared... I had seen some sources where it was 126m long and others that said 150.. As 126 happened to fit the scale I was building at very well I decided to go for that. Well, I guess it's not perfectly 1/3 minifig scale then but who really cares anyway.. :P Thanks for the information though, the inconsistency of sources really bugged me when I was building this! -
[MOC] Minifig Scale AT-RT + Instructions
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks! There actually seem to be two versions of the AT-RT. The CW version seems to be a bit wider in the front than the EPIII ones seem to be. I went for the slim film-version here. I agree that the cannon is not optimal though. I tried a lot of things to make it more elegant - including the flickfire part - but I didn't like any of them. I might try and find something better here in the future though.. I don't really like the look of the lightsaber hilt as a gun here. It would improve the lenght alright but it just looks too cartoony in my opinion. I actually had the grill tiles on the sides originally (check the digital picture on Flickr) but I didn't like the way it looked on the real model so I changed them for the tiles. The AT-RT does have some kind of boxy things on the sides, so I guess the tiles fit quite well. As for the wedge tiles, they would make it smoother but the angle is too steep and not having the studs would make the front seem a bit too slim in my opinion. Thanks for all the suggestions though! I'll definitely look into lenghtening the gun again. ;) -
Hi everyone! It's been a very long time since I posted anything online and I have decided that this ends now! In the next couple of weeks I will upload a few creations of mine that I built in the last year or so and never published.. until now! The first in this series of MOCs is the tiny minifig-scale AT-RT walker. I designed this one to have all the articualtion it needed to fully crouch down for storage in a LAAT/i or an AT-TE while maintaining the right proportions and shaping when standing up, too. There really isn't much to say about this tiny build, so here come the pictures! :D I hope you like them and if you do, leave a comment. And even if you don't like them.. constructive critcism is always welcome! ;) Instructions can be found in the Spoiler below:

Thank you! Unfortunately that problem seems to be occuring quite regularly, I'll change the info in the original post. Just PM me your email address and I'll send you the file.

I really like the shaping and attention to detail on these. I must say that I definitely prefer this CW colour scheme to the tan ones from EP I. Are these designed so that they could be built with real bricks in the correct colours? I really like how those renderings turned out and I could imagine a small diorama with all three of these and the Defoliator in action would look really cool. ;)

[MOC] First Order Xi-Class Light Shuttle
Kit Bricksto replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi there, I really like where this is going. Not many MOCs of this ship out there so far. I think I prefer the smoothness and size of the first cockpit version. Do you think you could fit the opening mechanism to that bigger cockpit piece? It'd be a shame to loose that mechanism. I assume this won't fit more than the two pilot figures? Some more interior would be great but the structure for the wings always takes up a lot of space with this kind of shuttle and yours does look very well designed. Keep up the great work and keep us posted! :) -
LDD files are indeed intended for the Lego Digital Designer that Sandtrooper linked to. This is official Lego-Software. As far as I know Stud.io does support lxf-files though too, so if you're more comfortable with that software it should work out too. :)

Hi Jordan, I saw your comment on the Tantive IV, sorry for not replying earlier. Happy to hear that you're interested in the instructions. I am still working on them, I just ran into some technical issues with the LDD that I have to fix first.
