  1. Well, from what I've read, only keywords like Island & Building. I'd imagine there'd be some Tan plates used inside the ship to serve as a beach later, maybe the white sail plates formed into some skull-island.
  2. Going to be interesting to compare those parts vs the upcoming 3-in-1 Pirate Ship set. I'll assume it'll have all sorts of different colors , partly because this is 2020 and LEGO loves to use different colors inside of models for ease of building, partly due to standardized technic parts and partly because it has alternate builds that aren't ships.
  3. Hope this will lead to some form of LEGACY line of sets , not just Ninjago but all sorts of old themes under 1 name. So we can actually "Unbox" those heroes in physical form (again).
  4. It's mostly meant for investors, companies have done Quarterly Reports via Conference Calls for a longer time, and now moving more toward Video Presentations.
  5. If they ship them from Europe also, I'm all for that. Those sets last year shipped from US and would mean paying at least 21%* extra for just VAT on top of the full price. *(Import Duties, Shipping Cost, Handling Fees etc not included, and +21% would be added on top of those as well) My prefered way would be more "Classic" sets, under the Creator 3-in-1 / Creator Expert theme if they don't fit elsewhere.
  6. Article about it here, leads to the same link (which I guess is just a placeholder picture for actual stream) LEGO Annual Results Press Conference Live Stream - 4 March 2020 10 AM CET https://www.lego.com/nl-nl/aboutus/news/2020/march/annual-results-live-stream/
  7. That, and the upcoming 3-in-1 Pirates ship/island/building set
  8. For me, the decline of set design started in 1997 with those town junior designs, but I was much younger so I still had sets from that time, but I agree the real (financial) dark age was after 2000 when some themes were entirely missing or only found in Legends sets. That's really visible how Town went via Jack Stone/Lego Island/Studios and World City to the current City. Also was by far the longest gap between Pirates (1997-2009) + (2001/2002 LEGENDS).
  9. I wonder if the 2020 Hidden Side "Castle of Mystery" has some of those black/blue colored "Trees" in the set , considering the other 2020 sets that have those. I know it's not City but that's the closest to a confirmed Castle set for this year at least.
  10. Same thing happened in The Netherlands (in real life) Passenger Trains mainly have this logo Cargo is now handled by DB Cargo since 2000 LEGO used the DB logo on their older 80s trains , later included stickers with more countries.
  11. Well, I know nothing about sales numbers on those sets but seeing how the 2014 trains were sold for almost a full 4 years, I'd say they do sell, but adding more doesn't make much sense now. 2011 and 2015 added an extra City Cargo train into the cycle , but there also wasn't a €330 Disney Train on the market then, so I don't think adding second Cargo Train to City in 2019 would have made sense. 2019 Hidden Side train basicly is a Cargo Train as well , just not motorized from the box and a bit simpler design overall, but also cheaper.
  12. That's the thing, the City products might not change, but trains come more often via other themes now, especially 2018/2019 had relatively more trains outside of City then previously. From 2015-2018 there were 3 City trains on shelves + 2016 Winter village = 4 trains. Winter village train just retired last December 2019 Then 2018 City released 2 new trains still sold now. Hidden Side and Disney released trains late 2019. So that makes 4 current trains + 2018 Hogwarts Express
  13. Train sets are the most expensive City sets, especially those Cargo Trains at ~€180-€190 , producing more would (likely) just warm shelves. While there were more frequent train sets in Town in the 90s (still gaps of 3 years between 1991-1994), there weren't themes like Harry Potter, Disney, Hidden Side, Winter Village that also had trains. Also more seperate train material was sold, for 2018 there wasn't even a City Station, not sure if the 2017 Winter Village station was part of the reason for that. LEGO did make more City trains in odd years like 2011 and 2015 but those were limited to LEGO themselves. I don't think another City train in 2019 would have made sense, considering they just put out a Harry Potter train late 2018, and then 2019 Hidden Side / Disney Trains.
  14. 1997 started the junior type of Town and that continued all the way through the early 2000s via themes like Jack Stone (2001) , Racers , Island Extreme Also weird experimentation themes that barely look like LEGO with Galidor (2002) Scala from 1998-2001 looks much much worse (to me) then Belville of the same era, and now glad they went with Minidolls over both Scala & Belville scale Even Castle of 1997-2000 looked more simplified then the years before. Not that I disliked Fright Knights or Ninja or even Knight's Kingdom 1, I just compare the design in restrospective. Overall, just based on the designs of that period (1997-200x), a lot more larger bricks and less plates were used in designs across many themes (but not all of them) , more Burps and Pillars and such as well. After around 2004 designed started to evolve back into more detailed and smaller parts and plates.
  15. Just built the 2020 City Race Cars set , certainly love how the overall size is almost the same as the 2019 Ferrari F40 Speed Champions (which I bought for City use). As for the premade chassis piece, I think it's great, those plate-thick chassis aren't bad, LEGO has been using them since the 80s with Town, I don't think they are too simplified at all compared to the ones you see in 4+ sets. Of course still would like to see the occasional 4-wide cars but this 6-wide format isn't bad for City.
  16. Indeed, this looks like Classic LEGO, there are almost no Technic parts in that. Also no "weird" colors for parts that are otherwise not seen, I've seen all sorts of green plates and such inside recent City vehicles, which are otherwise not visible except when building. Overall, they could do a whole lot back then, with fewer colors and parts shapes.
  17. They (likely) sell more sets this way, instead of having sets on backorder/sold out that might turn people away from buying it. If they anticipate popularity for sets like that , pre orders are understandable, and they can also adjust production.
  18. Some characters like half-stone clay and non digital merlok came with books.
  19. Yes, saw that at their website, and they even sell a different theme of Knights alongside that. Just overall looks like a great mix of sets across both their themes : buildings sold seperately from the siege "vehicles" , civilian sets, Castle wall expansion sets etc. LEGO used to sell seperate parts of walls during the 80s but that's long long ago, but the philosopy of sections of Castles that can connect is still there with the Harry Potter line. Just wish they'd translate connectable sections/walls like that to a Kingdoms/Castle theme again. Tecnically, they even had that connectivity within Nexo Knights where the Library wall could connect to the Fortrex, they just never added more sections.
  20. Looks way better when it's a proper Castle. The original set just had very little space to stand figures.
  21. The only time I could see a "Castle Slot" being a thing was 2011, when the wave lasted less then 8 months, when Lord of the Rings appeared on the market in 2012. (Based on Brickset's set availabity on LEGO.com) But even then, there was still 1 new Castle set for 2012 also. 2013 Castle also co-existed with Hobbit sets in 2013/2014. Harry Potter had no sets from 2012-2017 Harry Potter came back in Summer 2018 Elves and Nexo Knights both had early 2018 small waves, but retired after, but I still don't think that Harry Potter had anything to do with that.
  22. Built the 2020 Hair Salon set today. Was my first ever Friends set but I do like those small shops, and the (extra) hairpieces are nice for that set for sure. I'm a big fan of Creator 3-in-1 so I can look past the open back style. Waffle House set hopefully is just as interesting as it's the same price range as the Hair Salon.
  23. Well, there is one big chance for LEGO Dragons fairly soon (June?) The upcoming Skull Sorcerer Dragon set is listed at €79.99 Germany price, so that should be a larger set then the Firstbourne, which was €69.99 in Germany , and it had 882 pieces, 6 minifigures. Since the Dragon is seperate from the Dungeon, I do hope the dragon is the main focus and by far the largest build of the set.
  24. Rebrickable allows sharing MOCS and instructions , so if no intent of selling, that's a better place, especially for it's main intended use : Alternate Builds. But they also allow selling of instructions as well.
  25. Well, then I agree that recent times have been better for those : 2019 was a Space year for sure, outside of Star Wars, both City and LEGO MOVIE 2 provided sets there. Party Bus, Emmet House&Rocket / Rexplorer / Rexcelsior / Systar Starship / Benny's Squad / Benny's Repairshop / Wyld-Mayhem Star Fighter all had Spaceships.
