Idk, the Slave 1 and TIE Fighter were pretty good and they just came out last year. I wouldn't call the end of days for the UCS line just yet. This is definitely an odd choice for a UCS set however. If they released this thing without the UCS badge there would be much less of an uproar. I think TLG knows they messed up with this one and hopefully the rumored Snowspeeder and Death Star sets will put the line back on track.

Looking good! For the dish, I have seen an awesome brick built one floating around the forums. Check out other brinklinked falcon threads but I think that one looks better than a sticker.

Same here - I collect UCS to display. Unless it can be put together like the Endor Village (which looks great on display) I will probably pass. Not a great display piece otherwise.

Looking forward to the review. I'm on the fence about it - waiting for some real world photos and videos to make the decision.

This has to be one of the most detailed models I've ever seen. Excellent work, this is an amazing ship!

Not only cheaper, but will get double VIP points and an exclusive May 4th minifig. Still on the fence about the set. Guess I'll wait for reviews once actual fans get it in hand.

Looking back I don't think I used the tile. The windscreen is secured by the interior targeting computer similar to the other mods. I'll see if I can take a pic of that when I get home.

I actually just completed UCS Darth Vader's TIE using the mods in this thread. Looks sooo much better with the modern windshield and canopy. Here are the substitutions I made based off my notes: Front Canopy - 10x10 canopy replaced with 8x8 Dish Inverted (Radar) and LBG 6063 (Modified, 10x10 Octagonal Open Center) - Add 4 x LBG Wedge 2x2 Slope 45 Corner (13548) - Add 4 x LBG Slope 45 2x4 (3037) - Add 4 x LBG Tile 1x4 (2431) Entry Hatch - Dish 6x6 Inverted replaced with 18675pb01 Dish 6x6 Inverted Wedge, Plate 8x12 Boat Bow LBG replaced with Black. The black really shows through on the final model so I added some LBG tiles to cover the black. Bar, 6.6L w/ stop ring replaced with Bar, 6L w/ stop ring. Moved the holder pieces a littler closer together to make up for the smaller distance ;) For the hoses, I did the same thing and bought 6 x of the 20L LBG hoses and cut them down to size as needed. Much easier to find and cheaper alternative The back piece of the cockpit is REALLY hard to find, so I found one in Light Gray. Its not really exposed much so you generally don't notice the difference in color. I placed 7 orders on BL and it came out to $220 shipped, which is alot cheaper than the going prices for it used. Oh I also ordered a replacement sticker off eBay for $8 (waiting for it to arrive). Some pics of the finished product ;) http://imgur.com/a/1XOt8

If you preorder the Lego Force Awakens video game you get this minifigure. I ordered mine on Amazon.

I mainly substituted some of the internal parts that wouldn't be seen from the outside. I chose different colors based on price or what the store had in stock. I remember the hardest parts to get were all of the angle plates since you need around 30-60 of each side (left/right). There are no hard to find parts in the set, but some of the quantities needed makes it annoying to source (hence the 15 orders).

I would guess Fall since "UCS" Assault on Hoth is coming in May.

I wouldn't bother brick linking 10212 - you are better off waiting for a decent used set on eBay or BL (I know I am). I just brick linked the 10221 a couple months ago and it came out to about $500 after shipping (15 orders or so). Still almost half the price of used sets so I think that one is worth doing.

UCS Snowspeeder will probably be $200 with 1500-2000 pieces judging by recent UCS ships.

TLG loves Hoth. So I'm not surprised ;)

Definitely sounds like the snowspeeder. I think Death Star will be a 2017 set. It will be post Rogue One (which is all about the DS) and during the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. The timing is perfect.

Shuttle looks great! Now all it needs is a black racing stripe down the middle of the cockpit ;)
