LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
analogkid81 replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It would be cool if it has removable plates to reveal the playset. Can be a playset and display model at the same time. -
Picked up Ewok Village last night - took advantage of double VIP points :)
-
I feel like it's nice to have a stand out white UCS ship among the sea of grey Star Wars models. If I ever secure the shuttle, I definitely want the the stock white color ;)
-
They are definitely white from the imperial factory, but like a white car, they get dirty over time and turn gray ;)

[MOC-WIP] Hoth probably around 75098?

Lego recently mentioned end of support for it. I think it will still be available, but they will not be uploading new pieces anymore. They are moving on to something else (forgot the name). -
Could we ever see a remake of these UCS sets
analogkid81 replied to Distorted Vision's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lego sales in 2015 were up 15% or something like that thanks primarily to Star Wars. Clearly the higher prices are not turning people away ;) -
I have looked into it but decided against it for a couple reasons: 1. Used prices on eBay are near the same level as if you brinklinked it from scratch. I would rather just buy it used then go through the trouble of sourcing all of the parts. 2. The white pieces are a concern for me. Buying used or even new white pieces from different lots throughout years of production runs puts you in the risk of different shades of white. Used pieces tend to yellow over time and new pieces can slightly vary in shade. There are also some white pieces that are hard to source because of the quantity needed. So instead of brink linking, I just check eBay daily for any good deals that come up. One day I hope to snag one ;)

Lego doesn't shy away from expensive sets, but history tells that the more expense UCS really don't sell as well as we think. A lot of them were actually clearanced or put on sale towards the end to clear them out (even the Falcon). However, 2016 is not 2007. There has never been a more fevered interest in Star Wars and I think large expensive display pieces will sell well in today's market. The Death Star playset clocked in at $400 and was produced for 7 years - so there are plenty of people with enough disposable income out there to drop $$$ on good quality sets. The Ewok Village is going on 3 years, so there seems to be a market for these large playsets. It will be very interesting to see how well Hoth sells... -

I would bet money on either a Y-Wing, Star Destroyer or Blockade Runner next year. Leaning towards the Star Destroyer since its been 15 years since the original. -
I wouldn't expect any statements from Lego about the "controversy." It is coming no matter what - I'm sure it's already in production as we speak. What they will look at are the sales numbers, they are a business after all. If it sells really poorly, that will probably effect future UCS decisions. If it sells really well, expect the trend of UCS play sets to continue. Hey, maybe we will finally get a proper Bespin play set if this trend continues ;)

Looking good! Next year I hope to do mine :) -
I think it's March 7-22

Last was UCS R2-D2 -- next will be Ewok Village during the March double VIP event.

I will definitely buy a UCS Kylo Ren Shuttle and Finalizer :) Imagine the size of the wings alone. -
Just picked up UCS R2-D2 and UCS Obi Starfighter. Makes 9 UCS sets bought since October. I think I'm done for awhile ;) Now to start building them...

All those red bricks -- now that's a challenging build. -
At first I was upset about this set, and I still am. But I have moved on and look at the positive which is I will be saving $250 by not buying it :). I really think the set will sell well with parents however, especially around the holidays. A Parent and kid walks into Lego store and sees this on the shelf. Bet you more than one will be walking out with it. I mean look how well the Death Star sold -- it was in production for 8 years and that was priced at $400! There is the rumored UCS Snowspeeder and Death Star coming this year so I will get my fix there. I collect UCS only, but prefer the ships as I can display them as collector pieces. Play sets are for kids imo - no matter what badge they throw on there.

I am sure we will still get the UCS ships we are used too when the Snowspeeder and Death Star come out. This is just another large scale playset that will replace Ewok Village on the shelves. I think this got the badge because TLG recently stated they would start using the badge consistently on large scale/expensive sets. In the past it was hit or miss if a UCS was labeled as such. If the Death Star play set and Ewok Village came out after this badge standardization, they would probably have the badge on the box as well. Since I have no Hoth sets and only the AT-AT Walker (recently came out of dark ages), I may end up picking this up when it goes on sale ;) Will look awesome with my AT-AT. -

Shadow Troopers are in Star Wars Battlefront so they are considered canon. -

Or any actual set photos for that matter. All I've seen are box photos so far. -

The set wasn't on display at toy fair, so we will have to wait for real life pictures and not PR ones from Lego. -

Just watched the video and I think kids are going to love this. Lots of cool play features and you can really recreate the battle on Hoth. Also great attention to detail by the designers. As an adult who displays Lego and doesn't sit there and play with them, it's not that great. Definitely going to pass on this for me but my kids would love it (if it wasn't expensive) ;)
