I really like how it came out. Yes, it's rough around the edges but I think that just adds to its character. My first thought when I saw the updated post was "This looks so bad-a$$!" It's a pity you had to do away with the suspension but with that kind of weight I guess there was no failproof way around it without using a dozen springs per axle. I love how you used the quarter-gears and buckets to shape the superstructure - that's some really creative work there. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Looks nice but the picture's really small. Can you upload a larger one? You can use bricksafe.com and link larger images from there. -
What tyres would you guys recommend for a heavy model (around 4.5 kg) with four planetary hubs, so with the tyres squeezed between two second-generation z56 turntables? Unimog and Claas tyres seem to pop out as soon as I press down on the model. Sample axle by @efferman with the planetary hubs I have in mind:

A lavish feast of scrambled eggs. On a more jocular note infused with romance philology, no hope for an S motor then?- 5,466 replies

Let's leave 2018-Italy-style politicking out of this, shall we? Shineyu, welcome back! I hope you managed to solve all the issues you mentioned a few months ago. It looks like you've broken through that plateau to rarefied air only a few breathe - Sheo and Sariel come to mind. The first Scania truck and the Fassi cranes are dope sick.

I don't see what the big deal is about fitting the switches. I'm one of the worst builders out there and still managed to cram six (there was room for a seventh, not needed) on my tow truck, and another three on the crane: Each switch is mounted on a 2L axle pin and works fine.

Yes, it is. A 2-way, seven-function gearbox, motor included, can be packed comfortably into a 7x7x15 structure, which in turn can fit snugly into the official superstructure. I think the reason TLG didn't do this is that if you activate too many functions at once, the motor isn't going to be able to deliver enough torque.

Looks good. I wonder if you wouldn't be better off with a brick-built actuator, though - the boom is probably going to be very heavy and I don't think those two large actuators are going to be strong enough to lift it to a decent angle, unless you gear them down to a snail's pace.

Why no snow groomers?
suffocation replied to Gingerdave's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not sure the "rare machine" argument holds much water - if a snow groomer's an unusual sight, what about a bucket wheel excavator? Then again, a BWE's got a wow factor to it that a snow groomer hasn't, at least for the average buyer.
