  1. Bricksafe is your best bet for uploading pictures. Meanwhile, a more generic thread that often comes in handy is this axle collection thread. Not sure there's anything that meets your specific requirements but it's worth a browse or ten:
  2. Dude. Lighten up. Maybe he built the forklift for kicks and then decided "Hey, what the hell - might as well put it on Ideas! All to gain and nothing to lose." Less cynicism and more kielbasa. By the way, hell of a model you've got there, @Bjarne. Hats off for a job well done.
  3. Wonderful, wonderful build Still trying to figure out where you crammed all the motors.
  4. Awesome work! Although Rudolf the cat is my favourite part
  5. China is working on a so-called internet of energy using UHV-DC lines. Their long-term goal (by 2050) is for 90% of the world's energy to come from renewables. http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-12/31/c_136863411.htm https://www.neweurope.eu/article/global-energy-interconnection/
  6. Four motors for the arm & bucket, one for superstructure rotation and one for each track, I guess. RC sells and if they're launching a new system then going all-out is probably the smart thing to do, like they did with 8275 back in 2007.
  7. It's about modding opportunities. With 42082 there's the challenge of fitting all the necessary motors into a relatively dense model; with a fully RC model there's the challenge of designing an effective and efficient gearbox and blending the switches in with the bodywork.
  8. I like part RC, part motorised sets - something a lot of folks balk at - so a likely mod for me would be to keep the undercarriage as it is (or double the motors if it's underpowered) and replace the multiple motors in the superstructure with just one motor and a distribution gearbox.
  9. Spot on - it can sit flush next to a z24 gear and will barely touch it; flush next to a friction gear there's no contact at all.
  10. That'd be kinda boring. What about a single knob going through a gearbox with four switches? The gearbox can be designed so that up to all four functions can be driven at the same time.
  11. I nibble on 'nduja bruschette and sip Sagrantino during clicks, so my building pace is snailish.
  12. The gear reduction before the diffs was indeed all wormgear-to-z24. The fact is, by the time you go from the motor through the distribution gearbox (1 motor driving 6 functions, not 3 driving 6 à la 8043) through the turntable you're already screwed. Plus, even a 1-motor version of the Liebherr is likely to be considerably heavier than 8043.
  13. That's exactly the case. I tried it a few years ago with a six-function crawler crane - including a subtractor - all driven by one motor. The superstructure worked decently but the amount of backlash that built up by the time the drive reached the tracks made it virtually unplayable.
  14. Drat, I missed all the latest updates! You're doing a brilliant job, Grum, and as always seeing the build broken down into so many real-life steps is inspiring. Cheers mate, I always love your pics and write-ups.
  15. Trolling again, are we? Drive comes from two hard-coupled L motors. Oh, I'm still waiting to see you do any better than the users you're constantly criticising. @Technic BOOM Great build there, mate. Not sure how it compares to the original nor do I care - it looks good and works well.
  16. Who cares what it can be labelled as? I thought Lego was about building, playing & MOCing value, instead I see more and more folks flaunting it as a status symbol or leveraging it as an investment.
  17. Impressive work I can barely guess a single colour from the only available picture and you're reverse-engineering the whole set
  18. Well, common sense would suggest waiting for their answer before getting your panties in a knot.
  19. Anyway I hope there's an option for joystick-like controllers - I just find them more comfortable. Must be old age. I got my first set of false teeth when the Dead Sea was still ailing.
  20. I didn't know you had your other eight fingers bitten off by a rabid 'roo.
  21. Great. There's still a problem, though, which at least some smartphones have - what if I want to command more than two independent motors at the same time? My dumbphone can only handle two touches at a time (which also gives me problems with the BuWizz app, by the way). So do I have to invest in a smartphone that handles more than two touches, do I have to use multiple phones at the same time, or is there a cheaper, more convenient work-around?
  22. Exactly, all they need to do is transition from "batteries not included" to "smartphone not included". Standard fare, innit?
  23. The number of instances that could be tossed into the "false advertising" category is huge, so don't count on that.
  24. You get the sarcasm when you get the sarcasm.
