  1. On the idea of Modernized City sets that are based on older ones here is an example Originals and Modernized version

    City 2010

Very true, its about the most expensive train ever made by LEGO to get a working model Emerald Night: $100 Power Functions & Track: $140 (there on sale right now for $130) Total :$240 I think he means 7897 Passenger Train released in 2006 for $90 Not bad if it weren't for all the batteries needed (11 or 12) Most likely the 2010 Trains will be PF I do hope we see an elevated Train or Monorail
  3. Hello everyone here is the parts/sets I want to buy Coca Cola Vending Machine Coca Cola Crate Updated 11-13-09
  4. Not what I meant, By Quality I was not referring to the plastic they use. Quality I meant that some really well designed figs over multiple of just one.
  5. I like the way you think Cypress Tree pack too! However I think there was a molding issue as why they don't make them anymore, however something similar but not the same would be cool. Maybe a Tree/Plant set like this

One very important fact is that he said City Trains. This means we are very likely to see a Passenger type train and probably a cargo PF train I also hope we see some more track side structures with the trains. Wait on I suppose....
  7. Those are some truly awesome sets there! I would love very much for LEGO to have modern day redesigns of them!! Toss in the Cypress tree 6 pack too Great ideas everyone!
  8. One of these
  9. Definitely diversity for me. Especially in City sets. I love new hair pieces, torsos and faces. "Quality over quantity"
  10. Like the Castle Market set, but Pirates! So many awesome details to mention Thanks LEGO!! It also reminds me of the Emerald Night, same exclusive box packaging.
  11. You are right I also would need one of these Depends on what cave... True however I don't just go into any old caves like a true adventurer would I prefer caves that are maintained by the State like National parks My favorite cave is not an actual cave but a Lava Tube, called the Thurston Lava Tube Its huge, the ceiling is at least 10ft above your head and very wide. Most of it has lights but at the end there is a gate and the tube goes on for much longer and you need a good light, the minifig head lamp is perfect. Think they will come out with a night vision? Refer to above comment. Nope not cool enough for me. Now maybe if it was Red, Black or Trans clear.....
  12. I talked to CloneKiller about this by PM But posting the request here I thought would allow other people to use it too Decal Request: Iron Man Head/helmet decal Iron Man Legs &Arms decal Let me know if you need a reference picture? Please and Thanks
  13. All of these Trackside structures are so awesome!! You guys are brilliant builders! However in the end I could only pick one I voted for the Roundhouse and Turntable by Peterab Very cool, I have always wanted to build one of those. Great job to all the entries!

Nice thanks for those new pictures!! I am not a fan of all the new Fire Sets, the fire station looks nice but I have one and I am happy with it The rest I do not need I have plenty of fire vehicles. Not a fan or the airport or plane either. I do like the figs they come with and the little baggage car. The small white and black car looks strange and not very appealing to me. I do like the Octan Tanker, Seaplance and probably the telephone line repair truck However none are really awesome or must buys for me, although I will get the latter, they are not as good as it has been recently. Is that a blue city corner??
  15. Great just what I always wanted for when I go spelunking, I can have Lego minifig attached to my head They come up with some neat stuff nowadays! I am waiting for a LEGO toothbrush
  16. Ah Hah, ImperialShadows!! I knew the thread you found was not the first! The thread you found was also more about bricks that come out strange. Also this topic must be old if I talk about the ice cube tray topic in it This thread was more about rare and special bricks and of all things I had many posts in it, but yet I couldn't find it when I was searching for it again Not only that you also have commented in this topic The misprints topic did not answer my question about the origins of rare stuff. I went a searching and this topic answered them. Why the bump? Because this topic is more special parts oriented. Also I wanted to show everyone a picture of a Red Spruce Tree (not mine) But Brick-shelf isn't working for me right now

Good eyes everyone. The new stewardess torso is really nice! I also see the aloha shirt figure, from the agents set Very cool civilian figs
  18. I agree with you Klaus- Dieter! I guess once LEGO City always LEGO City (meaning they will always do Fire and Police) City Marina: $100 Includes dock with shops restaurants and ship garage. Also features speed boats and other boats. Good helping of figures. Basically a modern day Sail N Fly Marina Other sub theme features could include yachts like the Cabin Cruiser and such And the fire boat actually will have something to save
  19. INDEXED Name: Sports Car Theme: City Year Released: 2009 Pieces : 64 Minifigs: 1 Price: $9.99 USD Resources: BrickLink BrickShelf BrickSet Peeron Presenting the Sports Car!! Its a very nice little set and its good to see something civilian related as LEGO is infamous for all those fire and police stations we have had over the years. This set is also a nice compliment to the Tow Truck 7638 and the Garage 7642 as they actually have something to tow besides each other ( ) Section 1: Box/instructions After opening the box out comes a crumpled instruction booklet. I don't save the set boxes so here we have the instructions, looks nice already. Random Instruction Page. On the smaller models they don't have piece call outs or numbered bags. I like how the background is a blue skies blend. In this picture they show the placement of the rear bumper. Another odd thing is that the seat and steering wheel are blue. I have not seen that color of blue often used as interior color in cars. I guess its more popular in exotics. I wonder who chooses those colors. Perhaps they had extra parts in those colors? Section 2 : Accessories and Minifig Here is the one fig that comes in the set, long gone is the classic grin only era and they have expanded to more detailed faces. He has a smirk, and combs his hair in the morning. Nice diversity of hair pieces. He is obviously rich and is heading to his businessman job in his suit, and chosen his flashy red sports car. (more on that later) Emergency Help phone A general view of it, very nice indeed, noticed its colored orange and so it belongs to the tow truck company. I guess when you are the only one in the city, you get your own phones installed on state highways. The side view, utilizes not a walkie talkie but instead this other phone which is a nice part. Also I like how there is a little glass piece to protect the dialing button when it rains. However they did not bother to protect the phone Spruce tree Here is the other accessory, a standard round spruce tree. It is very cool and it's good to see LEGO adding plants into sets again.Although I find it rather pointless. It drives up the set price and has no base plate. I tossed it in with my other trees. Section 3: The main model Front view Very nice front bumper, it makes nice use of the new large cheese tiles (which I think make excellent cheese graters) as the ventilation system in the front. Standard trans light blue windshield there. Side view This is a very nice view of the overall car. It looks nice and I like the red color scheme. Only improvement could be doors Back view A very nice rear bumper design again, makes it look very sleek. I think the engine is housed in the back (like real life sports cars) thus the reason for the vent. Also I wonder if this is a coupe or a roadster design, what do you think? Section 4: all together and wrap up Here is the complete set, not bad for $10, looks nice and has some good parts. The box art shows that he overheated his engine and has to call for help. However not today! He now obeys the speed limit and no longer has that problem Review Wrap-up Playability: 7/10 ( LEGO inspires the basic story via box art, no action features) Design: 8/10 (solid build, could use doors on the car ) Price: 8/10 (reasonable price) Parts: 9/10 (interesting parts, like cheese grater tiles and the round spruce tree) Minifigure: 10/10 (great fig! New hairpiece used in City theme!) Overall: 8.5/10 ( I would recommend this set to everyone who likes City or would like to try it) LEGO has done alot of vehicles in the past. They are rather good at them too. This one is a very nice addition. The police now have someone to pull over for speeding. The tow truck company now has a car to tow. Whether he broke down or got towed for a ticket. The actual model is nice and sleek and the only real improvement could be doors. The round spruce tree well nice I find pointless. The emergency help phone is cool as I do not think we have seen something like it before. Playability is good, but not great. There is no action feature, unless you count the wheels rolling. LEGO provides pictures for the basic story. Some really good parts come in this set such as the cheese grater tiles, spruce tree and bley phone. The minifigure, well only one is great, a new hair piece and diverse head and torso.
  20. Name: 6239 Cannon Battle Theme: Pirates Year: 2009 Pieces: 36 Minifigs: 2 Price: $5.99 USD Resources BrickLink BrickShelf BrickSet Peeron Arggghh, who be a land lubber? I be presenting the Cannon Battle, mates! Section 1: Instructions Here is the instruction booklet. Now this is a surprise the instruction is crumpled (as usual). Obviously do not put LEGO parts in your mouth as they can be a choking hazard. Either that you will swallow it and well recovering that part isn't much fun Random Instruction Page. However this one isn't chosen at random. No ways! A shooting Cannon in a US set!! This page is really cool as it shows how to operate that cannon. Simply load the cannon ball, then pull back and watch it fly. Oh and with LEGO, safety first of course! Never shoot yourself in the eye, because there is no crying allowed in LEGO! Section 2: Figs and Accessories Here is the first fig. A Imperial Guard? Imperial Soldier? Bah same thing Now a wonderful part is the shako with print on it This fig is really awesome! I love the torso design and epaulets. Now there is some discrepancy from the instructions to what the fig actually looks like. Can you spot it? Not only front torso print, we have back torso print too! The little purse he was on is carrying ammo and maybe some gold pieces and a important letter or two. Ok, just about anything you want to be in it Comparison shot, 1989-2009. 20 years later. I love both torsos! Confession time, that shako the new soldier has on is the only one I have owned. Hey none were in the Caribbean Clipper The 1989 guard has a classic grin and the 2009 guard has a more detailed face, he hasn't shaven. Thats right! In the wild jungles of the Caribbean, you have to rough it. Either that or the Admiral isn't real strict Here is the pirate fig. I love the dark green bandanna He has a more advanced classic stripe pattern than the original pirates. I think LEGO has done a good job on all of the pirate figs this year. The back of the Pirate! He has the shoulder belt design and the illusion that his shirt is baggy or he has to lay off all the turkey drumsticks 1989-2009 Comparison Shot. Here is the old and new shot. I like both of them very much. The only change is the detail in the newer pirate and color difference. The accessories are great! We have 2 swords, 1 was an extra part too! The blunderbuss rifle, the treasure map which they are fighting for and the torch. The torch is really cool because it has the new flame piece and the spy glass part Section 3: The Model Random break apart rock wall. This is odd why is there a gold part on top? I figured a way to explain it later on in the review The tree parts are cool and give it the foliage appearance. However I doubt this would be on the beach like the box art depicts. Also it is very weak on its on, since no studs connect the break apart section. The main purpose is for playability as the cannon shoots it and it breaks apart. Yeah! The actual shooting cannon in a US set!! The cannon cart is very well designed. The king has placed a tax on the ammo thus the soldier only has two shots to break apart the wall. If he misses......well lets just say that won't happen Soldiers again are tough here because they have to push this heavy cannon around! Good thing it has wheels. Not 4WD wheels, don't go 4 wheeling! Our final 1989-2009 comparison shot. How did I get the shooting cannon if I lived in the US? Pirate secret hehe! Not much has changed here. The colors are different from the classic grey to this new metallic darker grey. Oh and the dust build up of course Section 4: Everything together/playtime/wrap up The complete set in action! A shooting cannon is no match for a blunderbuss rifle! However the rock formation the pirate chose to hide behind wasn't such a good idea........ :pir-laugh: It seems our poor Pirate has violated a sacred islander shrine! That explains why there is a carved piece of gold on top. Duh!? King Kahuka who is known for his interesting range of headgear also has a new addition to his collection Review Wrap Up Playability: 8/10 (Shooting Cannon! Not much more to say!) Design: 7/10 (The cannon is awesome, but the rock wall needs some work) Price: 10/10 (excellent price for everything you get!) Parts: 9/10 (new parts and just about everything you need for a pirate set, except maybe a parrot) Minifigure: 10/10 (1 awesome pirate and 1 awesome soldier, good things come in pairs hehe) Overall: 9/10 (Must buy for anyone! Especially the pirate fan! Whether you want the parts or the set) Pirates is back in 2009. The Line has been very good and has had loads of new parts we can use with our old pirate sets. In addition we got some new figs to use. This set is very cheap for the items you get. The shooting cannon is really great and now anybody can have one with out needing to buy the fort or the ship. However the only downside is that rock wall. Which is really bad, it is ugly and doesn't hold together which could have been improved with 1 stud being connected. The saving fact is that you can shoot a cannon ball at it and it will break into smaller parts. Buy this if you haven't already!
  21. INDEXED Name: Camper Theme: City Year: 2009 Pieces: 155 Minifigs: 2 Price: $16.99 USD Resources: BrickLink BrickShelf Brickset Peeron Presenting the Camper! LEGO has done Camper's before so it wasn't like they were venturing into the unknown. However the most recent one before the 2009 one is the 1992 Surf & Sail Camper. However I do not own that one. So sadly no comparison photos. Section 1: Instructions Here we have the instruction booklet. Showing some of the sets cool features like the bike and surfboard. Not so random instruction page. I have chosen this page because it shows that the set is modular like it says on the box. There were two bags, one for the base of the camper and one for the top half. The build was quite easy because of this. You can also see that the hinge brick connecting the back so that you can open it up. (more on that feature later on) Section 2: Figures and Accessories This set has some of the best city figs I have seen in a while. T he first figure is the male (obviously) and he has a cool little hair cut. His shirt is very classic and one of my favorite torsos ever. The second fig I like very much. LEGO in this set has the 1:1 ratio of male and female figs She has a really cool torso that I haven't seen before. I also love the new hairpiece. Our first accessories are the new fish part (which I simply love) as I don't think there has ever been a proper one besides the ornamental ninja fish. The grill part is simple and captures the grill feel easily. Our next part is really awesome. The classic red bike Wish we see more of these in different colors Our male fig not to be left out has brought along his surfboard. Not a windsurfing board just a surfboard with a hole in it Section 3: The model Here is the finished Camper from a side angle. It is very nice. The lime green color scheme is a nice touch. Front view of the camper, 6 bricks wide. The palm tree sticker is cool however I would have liked a printed part but oh well. The license plate is the set number but I don't know what the "HL" is, do you? Rear view of the camper. Again we have some nice details. The ladder allows you to access the roof so you can store the the surfboard and bike or anything you want like a kayak. The lighting fixture on the top means you can hang out and roast on the BBQ in the night. Also it holds the opening part together so it doesn't swing around. The camper opened up. A huge feature of the set is that the back opens up. This is really sweet. The camper can sit 3 people!! Two red cups and a pan for cooking and eating. Here is another view. A pizza doesn't fit on the table but you can hold your cup on it so be grateful for that The instructions show where the minifigs sleep. One can sleep on the top area which has a nice open space and is really clever. The male has to sleep on the hard table and chairs though, yeah roughing it!! Finally there is the TV screen (sticker) which you can not see in any of my pictures. It is attached on one of the opening sides. They are watching the NEWS, and I thought people went on vacation to relax Section 4: All together and wrap up The camper with everything on it. Come on lets head of for a weekend in the great outdoors and open country. Our female fig has brought along here riding bicycle for a peaceful ride through the forest. Hope she has tires with good tread as there are no marked trails or riding paths . Our male here is a first time surfer who has never surfed before but likes wearing that shirt because it makes him look cool. However he didn't expect to encounter any freshwater sharks on the lake. After experiencing some relaxing country actives, our surfer dude has managed to catch a huge fish for dinner!! Here our surfer and his wife are cooking the fish on the BBQ. In the country there is no campgrounds with preexisting BBQs so they have brought their own portable one. However even in the remote country you can not escape from the fire crew "Sorry no use of heating devices that can cause forest fires in this area" Review Wrap up Playability: 9/10 (the great accessories along with the camper being able to open up are nice) Design: 9/10 (very good overall, the only thing that bothered me was placement of TV) Price: 8/10 (solid reasonable price) Parts:9/10 (bike, surfboard and a fish!) Minifigures: 10/10 (these figs are perfect, 1:1 ratio and both have great details) Overall:9/10 (excellent set) LEGO has done another camper, the last one was just about 17 years ago. Imagine if we waited that long for a new fire station I would say they were long overdue for something along these lines. We definitely need to see civilian sets, I think LEGO can expand this sub theme and make more camping sets like cabins and boats. This set is a really great buy and I would recommend it to just about everybody. Great change from fire and police trucks and vehicles, hope to see more sets like this in the future.
  22. Assorted rare parts from BrickLink Most notably a red johnny thunder hat
  23. Awesome idea, perfect merger of several ideas!! To expand upon your idea Downtown $49.99-$59.99: Includes Post office, Bank, Ice cream shop and taxi w/taxi stand The ice cream shop has many possible ideas like a ice cream bar and such Minifigs are Banker, Taxi driver, 2 postal workers, ice cream salesperson and 2 civilians Also note that the figs should have a nice ratio of men and women Possible vehicles are the post truck, taxi and bikes Monorail $100-$200 Includes Monorail, track that goes up and down in several places, 1 elevated station and 1 ground station One station has food shop, or regular shop the ground level one has a roadplate . Basically a modern day Airportshuttle Rail Transit: $100-$200 The blue train from the TRU exclusive and track with the station connecting to a road plate that has other buildings on the other side Great ideas everyone, too bad LEGO doesn't have us all working in the brainstorm/conceptualization department

Thanks for a full description Wout Sounds nice, truck/flatbed/cherry picker and street lamp. It is different I would say, not a highly desired set but still great. Much like the Tow Truck sets were different, not highly desired but still nice to get. I am enjoying this city diversity very much, a splash of farm, civilian, private companies and the official City

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. It also sounds like it has potential to be a cool set. He mentioned the green garbage can? Is that similar to the green recycle bin from the Garage?
