  1. Hmm, I remember seeing something like that in the Keychain isle at a Lego Store and I must admit it was pretty cool I thought it was a good idea, and the perfect reason is because Paradisa hasn't done it Belville was just one of those later theme rip offs like Space is a SW rip off Now a Fabuland Guild..... Thats going a bit too far
  2. This is cool! Nothing like this existed when I was first a member! ImperialShadows just posted, I though it was in this thread but it gave me an error So I have seen a secret thread
  3. Hmmm looks like you weren't the first If I recall member "jonfett" had the title "The wise belville fairy" Now it isn't exactly the same but still similar and no two other member titles have been similar Therefore we have a conundrum Does this mean you aren't a wise fairy? or just one of those plain ordinary fairies (is that the plural btw)? Because there is a big difference, perhaps someone here is a fairy expert? Also I think there should be a fairy guild so normal people can tell the difference
  4. After building my Emerald Night and wondering about what Lego designed their trains after, so I begin to research I discovered that our very own Emerald Night is designed after the LNER Peppercorn Class A1 60163 Tornado I was also quite surprised that this train that was still being built in 2008 My original notion was that it was from the early 1900s and had no real life version Even more surprising was that Lego even did a good job replicating the passenger car Which leads me to think there is some nice inspiration there for people to MOC Full article here Now I didn't know that But I am curious to find out what members did Also if anyone knows other real life trains that Lego may have based their trains off, please share I find it quite interesting
  5. My titles have been Jelly stabbing jedi- (awarded for winning the killing a mars mission alien contest) Unscientific Haole- (during the time of a contest I had won for killing those alien minifigs, however someone changed it to "Unscientific Haole"during that time period, xwingyoda then changed it back to "Jelly stabbing jedi", I probably got the unscientific part because some people unfairly accused me of having non scientific polls! (wonder where they got that from) Now Haole, is a term from where I live, meaning foreigner, I used to joke around with Hinckley Winged jelly stabbing jedi- Because there was a ballerina tag stauder had that I thought was a fairy because it looked like it had wings , blame the whole fairy guild and secret fairy threads for it :tonuge:
  6. I prefer green base plates because they have a nice natural eco-friendly town look/feel Grey are very nice too for creating an urban feeling I don't think Lego has made any sets with them recently and it would be nice to see a return of baseplates As we mostly see smaller ones which are popular because of the "modular" style where you can re-arrange things in different ways and are not limited to them standing on a single plate in a single place
  7. I agree that although the Emerald Night was seemly cheap at $99 (well worth it ) The problem is power, all the PF and track will cost an additional $160 more (for me at least) So then you have a really awesome train and a cool track that runs, but nothing around The answer is track side structures and add on's, there are countless possibilities Price to make a running train also needs to go down, alot cheaper, however this will mean cheaper train Which I am ok with since we have the EN The problem with $120+ dollars to make the EN run is there are loads of other great sets you can buy Which IMO would detour a-lot of regular people from buying the EN or motorizing it
  8. I see, that's a really nice idea, since the EN has PF and is compatible with all tracks Nice layout you have there! Much better than mine Mine is basically the EN on non connected track with nothing around (work-in-progress layout) I see you have the 7997- Train station in your layout Does the Emerald Night passenger car line up even with it? And how do you think they look together? I am considering buying one Thanks
  9. Thanks, I have decided to use PF since the train was designed for it and it looks pretty good, and I am quite happy that the battery box is rechargeable Are you running yours on flex track, plastic track (RC) or metal track (9V)?
  10. This is a really good topic I think Lego is headed in the right direction since changing from 9V to a more battery operated style of trains Never owned an RC train but I plan on buying the power functions to power my Emerald Night and use the RC tracks No flexible track, they look ok, but I plan on using plastic tracks, cheap and look like 9V I think some EN add on cars would be cool, like a caboose, and other passenger cars Track side structures we definitely need more of (train repair houses, water towers, stations, level crossings), and maybe a modern light rail trains The cool thing about the EN is that I think it would fit into a modern city as historic locomotive train, like the train at Knott's Berry Farm I am not sure what I like better, classic loco's or more modern metro type trains
  11. Some great ideas have been mentioned I would think a camping sub theme like Farm would be a great idea Since we already got the Camper RV Lakeside Cabin: Includes water and land base plate, cabins, docks and speed/fishing boats with fishing poles and or kayaks Also includes large spruce trees Gone Fishin: Boat on trailer with truck/jeep vehicle Campsite: Includes tents and camp area, BBQ rack, trees and a new Lego wild grizzly bear I am sure others will have more ideas but those are just my basic ones
  12. I finished building it earlier today and I must say it is really awesome  The locomotive took me about 2 hrs to build and the gear function was really sweet and well designed Details are everywhere, making this an awesome locomotive The coal tender is very nice and I built it in about 30 mins and was a much quicker and easier build than the loco As for the passenger car, it is a thing of a beauty The new buffers are really nice and I like them better that the old ones Great Buy and very well designed Now last night I gathered all my 9V tracks and built the circle, only to find out that one of the tracks has been damaged The rail and brick 1x1 on the corner of the track has been snapped making it non use-able I will email Lego for a replacement track Now for motorizing this beast, any suggestions? How would you add 9V to it? Or do you like PF?
  13. Great Review I built this last night and it was really a fun and easy build The "modular" start and numbered bags are making me feel spoiled, back in the day, there was just lots of unsorted bricks Lime green stripes add a nice color touch that we don't often see The figs are superb, the female has a nice torso and hair piece Same with the male, nice diversity The camper itself is very cool, opens up and has a surfboard and bike I thought that the TV screen with the NEWS on was funny, because when people go on vacation they are trying to relax from the real world and we find them watching the NEWS and sitting down, not being outdoorsy I would love to see a lakeside cabin (with boat) set or truck w/kayak and maybe some of those spruce trees in the future A camping sub genre has loads of possibilities
  14. This is really cool and I would like to join I would have joined sooner but I didn't have a digital camera
  15. Well I went to the the new LEGO store in Honolulu, HI (opened last week) And I bought: 10194 Emerald Night 7639 Camper Got back today and I can't wait to build them

    City 2010

Aw man, and just when I have decided to dedicate all my purchases to Trains and City What happened TLG?? What was wrong with the civilian side of city? (airport is ok since that is civilian I think) However fire again really makes me angry, I have the 07 fire station and I love it, so no need for another one here! Same with the other fire sets, overkill Airport, I hope that Lego makes this cool since I haven't seen a decent airport since the 1990s or so. I think I good idea would be to release it in bits, like terminals and security checkpoints and shopping, instead of doing it all together with part count limitations and lacking details and lower overall quality. But maybe they will surprise us I think the ones I will enjoy the most are the farm and cars sets The past ones look great and maybe one day I can buy them if there is a TRU opened here Hopefully we see more civilian sets like the City Corner set! Buses and other shops can be made as possible add on's or expansions Is TLC having trouble selling civilian based sets I wonder???
  17. Trains I have always enjoyed having they have been a great addition to City! Plus who doesn't like a LEGO train running around their city? City is my primary favorite theme, along with Trains as a subtheme. I first got a Lego Train in 1999, it was my beloved Railway Express (as a gift) Now of course it isn't the most awesome LEGO Train ever designed but it will always have a special place in my heart. I remember all the nice little features it had, the loader ramp, the 4 wide cars, the movie and dining area, all such great fun! And those 9V promo ads it came with are extremely nostalgic to me. Such great layouts and I used to dream about having one like it some day. In 2006 I went to the Glendale Galleria Lego Store and once again bought a train It was the High speed train locomotive. I paid about $40 for it, which was very high as the release price was cheaper and I could not afford the passenger wagon . I modified it a bit to run with a 9V motor, but took it apart because I didn't have the bley boogies. , it was nice but nothing like my Railway Express. I longed for the days of a long passenger train and station. Future Trains For the lack of 9V around me, I have decided to embrace PF & RC Trains, and mainly convert all my future trains to the system. I have yet to own one plastic track but will soon hopefully. I hope to work on my Train Collection alot this year, Maersk Container Train, Emerald Night Express, and also past greats I missed out like the Santa Fe Super Chief and Train Engine Shed. If any kind fellow collectors have any extras of them and are willing to sell please send me a PM. - BNSF (& TTX) - Train Engine Shed - Super Chief (& Cars) - Level Crossing
  18. It took me awhile to find this topic Anywho, only 9 more days until it comes out in the US, I know it came out in Japan already I respectfully disagree, I will say the parts I didn't like however The plot is about a cube, ok The parents of Sam and their crappy dialog Really annoying and pointless most of the time, you think the script writer could have put some thing better in ? Inconsistency in Decepticon strength, in the beginning, Blackout is almost impossible to kill, and then at the end 3-4 get killed real easily Not so annoying but just a detail I really enjoyed the transforming parts, the makers of the movie worked really hard to make it as realistic as possible Finally before I saw the movie, I didn't like them and after I saw it, I loved them On the note of Revenge of the Fallen Once again the plot is kinda iffy just as the first one Loads of more transformers, I hope that isn't just so they can be killed off in the film Waste of characters IMO I really enjoyed the Super Bowl trailer and was nice surprise The game for the movie, I hope will be better than the original
  19. I think it might be real But then again a strong argument that it might be a fake I remember all those days when we would carry on whether a set was real or not Indy as a Lego theme was also highly debated I think that 2009 is the best year yet for Indy as a theme, there are some great new sets and figs! (just thought I'd say that, since this is my 1st post in this topic )
  20. Aw alot of good themes have already been mentioned, but I thought of one or two Specific objects - Empire State Building - Great Pyramid - Leaning Tower of Pisa (spelling ?) - Sphinx - Golden Gate Bridge General Themes: - 20s City type theme (gangsters, old fords and roaring twenties take on the city theme) - 50s City type sub-theme (same as above, apply generation changes as needed) Other ideas or maybe an adventure category King Kong? uh change Iron Man to, getting the Marvel License back too maybe!
  21. I would love to see a separate helmet and Jet-pack for two bounty hunters that exist in a current theme And maybe a return of such parts like the Giant spruce tree and pitchfork
  22. Nice, I can add this to the "most wanted" figs list I am currently making I'm glad this one will be available easier than past chrome figures, i don't want to mention names here though
  23. Whoa thats awesome! We sure need more of those
  24. I want them to re-release old sets ( ) Some good additions would be the islanders or natives, great way to include pirates or soldiers into the sets as victims and captives I think we need some more nice ships, with less skull on the canvas, I hate that Lego has always done that, what was wrong with plain solid colors or stripes? Maybe some new figs, all the ones so far have been great! Pirate base, similar to old ones and a Soldier base, nice how LEGO sticks with one color of soldier (hehe) Finally to put the Indy gold idol to use, maybe throw it in a set or two as the islanders treasure (just testing this one out hehe)
  25. Great review! Smaller than I expected, I guess this means more swooshing!! The figs are superb, and the death star plans leads to ideas about a CW episode The price I can see being brought down a little maybe $10 or $20 but oh well
