  1. It is different, not only because Orthanc is an exclusive, but he also comes with the slope that can be used instead of normal legs.
  2. It is very unlikely LEGO would introduce a completely new character in two sets, especially when one of the sets is cheaper than the other.
  3. Oh, there are two red haired warriors. Well then, maybe we will get both Beorn and Bolg. I'd like that rather than Elrond. Let's hope that pictures are released soon so all this speculation can be put to rest! Also, if Bolg is in Dol Guldur Battle and looks taller than the others, he may just have a similar treatment as Azog, with a big head/shoulder piece that adds height.
  4. Wait, the warrior with red hair is in the smallest set (Dol Guldur Ambush) or in the the biggest (Dol Guldur Battle). If the name is as short as you say, it likely is Bolg. And the reason the fig on the box art is different from the fig on the fig line up at the bottom of the box is because the one on the box art is likely a simple mock-up that LEGO made out of existing parts/new parts in development (much like the white cave troll in the Mines of Moria prelim), while the one in the line up is the actual design, likely still in its drawn state (final drawing that gets approved before it becomes a real LEGO element). That was the case with the Orc Forge prelim from last year's toy fair (Lurtz was drawn on the line up with armour, a new hairpiece, and a slightly different face), or this year's Black Gate or Corsair prelims (the orcs in the line up were drawn concepts of new orc variants). So if the colours other than the red beard were drastically different than that of the one on the box art, I'd say it is safe to assume it is Bolg.
  5. Manu Bennett confirmed in an interview that he is in films two and three quite extensively.
  6. So if it's regular legs, there is still a chance it's Bolg. Since prelims tend to be so blurry, it's difficult to distinguish details, like printing, but overall shape and how the fig seems to be acting on the box art (confronting Gandalf or confronting the orcs) can determine who it is. And the image we got of Bolg showed him wearing armour similar to that seen on the orcs in the most recent trailer, along with the fact that the background of said image looks a lot like Dol Guldur. I wouldn't be surprised in Azog chases Thorin and Co. until the reach Laketown, but after trying to get into the city, he decides to wait for them, knowing that Thorin will eventually head towards Erebor. At this point, he could be summoned by Sauron to come to Dol Guldur to assist in the fight against Gandalf and Radagast. Azog would oblige, and that could explain his appearance at Dol Guldur. But this is all speculation on my part. It would be cool if Azog is like an agent of Sauron's, and Sauron allows him to roam freely as he wishes under the condition that when Sauron summons him for war, he must come. Anyway, that kinda became slightly off-topic, but it would be a really cool way of explaining any involvement from Azog at Dol Guldur.
  7. Its true that the change could've been made months ago. And yeah, the longer legs are kind of a major sign that it is Beorn. I just think that Bolg being in the bigger, more expensive set based on a location he is likely going to be at in the film makes way more sense than Beorn being there. Also, the Dol Guldur Ambush set wouldn't be an ambush if it contained two orcs and Bolg. That's just a battle pack. I have a feeling this set will have Elrond in his armour. The one thing I'd love to see is a new Elven sword. A one handed silver sword would be great. Give it to the Mirkwood Elves in armour (hopefully we'll get those) with shields. Plus, it would be more accurate for Thranduil's sword, and it could be used for Orcrist.
  8. I thought that Bridge Direct wasn't gonna release Bolg due to changes in the story. The more that I think about it, there is no way that at this point, two months before the film's release, that any significant changes could be made in the story. There is no time for any sort of reshoot or design changes, so the Bolg we've seen is likely the Bolg we'll get. I also think that, even though the prelim makes the fig seem like it's not an Orc, the red beard is one of the most recognizable characteristics of Bolg. I wonder what sort of colours the fig seemed to have other than the red beard. Bolg's skin could easily be tan, which could've been mistaken for flesh. It's a shame we can't get a glimpse of the prelims. I'm sure a quick look would clear this up.
  9. Yeah, but LEGO may not have gotten that chance. The news of the change and Bridge Direct not releasing a figure is very recent, and it is unlikely that LEGO would have had the time to remedy it. So either it is Bolg, and he looks like his original design. It's an Orc that looks like the original Bolg, but with a new name (like the Azog/Yazneg retcon), or it is in fact a prelim Beorn. But I would much rather the Bolg fig instead of Beorn.
  10. New, movie-accurate eyes. And he looks to be light bley. I like it.
  11. So I'v eben doing some research about Bolg and his role in the films. I've discovered that the Bridge Direct Bolg action figure described him as the Necromancer's interrogator at Dol Guldur, and this also makes sense of the Bridge Direct Gandalf/Bolg action figure pack. I truly believe that Bolg will be included in the big Dol Guldur set. And I gotta say, I'm really friggin excited about that fig. Bolg is by far the most terrifying orc PJ has yet designed, and I really hope he is portrayed as a sadistic torturer, as well as a ruthless warrior.
  12. Well, last year Toys Toys Toys (a smaller toy store chain in Canada) had all the sets minus Barrel Escape by the first or second week of November (although they were slightly over priced). The sets weren't in LEGO stores till December.
  13. If the catalog is out and being view by the retailers, then I'd say its safe to expect either prelims or official pics in the next couple weeks. Hopefully by November, LEGO will update the Hobbit site and slowly unveil the sets like they did last year.
  14. He got a look at the catalogue with the prelims.
  15. Maybe Thrain?
  16. kris kelvin, was there a release date on the pictures? We've heard things about November and December, but haven't heard any actual date of release.
  17. Warrior with a red beard in Dol Guldur... if there is a white Orc as well, maybe (for some weird reason) Azog and Bolg are at Dol Guldur? Kinda weird, but I'll take what I can get.
  18. If they do a UCS Slave 1, it should be to scale with the UCS Falcon. The UCS Falcon was minifig scale, so it would be appropriate for them to make Slave 1 in the same scale.
  19. That is a nice theory, but I'm not sure if LEGO would release two Middle-Earth related D2C sets within six months of each other. Although, LEGO does consider LOTR and The Hobbit to be their own themes, so there is a chance.
  20. I really like how Beorn looks! Fantastic! If they make him into a fig, they should make him like the made Woody and Jesse in the Toy Story theme.
  21. The set hasn't been there for a while, at least for Canada.
  22. And if that's the case, they could do The Cracks of Doom. Small set that depicts the entrance and rock ledge where Frodo stands. Includes Frodo and Sam, both in dirty clothes.
  23. No. It was just a rumour.
  24. It may not be part of a flashback. That wouldn't make sense. They covered Smaug's destruction of Dale in the beginning of AUJ. But I think stuff is gonna happen again in Dale. And yeah, that's Bard with the Black Arrow.
  25. I remember PJ saying that there wouldn't be a romance between Legolas and Tauriel, but it seems from that trailer that it's Legolas who is attracted to Tauriel, but she doesn't feel the same way. It may be an attempt to make Legolas more 'human', and accentuate Tauriel's cold, warrior-like personality. And this may be a way to create an interesting relationship/conflict between Legolas and Thranduil.
