  1. Hopefully I'm not repeating something already discussed here, but the black R2 droid is listed on Lego as R2-Q5, whereas the previous black R2 unit from set 6211 was R2-D5. Now looking at the pics, it looks like the torso (cylinder) has slightly different patterning on it, at the top the R2-Q5 has what looks like to me ( I am red-green colour blind mind you) like two horizontal red bars whereas the the R2-D5 has these bars in metallic gold.
  2. Just ordered the 10188 Death Star from shop at home at a relative bargain of $400 AU, surely this is a mistake like the green grocer set going for $150 (same as US $ price) and then a few days later being adjusted to $250 AU. It's already the number one Australian seller so I'd recommend to Aussies to get in now, because it just isn't consistent that we're paying less than the US for a set. Shipping was not quite as bad as I thought it would be $45. Edit: This price looks like it is here to stay going on the NZ price of $430 NZ, just $327 US!!
  3. Cool idea, that's a great twist on it, I'm glad everyone's enjoying this thread, I hadn't checked it since about ten minutes after starting it and now there's 7 pages of replies!
  4. I have that set, and I love it, it was only a US release so I had to pay big $s for it as an adult, but it was definitely worth it. It looks like our member numbers here just make it into the star wars minis and the old star wars minifig packs.
  5. I just noticed my member number here is 1497, and I was thinking how cool it would be if it was 1499 as it would be a rare classic space set, my favourite theme as I grew up with it. Anyway, I decided to check out what set 1497 is, and it turns out it's a cute pit stop and crew, perhaps I'll have to get myself one now http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=1497-1. So does your member number match a set you like or dislike, I want to hear about it!
  6. After seeing the Indi Brickmaster set I was quite envious of all of you in the US (my apologies to Canadians if it's actually all of North America) being the only ones able to subscribe, but after seeing this I'm pretty happy I can't get the subscription, yeah the set is cute, but minis just don't do it for me. For those that love it, you might be in luck because I think plenty of subscribers will be selling this one off and hoping the 2nd exclusive will at least include a minifig. 7. I don't think there's much chance they'll continue with the Speed Racer theme, I'd love more City sits along the lines of the recycle/garbage truck and cement mixer from last year.
  8. I tend to only collect episode 4-6 sets so it was going to be a cheap year for me, I just bought a few stormie and rebel battle packs, but that death star looks beautiful, although if it's $600 Australian I won't be able to justify spending that. So it might be a cheap but disappointing year for SW lego for me. To the person that said that they would wait for the Death Star to go on clearance, I admire your optimism in thinking that will ever happen!
  9. And while you're there, check out his feedback.
  10. Actually like many international businesses most of TLC's transactions are done in US $s, what this means is that with a weakening US $ that the price in US $s of lego sets will start to rise, however, the great disparity between US prices and other prices around the globe will start to shrink. This will take a little while to filter through as Lego would have signed many contracts in US $s that are still to expire.
  11. Thanks for finding that, but you're right, that price really does suck!
  12. Either the Lego company is very clever and worked out there are two distinct markets for their sets, 1. kids who will watch the new clone wars show and 2. AFOLs who love original trilogy sets...Or the sales of the clone wars sets are going to take one mighty hit as people save their $s or euros or pounds for this beautiful piece of art.
  13. OMG, that is awesome but how on earth am I going to be able to afford it? OK, now that I'm off the floor I can comment. Chrome saber hilts are back!! Is that a silver crossbow that chewie has? Watch everyone start selling off their least favourite star wars sets in order to pay for this baby.
  14. I think it was on fbtb.net that the cloud (not Clud ) city set came a distant third so only the other two are being considered. I went for the cruiser.
  15. This is the same Luke hair piece as used for the UCS Falcon. I guess there's a good chance we'll get the UCS Falcon versions of the Leia and Obi figs as well which would be absolutely brilliant.
  16. Oh we're everywhere, we're taking over europe, one website at a time ;-) Nick good to have you here, I'm a huge old school space fan too.
  17. Does the Luke stormtrooper come with stumpy legs because as Leia said "aren't you a little short to be a stormtrooper?". Thanks for pics, it has really whet my appetite for the set.
  18. Oh I'm not annoyed for me, I was just having a look, I have two myself, I was feeling more for the other buyers out there. Yeah but even $70 is a good price as it is only available at lego shop at home, and then you have to factor in $30+ for shipping of just one set and lego don't ship withthe best packaging. There weren't any on the storage shelves above, I do hope there are some available for others and I hope a few fans here managed to get their hands on one or two.
  19. 100% serious. Also, that's why it annoys me that re-sellers grab them all, because they've taken away the opportunity for someoene with this much enthusiasm about a set to get one at the retailer's price.
  20. For Aussies, I saw the toys r us catalogue last night (sale starts tomorrow) and they have the 6212 x-wing in stock and for just $60, plus they have the episode one republic cruiser on sale for about the third time at $120. Also I think today is the last day of k-mart's 15% off sale. edit update: I went to my local toys r us (Adelaide) and the sale has started, all 6212s gone, and you just know it's people looking to re-sell them at inflated prices later, not really in the spirit of "play well".
  21. That's a huge effort, well done, do you know how many pieces it is. As someone else mentioned, the legs seem skinny (But I'll take your word about them being in proportion). But on reflection it's not that they're too skinny but that they're misisng bits on the sides, is this something that you'll be adding to? This is such a minor criticism as I think overall it looks great, thanks for sharing it with us!
  22. Is that a major tease of a comment or what?? Come on, spill whatever info you have! OK, so this is most likely the death star set that you're talking about, but why are we going to flip? 35 minifigs, 2,000 pieces? From your comment I'm assuming you've seen a prototype, am I correct?
  23. Brilliant, a huge amount of creativity there. To do what you did with such limited piece counts is exceptional. They're at least as good as most of the alternate models Lego show on sets.
  24. Cheers! much appreciated!! Now I know why I couldn't find it, I put 'tie' in my search, seeing he's wearing a tie and this usually rates a mention in the item description.
  25. yep, the David Tennant one was the one I was asking about, any chance of a link to the part (not a case of laziness in looking for it for myself, I looked for 10 minutes and couldn't find it*) *Although I thought i was thorough, this could have been a 'boys look', whereby it was actually the first torso I saw in my search but somehow had a blind spot and couldn't see it.
