Ok, you win worst set, unless someone has a galidor set, there's no beating you! On closer inspection this could be worse than galidor, check him out without his clothes, that's creepy

Elegant is the word I'd use. I love it how you matched the overalls with colour of the tractor, they are both red right? i am red-green colour blind so could be making a public fool of myself. It has me hoping that talk/speculation of a future farm line that's not duplo will come out in the next year or two is true. I can see the sets now, the barn complete with haystack and farmer's daughter, oh get your mind out of the gutter people, she's just milking a cow

i think this set has got people excited for several reasons. 1. Its novelty value, never before have we seen a wind turbine. 2. Not only is it a new idea but one that most of us wouldn't have put in the top 100 city sets lego might produce, so there's a surprise factor there 3. the cottage is cute 4. the words "limited edition" on a box always get hardcore Lego fans salivating for a bit and finally particularly when it is branded with an outside company's name 5. It has a power function that doesn't look overly complicated to build, although who knows how complex it is underneath, ok one more, 6. it could serve as a very expensive fan.

Thanks for the review. I've never actually seen this set before and it definitely has that classic lego charm about it. if you take away the vehicle it looks like the sort of things you might find in a modern advent calendar. I have to admit I have a soft spot for classic town because as a kid when there weren't any affordable classic space sets at the shop I'd get a classic town one instead. In fact I've been pulling them out over the last few nights...the strange things a grown man does while his girlfriend is away...

A 9V cross track. Sure it doesn't sound exciting but it allows me to use up all those curved pieces of track I couldn't find a use for before.

Thanks for another informative review of the best Lego theme ever, and not in attempt to hijack your thread but to add to it, here's a pic of my blacktron 1 version of this beautiful set. the 6927 has to rate as one of the best 5 classic space sets ever along with 918, 6970 and 928.

Thanks for this review of a real classic. I love its elegantly simple design. I rated it above average, it would have got maximum if it was that bit newer and had 'real' minifigs, not that it could be helped. There's something comforting about a simple brick and plate design.

Welcome, and it shows that being the youngest child in a family sometimes has its benefits with hand-me-downs!

So what they're saying is that although there were these lateish changes to the set they managed to get the North American prices updated to reflect this but forgot about the rest of the world. I guess we should be happy they remembered to update the pics. Are we supposed to believe that Lego has the prices listed on their computer system before sets are even finalised, I find this a very strange way to do business. Given the falling US $ the original prices weren't that surprising but perhaps there was just a little too strong a demand and Lego noticed this. it wouldn't surprise me at all if there was some downward price adjustment before too long on this set although I think the chances of seeing this at the originally listed prices is nil.

No MFs but a heap of AT-ATs (Firle SA), it just doesn't cut it compared to the 4483. It really is a technic set with a few plates put on it to disguise that fact. I had heard so many oridnary things about it but I decided to have a close look at k-mart and it really isn't aesthetically pleasing, the head looks flimsy and the handle rather than the hump in the middle of the back just doesn't look right. -
From the "g'day" am I right in assuming you're Australian. If so, there's a whole thread devoted to voted to Lego sales in Australia because we have so many going on at the moment. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...c=19244&hl= Matt (a giant space lego fan, no I'm not a giant, my fan status is giant)

Agents Review - 8637 Volcano Base - Mission 8
Hewman replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
that is the most thorough review I've ever seen svelte_corps. A great job you did, right down to putting all those stickers on perfectly. Thanks for pointing out all those great little details. I love all the trans-orange. The metallic door is just superb. Also the price of just under $100 Aus seems pretty good, was that full retail price? Did you get this from shop at home or is available retail somewhere? Thanks Matt -

I recently got a message from qantas frequent flyer saying my points are expiring next month, but seeing I have no intention of flying in the next month I ignored it, then I get a letter in the mail saying I can use my points to buy stuff at their rewards shop. They had 6 lego sets to choose from including the fire station which was mighty tempting but Icould also get a Target voucher for $100, with the sale coming up I chose that so it looks like I'll be getting myself a bat tumbler and still have money left over for some smaller sets, yay! -
I'm glad someone else ranted about this problem. I was one of the lucky ones to order the death star at the original price and I went back to shop at home thinking about getting a second and also grabbing some of the discounted star wars sets they have at the moment for Australians. I filled up my cart and went to checkout and it asked me to update my account, it wouldn't work. I tried it again that night on my home computer and again the same issue. I don't know how they expect to make sales when you can't even check out.

Thanks again Brickster. I too think this is the best of the classic space bases, I got so many hundreds of hours of enjoyment from it as a kid and I agree with you about all tose great little touches it has in it. That clear plastic cup was once a total rarity until it appeared in a few modern sets and I bought a few more just so all my classic spacemen could have a space drink.

Yes, but I don't have a spouse to have to justify buying lego too, but I'm sure your wife gives you more happiness than a lego set could ever give me! Edit: I just saw on shop at home that the 6211 imperial star destroyer is down to $125, several other star wars sets are also heavily discounted, as are a couple of last year's batman sets. Edit 2: Death star now $630, I would never have bought it at that price, but given they've billed my credit card they better not cancel my order. -

I checked out K-mart last night and was very good and resisted buying anything seeing I've just spent $445 on the death star. They had a heap of AT-ATs (anyone else seen they're actually advertising this set on tv, so I think they must have bought them in huge numbers) and SW minifig battle packs there still, lots of Indi, but no millenium falcons. For castle fans there was just one dwarves mine and one skeleton tower left as well as the impulse sets. -
What are your 3 Most Wanted LEGO Sets of All Time?
Hewman replied to G.L.MAN's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is such a tough choice, I'm only mentioning sets I don't have, so in no particular order 10132 motorized Hogwart's Express 7163 Star Wars Republic gunship, yet for some reason I have no desire to get the upcoming clne wars gunship, I think it's the stickers and lack of bubbles, that and I'm not particularly into the figs that come with it 7979 The to be released castle advent calendar -
let us know what particular star wars lego you're into, there's so much great information here, reviews, sales, sneak peeks at what's coming out and the peopele are great too. Welcome and have fun here!

Well my k-mart is opening at 12:01 tonight for the ultra keen. Those AT-ATs are going to move quickly at that price. As much as I'd love to partake in the sales, particularly to grab some of the castle bargains at big W, I really can't justify it seeing I purchased the death star the other day. If Myer or DJ's ever heavily discount the green grocer or cafe corner sets then that's going to be mighty tempting. -
Mine is in excellent shape (have both antennas in great condition) but it's not one from my childhood. I managed to get a top quality one as an adult and then bought a box with inner trays separately, now they cost a bit, particularly as the Aussie $ was worth just over half of what it's worth now. The only large base I had as a kid was the 6970 which... I believe is the next one you will review judging from the background of your pic.

that must be one of the best ratios of printed parts ever 11/161 or 15 parts if you count the minifig torsos. I have this set (ok, techinically I have the 926 crater plate version) and it sits magnificently with the other classic space bases of that era. So Brickster, is the 928/497 the next on your review list?

What New Themes or Sets would you like TLG to make?
Hewman replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd love a small line of updated classic space sets to celebrate the approximate 30 year anniversary of Classic Space. In particular I'd like to see modern takes incorporating SNOT techniches on the 924 and 928 space ships, they could be the 934 and 938. -
If any Eurobrickers out there would like to help out an Aussie train enthusiast, I'll pay double the sale price plus postage for a 9 V motor, a cross over track and three packs of straight rails. Send me a private message if you can help out. Cheers Matt
