  1. I believe you said Toyworld will be having a Kingdoms month but nothing about 'exclusivity' of the sets (I'm looking for the right emoticon to show I'm just stirring). Although if I go back and check and discover I'm wrong I reserve the right to edit my posts to remove any evidence of this! Given Outer rim's post though it sounds like Toyworld may be getting this as a short term exclusive, which there is precedent for at other stores.
  2. Also the Kingdoms mill is up at the expected price of $120, which isn't too bad if there's a myer 20% and another 10% off sale in a few weeks.
  3. Just a brief report from my lunch time sojourn around Adelaide city centre. David Jones have 20% off Lego, although not much that isn't available at many other places. They did have a few Fire Brigade sets that would be $240 after discount. Nothing happening at Myer, although they are having some sales just because DJs are, their actual stocktake sale doesn't start until the 8th according to signs there. They did have one imperial flagship there at full price. And no sign of a Black pearl of any sort. There were masses of other PotC sets, they don't look like they're selling well at all. Toyworld didn't have any new sets such as the winter bakery that others have been reporting as being in stores in other states. I guess we'll have to wait until the sales towards the end of the month for any big news. I'm just hoping Alien COnquest and Kingdoms make it to Myer (I'd be disappointed if Kingdoms is a toyworld exclusive).
  4. Shop at home has just listed a bunch of new sets. The Dathomir Speeder price is correct, the Geonosian set is $60 but Darth Maul is $130! The Millennium falcon is $250 (to be honest I thought this might have been even more). Only a couple small sets from Kingdoms and Alien Conquest are listed right now.
  5. Thanks for the review. The figs are very cute. I previously purchased an Oxford Hello Kitty set that was very good quality (but normal lego size). Where in Aus did you find this?
  6. I just saw June 1 and didn't notice it said 2010. Thanks for noticing. Thanks for finding out, mate. I think I was being rather optimistic thinking it would come out this week.
  7. Just a quick correction, apparently it airs tomorrow night (not that I will be watching) and the sale starts on Thursday. I'm still holding out the possibly ridiculous hope that this is when Myer will release the Black Pearl (as June 1 was mentioned in this thread as the release date).
  8. There's some talk in the PotC thread about Myer releasing the Black Pearl this week. I believe someone mentioned that in this thread a month or two ago as well.
  9. I've had very mixed quality of packaging with them (and I always pay extra for quicker shipping). They do have Cars sets available, and if you thought we were getting screwed on PotC sets, that's nothing compared to Cars. Flo's V8 cafe $60 US or $120 Aus. I was almost tempted to order one even though I have no interest in the theme. Edit 2: What is going on, no longer special order, PotC sets now available on BN.
  10. Barnes and Noble now have the Pirates of the Caribbean sets in stock as opposed to their pre-order fiasco. Anyway, although not brilliant, they are more reliable than The Hut who make up lies about Aus post sending back sets. Also if you haven't registered for the kids club before you can get 30% off your most expensive item (if you're happy to wait a day or so for them to send you the code). Edit: Ignore what I said about them being available, if you actually look at an individual item it tells you it's a 'special order' that takes 3-5 weeks. Given their record on pre-orders I wouldn't bother with that.
  11. Myer, Target, Big W, Target and K-mart all have mid-year sales when a whole lot new stock comes in. They all have their own exclusive sets/themes which often sometimes become very difficult to find later. Also Target and Myer tend to havfe at least 20% off a lot of sets. Last year I think Myer was one of the first sales to start (and from memory it was June 24 I think). Some recent highlights (for me) include set 10193 (medieval Market Village) at Target for $120 in 2009 and last year at Myer I got the Imperial Flagship 10210 for $179.10 (RRP $279 I think), including a Myer One discount which I recommend you join (it's free) if you aren't a member as it often gives an extra 10% off sale prices.
  12. Firstly, welcome, Lego Love. If you'd like to introduce yourself and tell the community here a little about you and Lego, there's a Hello my name is... forum. The free shipping offer for Amazon UK now lasts until at least August, it was supposed to finish this month, so folks you don't have to hurry. The other book that might be worth getting is the new Harry Potter one with the exclusive fig, I'm not sure of the price, it may be cheaper at bookdepository (who have always given me much better service than amazon) who have a code on their front page for 10% off until the end of the month. Thanks for your thoughts on those sets, I don't feel bad about passing on the Cannibal set when I had the chance. I've been on the fence about the QAR even at $150 but it's great to hear another opinion. Finally, a comment to all you fantastic people out there, it's probably only 5 weeks away until we get the great mid-year sales, and there could be a lot here to spend up big on, Pharaoh's Quest, Alien Conquest, Kingdoms Inquest and a bunch of usually shop at home exclusives possibly being available at retail and at discount.
  13. If the current top selling product list on shop at home is anything to go by, Lego won't be reducing their prices to us in Australia any time soon. The pet shop is number 1 at $270 and number 3 is the QAR at $200. Obviously there's a few people out there with more spare cash than I have.
  14. I scanned some sets at Toys R Us Adelaide after work but they came up as one lot of 20% off. Were others having people at the register manually taking an extra 20% off lego as well? They did have about a 2/3 full box of series 2 minifigures as well as some series 3 there.
  15. At the Adelaide store I've only seen series 3 recently. Also anyone looking for a cheap cannibal's escape at Target Adelaide, you won't have much luck, it's the only set sold out (to a re-seller(s) I assume, although at that price the time and hassle might not be worth it as I don't think it will be a set with a high demand). If anyone can provide confirmation either way about the toys r us QAR price, that would be greatly appreciated.
  16. My local Target has the cannibal PotC set currently scanning at $39 (this was mentioned a while back by someone else at a different Target store), so I assume it will be $31.20 tomorrow. Even though that's almost half off RRP I'm still not tempted (although I reserve the right to kick myself later for not grabbing such a bargain).
  17. I've decided I can't justify any of the PotC discount prices (except maybe Captain's Cabin at $19). I'll wait to see if Myer mid-year sale has 20% off and another 10% for Myer One members and I'll re-assess. I've gone through the QAR building instructions and the more I look at it the less interesting it seems, it's only those beautiful sails that keep grabbing my attention.
  18. No PotC at Myer Adelaide as of 20 minutes ago. I looked at the QAR and it when I picked it up there just didn't feel like there was much weight to it so I looked up the weight on bricklink and found it is only a little heavier than Brickbeard's Bounty. The Whitecap bay felt very solid but even at the reduced price of $111 it seems rather expensive. Edit: From Wednesday Toys R Us has 20% off all Lego construction toys, I assume they word it like this to exclude games (even though games require construction). It doesn't list any exclusions about clearance or sale items.
  19. We can dream. But if it does happen I'll be on here letting everyone know, but usually they're smart enough not to allow doubling up of discounts. I'm tempted at $149, maybe Myer will price match and I can at least get some points there.
  20. Well done to all entrants and winners. I think Pharaoh's Quest aesthetics appeal more to AFOLs (including me) and that's why they took out the top three places, but there were fantastic entries for all three themes that were just as creative as the PQ ones.
  21. Yes that post is actually a little confusing, but I just checked on lasoo and it will be $149 at Target, I think that's about the maximum that it's worth. Just shows how much mark up there is when they can so quickly discount it by that much. Lasoo Target. Some other sets are better than 20% as well.
  22. Don't forget to factor in that we can't purchase this from bricks and mortar stores, so we have to pay the ludicrous shop at home shipping which for the slow option is now $45 (so I'm told). So really we're paying a minimum of $315 which is getting close to $340 US. Strangely the NZ price is a fair bit better than the Aus price as well.
  23. The Pet Shop set is to be relaesed May 10 like the rest of the world, at the price of $270, factor in the $35 for shipping (or has it gone up since my last S@H order?) and you're looking at well over twice what someone in the US would pay. As an AFOL it is extremely disappointing to be treated like this. I hope this pricing structure is costing them a lot more than just me not buying from them. I'm more than happy to pay more than the cheapest place in the world to buy lego, but not twice as much.
  24. You made me laugh, 'dotmike'. You're probably right about the vouchers, I saw some tags advertising them in the lego section, so assumed they were valid everywhere but I admit I didn't check out the fine print as I wasn't interested in purchasing anything.
  25. That's what I did with PQ as well, although you end up paying more for shipping because the sets don't tend to all arrive on their site in one go and some sell out. I imagine the QAR will sell out quickly there like most of their big sets do (perhaps they don't get many in). Also, I think we have a winner for the worst voucher ever with that Target one. Edit: I've noticed that no PotC sets have made it into the Aus best sellers yet. This would usually be a shock for new sets that do look very nice, but I think the steep prices are putting off more people than just discerning AFOLs.
