  1. Not sure why you wouldn't believe what was written here, but my best advice is to keep a close eye on B&N to see when the big sets pop up as there's a good chance they will disappear quickly after becoming available.
  2. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I've never seen the really cheap (well cheaply made) clone brands in Adelaide before. Has that tree trunk been affected by a strong see breeze. Just out of curiosity, how much were they (if you don't mind sharing)? How are the pieces in terms of clutch power? OK I had a closer look at the photos and the fact that many pieces don't sit flush answers that. Also that baseplate looks rather flexible to me.
  3. The quality of your words more than made up for lack of quality of the photos! This was never on my must-buy list but you've made me at least decide to look more closely at the set before making a final decision.
  4. I'd say not to worry about it, I just looked at your posts, and there are some fantastic MOCs (yet I didn't comment), most have hundreds of views and I think the title you have been bestowed here is better than 100 people saying "wow, cool MOC". Plus you're an officially recognised "MOC expert" here, a title they just don't hand out to anyone.
  5. For those desperate to get their hands on some of the PotC sets now, the Target prices are actually rounded down to the even dollar, or for Excel nerds, Target Price =int(RRP), so instead of $24.99 for the Captain's cabin you pay $24 (which by the way feels nicely solid in its very small box). Also I don't know if this was store specific to Adelaide but I saw little blue cards up around saying that for every $50 you spend today and tomorrow at Target you get a $5 voucher. None of the On Stranger Tides sets were present. Has anyone that pre-ordered from B&N had the hassles start yet where they end up not honouring your pre-order? I ask because the sets have disappeared off their site, and this is like what I went through with Pharaoh's Quest. 1. They tell you there's a delay 2. They remove a set from your order (in my case the most expensive but leave rest of order open, making the whole order much worse value) 3. They don't allow you to now cancel this order because it's 'ready to ship' 4. They remove everything from your order. 5. They eventually get around to taking the charge off your credit card. 6. The sets appear on their site over the next month but they never have all sets from the theme available at once.
  6. No excitememnt here, I was just reporting the facts to let others know about it. If anyone missed out on the dropship on clearance I don't think it's a bad buy at the sale price. The free shipping is great for those that want to stock up on shop at home exclusives. It might be the last time us in Australia will be able to get a Medieval Market Village for $150 including shipping.
  7. Ten to 20% off a bunch of star wars sets at shop at home for the May the 4th sale. star wars sale
  8. I think we're getting the new Kingdoms line around August (a little later than the USA). As for Pharaoh's Quest we haven't had any definitive information on it. Some have suggested it might be a Target exclusive for a couple months like Pirates was a couple years ago, before being widely available. So it may pop up at the July sales. However, there is precedent for Lego not selling certain themes in some countries. I believe at least the first wave of Space Police 3 wasn't available at retail stores in the UK at all. Like many others I just bit the bullet and ordered them all from overseas. I think a few of the PQ sets are still available on Barnes and Noble that ship fairly cheaply to Australia, although I've found their mid-cost shipping option way quicker than their standard low cost one.
  9. And my votes go to the two sets I would buy right now if they were released Entry 6 - Museum of antiquities - 4 points Entry 13 - Attack on the Nile - 3 points
  10. I'd say don't bother, the chances are they'll cancel all or part of your order on you before they get the sets in. Basically if Lego doesn't supply them by May 1 they cancel. I got completely messed around by them with the Pharaoh's Quest pre-order which consisted of them having the charge on my credit card for several weeks and them never honouring any of the sets I pre-ordered.
  11. Hey Chromeknight, come over to Aussie Sales Thread and you'll see who many of us are.
  12. Welcome, Stephan, a lot of us Aussies hang out in the Aussie Sales Thread. If you haven't checked it out yet, you'll discover there's a lot of great informatin on sales applicable to Australian buyers.
  13. The Police minifig set. I couldn't resist after seeing the documentary on the lego factory that featured elements in this set like the crow bar, new dog and the upgrades to the new criminal minifigs.
  14. That is mighty tempting but I must resist. Adelaide Myer have 20% off all Lego but I don't think you get the extra 10% unless it's in the catalogue. They had series 3 minifigs available for those interested, but no series 4. Target Adelaide had a few copies of their limited edition police set for those that missed out at the last sale.
  15. Correct, but it's only off the items in the catalogue which is still unavailable even though I saw it earlier today. The new big space set was listed I believe at about 20% off, but besides that I can't remember much else, except the board games at 25% which is a very nice deal after the extra 10%. Jonwil, I wasn't suggesting for a second they'll reduce S4 prices (we both know the proabbility of Target putting them on the shelf during this sale), just more common sets that they might not have on sale but Target will. I've found myer quite accommodating with such requests.
  16. From what I can tell from the catalogue it isn't a blanket 20% off all Lego, there are specific sets reduced from 15-25% plus 25% off board games (including lego board games). Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but seeing some sets are on sale at less than 20% off I suspect not everything is on special. However you could just ask them to price match Target's sale. Edit: I just got an email from myer that myer one cardholders get an extra 10% off sale items until Sunday. However, their catalogue is no longer available online, maybe they realised it was a mistake that they listed the castle brickmaster book at $7.95 or there were similar mistakes for even more expensive toys that they don't want to honour.
  17. Going by the set number, it will be a polybag. If it was an impulse set it would have a four digit code.
  18. Or you can pay $22.68 from bookdepository.co.uk and get free shipping (that's reasonably quick too).
  19. Here's some reviews for the hut. Make of them what you will The Hut reviews.
  20. I right hand drive all my vehicles as that's the road rules in my Legoland. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the Pharaoh's Quest sets that they were designed this way.
  21. Yes, I bet lego wish that section didn't make the cut. For those that haven't seen it, Lego talk about how Universe was their biggest single investment ever. Exactly what I thought, it'd be interesting to see how good it really is at removing tiles or if they just had a loosely placed one for the demonstration. It's available in the police minifig pack that also comes with the new dog featured so heavily, so I think I'll have to grab one of those.
  22. That's a great idea but I'm going to take a gamble on them coming to a retailer here some time and be able to buy it on discount. I reckon you can get them off ebay now for less than $250. Also you might find with some sellers that Anyway, it sure beats Galaxy Toys' price which is way above shop at home prices plus shipping and no VIP points. Edit: For those interested in Pharaoh's Quest, the flying mummy set has now appeared on Barnes and Nobles's site. I've combined it with a pre-order of the PotC Whitecap bay set to save posteage, although apparently the PQ set won't ship until the pre-order does so I'll just have to wait and see what happens and hope they don't cancel my order which is a real possibility with how they work with pre-orders.
  23. No, and they apparently aren't in any dealer catalogues yet. So it's either an exclusive at some stge mid to late 2011 to one retailer or not coming to retail here.
  24. Awesome, can I talk about my Oxford brand Hello Kitty brick sets or is that too much like Lego (maybe in the community forum?). PS I quite like the pink for a change of scene, and who doesn't like kitties with guns?
  25. I love the game board, both the shape and the great use of colours and printed pieces. The ostriches are fantastic for the knights. The only letdown for me is the pawns of both sides, but I understand the difficulties in putting together 16 figs at a reasonable cost, sure 8 anubis figs would be great but we don't want to send you broke for a contest! I look forward to your other PQ entries, it's my favourite theme of the year.
