Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

On ebay Portal of Atlantis. This seems insanely cheap. Seller has plenty of feedback and doesn't look like a regular lego seller. Maybe someone can get lucky here. -
Well the imperial flagship has a RRP of $279, and when Myer first got it I paid $180 for it. Myer is the most likely candidate I reckon as David Jones tends to get the modular buildings. Then again there is always a chance it will never make it to retail in Aus. For me as my lego budget isn't infinite, I decided to get Pharaoh's quest sets at a great price from www.bn.com and am then taking the chance that I may be able to get Diagon Alley cheap, if I can't I don't think I'll regret it. The bottom line is it's up to you, no-one here can make up your mind for you. $219 seems a reasonable price for that set for an Australian, but personally I think I can make my lego dollar go further with other sets. Then again if you aren't excited by anything much coming out this year, you should grab it.

Personally I'd wait for now. There's a good chance it will appear at retail later in the year, and if Myer have it at a similar price to the imperial flagship you'll be able to get it for less than $200. It's a very good looking set but lacks playability and only has a few unique figures. I'm leaving it on my list of maybes for now even though I have all of the other current HP sets.

I have a little over 1,000 (but that's from over 30 years of collecting). I decided I'd try my best to keep it to around 1,000 once I reached that mark, so when I get new sets I tend to sell or give away (to friends' children) part of my collection. Thankfully I've been a little underwhelmed by the future PotC and HP sets, so that will save me some agonising decisions about what to get rid of. Edit: Just saw I commented on this thread almost 2 years ago and had over 600, I don't think I've bought 200 per year since then. I think brickset might have done a great job in updating their database in that time.

Myer adelaide had the lamborghini police car in stock (at least 3), and there were signs everywhere about the extra ten per cent off. I didn't notice anything else of major interest there. -
TRU arent't the only ones marking up HP sets, Barnes and Noble are now selling Hogwarts for $150 (instead of $130 like they did before.

For those still to spend a B&N groupon voucher or 30% off voucher, they appear to be adding some older lego sets like The Burrow or the Star Wars Hoth Wampa set, when I've seen this happen before, sets haven't lasted long. -
I tend to follow through with 90% plus of what's on my wish list, but I don't make outrageous claims about buying multiples. My wish list is fairly dynamic and now that some pics have come out my wish list is actually shorter. e.g. The Harry Potter Knight bus to me isn't good enough to justify getting it seeing I have the original, the PotC QAR ship didn't live up to my expectations and with the high price tag, it's now off the wish list. I think there's probably a strong correlation between age and the proportion of a wish list people actually end up purchasing.

Nope, it's an end of lease sale and I was in there today and a staff member came up to me as I was looking at lego to let me know it's all 25% off (I assume until they close down). Some of the more interesting sets I spotted were the two newish city trains and the train station. After discount the Hoth Wampa set is now $60. They also had a few difficult to find sets like that Star Justice set from a few years ago and seemed to have a reasonable supply of collectible figs. Basically they always sell at RRP if you're wondering about any other set. I don't want to list everything I saw but if you have any specific questions I'll do my best to answer. -

Thanks to everyone who has found pics. They've really cemented my decisons on some of the sets. The London escape was a must buy from the first small leaked pics and nothing has changed as the pics got better. After seeing today's pics of the QAR, it looks like I'll be saving my money for the hopefully bigger and better Black Pearl. I love the sails on the QAR but there is something lacking in the details of the ship (maybe because I recently built the Imperial Flagship) and there are just too many skeleton heads for my liking. -

Thanks for the heads up on the imagine if sale. It was probably over a month ago but I saw a Venator for about $120-$130 at a Big W (would have been either TTP or Cumberland Park). It might be worth ringing around a couple to see if they have it. -

I ordered two sets, using 30% code but no groupon vouchers. One set was shipped, one was marked as delayed (but shipped two days later). I get the feeling that sets appear on their site as available even when they have sold out. I also found out about 6 weeks ago that pre-order means nothing to them, so no point ordering any PoC sets yet as it will be taken out of your credit card for a couple weeks and then if they don't get sets in immediately they're due, they'll cancel your order. -
Happy birthday, Svelte. Is there any truth to the rumour that you've turned pro with your reviews because they are so good, hence the lack of EB action recently?

I don't think either of those are clearance items. Even if they're not in the clearance section check if they have a reduced price sticker price on them, that's what they did in Adelaide myer for Slave 1 and Atlantis sets that were definitely reduced. If they are reduced, it's a further 30% off that price. -
Apparently the importer in Australia that Big W got them off went broke. But here's hoping they become an item stocked by most lego sellers later this year.

For those in Adelaide, Target Newton now has the Atlantis temple set, $95.20 after 20% off, sale ends tomorrow I believe. They also have lots of collectible figures by checkout queue. -

Thanks for that news, jonwil, are you in WA (just going from memory here)? If the atlantis sets have hit WA, there's a good chance they've made it to Adelaide, and I like you I won't be able to resist the atlantis temple. Edit: For those in Sydney I just spotted this Dark side developer kit for local pick up which looks like a bargain to me at the buy it now -

Thanks, that's good news that myer are stocking the minifigs, means there's a good chance of actually getting them at 20% off some time. -
You would most definitely be breaking the non-disclosure agreement and leave yourself open to legal action. I strongly recommend that you do not share your ideas here.

For those in Adelaide, for today and the weekend, Toyworld in the city has 25% off all floor stock of lego (no layby available). They haven't put anything new out, the best I could see was their exclusive city house set they have (I think down from $80 to $60) and also that street corner city set with bus and pizza shop (down from $100 to $75). They also had the small toy story dump truck down from $40 to $20 out the front of the store (plenty of those in stock). -

Good move, Brett. Now if your wife wants some alone time, all she has to do is suggest you build the imperial flagship, it will keep you occupied for many hours. Also, I don't know how you build, but this set has no numbered bags so it's definitely worth spending an hour or two beforehand doing an ordered sort of pieces. -

LT, I hope you're right about Pharaoh's Quest as that will just mean it's a short term exclusive before other stores get it, which would be perfect in my book, or if they're 20% off at Target I can grab them all then. If you go to TTP early, can you pop on here later and let us know if there are any new sets there. I have a $10 birthday voucher from them, but when I was there a few days ago, stock levels weren't very good and nothing new. Cheers Hewman Edit: For anyone on the fence about the Imperial Flagship, I say get it while you can tomorrow, assuming your Myer store has some in stock. I've seen them at a couple of SA stores in the past week. I just finished building it tonight after buying it mid-year and it is absolutely stunning and a brilliant build. -

For those Aussies that ordered from Barnes and Noble to get some of the new release sets, get ready for some bad news if my experience is anything to go by. I ordered all the Pharaoh's quest sets, and got emails a while ago saying they'd been delayed a few days and now they ahve cancelled my order for everything. Although they claim not to take money from your credit card until shipping they have had the money on my card since I ordered (I paid through paypal, and no it wasn't those one day appearances on your CC to check you have funds). They still haven't refunded through paypal, even though my entire order is cancelled. And of course I'll get shafted with paypal's currency conversion when I finally get a refund (thankfully it won't be as bad as it could be given the slight fall in Aus $). And on another note, you can't open up a dispute with them on paypal as it is listed as 'pending' and transaction numbers are invalid. If anyone had a similar experience or has actually had something new shipped, I'd love to hear from them. I don't think they get the concept of pre-order which I did to ensure I'd get the goods. I wonder if US natives are getting the same poor experience, or they've just worked out that their shipping to Aus is good value. Oh well, looks like I can save cash for the Atlantis sets due out next month.
