Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

According to the website 10-5 Saturday and Sunday for St Mary's store. I should have checked that before sending off a PM to Steve to ask the same question you had. I assume he's still giving 10% off for VIPs. -

Thanks. I just got the email with the catalogue, also it's only on full priced sets, so unless anyone is after the exclusives they have (and your local toys r us actually has them in stock), it's not much of a sale. -

Thanks mate, looks like I might get myself a copy of Pirate Code now. Assuming that by "all lego" Toys R Us means lego games too. -
The glove world set is a prime candidate to go on clearance (for those countries where spongebob isn't an exclusive to one store), it just looks so barren. Although I'm sure if you're looking for value for money in a set the heroes set isn't the one for you, but I think it's really cute and will probably get it as it has that camp 1960s Batman feel about it, a show that I grew up watching in the 70s and 80s.

I'm not sure if you'll get a lot of takers there seeing you can get complete sets shipped from several bricklink shops in Europe for around $50. -

I believe someone before mentioned clearance sets at Target (apologies that I couldn't find post to credit them). Adelaide Target today had a few Clone Turbo Tanks for $130. -

Yep, seen it at Myer too. Also I don't recall seein git listed as an exclusive in the last lego magazine or catalogue. It definitely looks like a mistake on Big W's part. -

Vagrant, thanks so much for bringing that review to our attention. The one thing that impressed me most was the excellent packaging of the instructions and poster, cardboard protection and inside a plastic bag, something that has only recently been seen in 1000+ piece sets. I don't know if this is just for PotC smaller sets as they have a poster included but it would be great if this was to make it's way into smaller sets from other themes as well. The details on the figs are exquisite, although I'm not a fan of what I assume is a mould line running through Elizabeth Swan's hair. If all the PotC sets have these great details I'll end up buying more of them than I planned to. -
I'm really glad you like them, Jareth. I actually strongly dislike them and they put me off sets. I'm hoping one of the creative geniuses at Lego comes up with a design I like more (but perhaps I'm in the minority and most people like the current style). The issue for me is the green plastic they use for leaves, it just looks barren and not leaf-like, as well as the size of the pieces used to make the trunks (but I have a love of 1x2 and 1x1 bricks)

I received vouchers in the mail yesterday, it said the voucher needs to be presented and has advice for cashier to scan the code and apply discount, it starts today and ends Sunday. -

Don't you need one of the vouchers sent in the mail to use this? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I just didn't want people thinking they could join myer one now and get access to the discount. I find these kinds of discounts a pain to use, I'd prefer a straight 20% rather than messing around with trying to get my purchases add up as close to a multiple of $75 as possible and then discover the set I would like to do that with isn't in stock. -

Myer Adelaide had the bigger city space sets today, prices as listed here before. For those that like the brickmaster and sticker books, amazon.co.uk has free shipping for Aus and NZ people on books, cds and dvds if you spend over 25 pounds and select the cheapest shipping option (this excludes items not actually shipped by amazon, and runs until May 15.) They also have pics of the upcoming city and ninjago brickmaster books, the latter definitely not designed to appeal to the average AFOL. -
Last year I bought one of their original design pirate ships and the quality of the bricks is awful, they look bad, the black looks dirty, and their clutch power is feeble, pieces would randomly fall off and some pieces never stuck at all. The minifigs build quality is awful, loose arms, headgear that's almost impossible to get on... I couldn't get rid of it quickly enough, it's just frustrating to both build and display.

It's a really cool set that I own, but definitely not worth the prices on bricklink. As someone else suggested, buy parts separately for it, in fact, I'd suggest downloading a copy of the instructions from lego.com and work out what sections of the set you like most and just make those bits (most of the sub-sets look pretty good on their own). Also, just substitute in some slightly different minifigs (some have been updated since the set was released anyway).

Peterab, thanks for all the great info. Was there any news on Pharaoh's Quest? -

According to Mr Toys Toyworld (Brisbane, Aus.) site, the PotC prices are as follows: 4195 $200 (as mentioned earlier) 4194 $140 4193 $100 4192 $40 4191 $25 (as mentioned earlier) 4183 $80 4182 $60 4181 $40 I don't imagine too many people in Australia being prepared to pay full retail prices for many (if any) of these sets. -

Peterab, thanks for the news about the exclusives. I always thought the winter bakery was ok but couldn't justify the price plus shop at home shipping. That's great news it will be out here at a retailer some time this year. -
Lego bids to build a greater appeal for girls
Hewman replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm pretty sure it's a plastic piece like that which is used on the snake in the Pharaoh's Quest set (if I could only locate the pic). A zoo theme would be great, and not just for girls, plenty of boys (and some grown men) would like it too. I'm glad Lego are at least aware of this issue. -

Because they were lazy like me and saw no mention of lego on the front page of the catalogue and didn't bother to look any further (yet for some reason I was staring at the pic of Barbie and Ken back together)? Thanks for bringing it to our attention though. That price for the city exclusive is rather tempting even to a guy like me that is dead broke and doesn't collect city. -
That's beautiful, mate, it has really come together well, I had trouble imagining how it would look all together after only seeing the individual sections, but it works magnificently. I love the shots with the gum trees in the background.

It's up there as one of the silliest things I've seen too. I think he's saying an upside down 'U' is like a lower case 'n' which is tenuous, and as for anyone into lego thinking stuff about NDAs is interesting, I really doubt it. Sure Lego get people to sign them for various reasons, as do a million other businesses, it's not really unique to lego.

I just opened my Pyramid set (delivered to my parents' place today). Although it had plenty of airbags, they were all deflated and they used a box from lego which originally contained 2 of the pyramid sets, so it ended up getting bashed around a bit. With the Atlantis temple set (I couldn't resist it at 20% off when it first came out here) it won't be out in the US until mid-year and if you can find another sale like Myer had the other week with 20% off and another 10% for myer one members, that's about the same price as getting it from the US and you don't have to wait and you get a nice mint box. Personally I don't regret paying $119 (not $119.99) less 20% from Target a while ago. They have the same sale now and I'd say the extra $10 in cost is way better than the hassle with waiting many months and ordering from B&N. -

The check out procedure goes through the shipping options without hardly being noticed, and before you even realise there might be options, you're at the confirm payment stage. The default is to go the slow/cheap shipping, so I reckon next week will be a good bet. If you got Pharaoh's Quest sets, they're well worth the wait. The delayed release of these sets will really hurt the retailers here, because not only can we get them cheaper elsewhere but months earlier, but I digress. -

I chose the middle range cost shipping option and mine have all arrived this week. The latest I think I bought on the 12th arrived today. If you chose the standard option I think there's every chance you'll have them next week. They are sweet sets. I haven't noticed the flying mummy available there, has it not appeared or just sold out quickly (any idea anyone?). Also, they ship in huge boxes with air bags, the boxes came in pretty good condition which was nice. Also their price stickers come off easily (no security feature), unlike some of our stores here, I'm looking at you Myer and DJs! -

Adelaide had the Neptune Carrier for $59, no signage that I could see anywhere to say if you get a further 30% off or not.
