  1. I think something odd is happening at amazon.uk. A couple hours ago I put some stuff in my basket and all was eligible to ship to Australia. Just now I added a bunch more lego sets (all supplied by amazon, no 3rd party businesses), ranging form just released to having been out for a couple years and not a single one of them is deliverable to my address here, yet the ones I put in the basket earlier are. It seems very strange, and I'm not sure that this shipping of Lego to Australia is something that is going to last. I'd suggest anyone on the fence about a bargain there, grab it now, just in case it doesn't last.
  2. Thanks for that news distortme. It comes at a time when the $ is at it's highest against the pound for over 25 years.
  3. That is bad. I'm amazed you don't pay for it as soon as you order it. It's not like Myer is a small family run business. Hopefully this poor service helps out the independents a bit. As for the toys r us lay-by saga, I'd like to say I'm surprised by such shoddy service, but it seems pretty consistent with their business practices.
  4. Big W are strange with their clearance pricing. The large space police ship was reduced to $67 for a fair while, the Venator was half price but I've also seen the big Agents helicopter at a couple stores this year, and it's still full price and the set is from 2009. Just some extra details from the Target catalogue for those that haven't looked. Hogwarts Castle $139, Hogwarts Express $89 and the Police Station $99 (this set seems good value everywhere).
  5. Thanks for the info, LT, that's good to know that Alien Conquest is coming out before September, and some accurate advertising "buy it first at Target" rather than claiming to be an exclusive. That small spongebob set is so overpriced.
  6. For those in Adelaide that are planning on going to the early start of the toys r us sale from 5 pm today, there are plenty of the 8404 public transport sets in stock, and plenty of the half price racers set, however they're both downstairs by the checkout and not near the Lego upstairs (unless they move them before the sale starts). Also they had series 2 and 3 minifigs but I couldn't see a price so I don't know if they're the regular $4 per fig (before 3 for 2 sale) or they've jacked up the price to RRP.
  7. I can only speak as an owner of the Imperial flagship having purchased it last year at the Myer sale. It's an extremely long and rewarding build and is the most beautiful ship to display. As I love pirate ships before I saw pics I always wanted the QAR as well. However after downloading the instructions so I could study every detail of it I was a bit underwhelmed particularly in comparison to the Imperial Flagship. Perhaps you could download the IF instructions and see if it's the sort of ship you'll like. The little touches that aren't always obvious from the big pics are brilliant. So if you can get the IF at the current cheap price at Myer, go for it. You won't regret it, and even if you do, it wouldn't be hard to sell later on at a decent price.
  8. It looks like the market has finally determined an acceptable price for the Queen Anne's Revenge in Australia. I just popped into Adelaide Myer and there were none left. People are obviously happy to pay in the $130s for it, although Myer hardly moved any and Target moved very few when they were around $150. Myer were also out of Imperial Flagships, Tower Bridges (if they got any in) but plenty of that giant yellow technic bulldozer set which seemed pretty good value to me if that's what you're into. Also not a sort and store to be found. I guess people are buying them as Christmas gifts for children because as fun as they look I can't see them appealing to most AFOLs. I like sorting my pieces more carefully than something like that would do.
  9. Topic is here but like you I couldn't find it through the search. I just knew what subforum it was. If you post there I'll try to post a useful opinion. I'm not in Perth but PotC sets are everywhere, even at sale prices I wouldn't expect them to be sold out yet.
  10. Online from myer. Downside, you have to wait to get it, $8 delivery and I have no idea how well they package. Upside, much less hassle than ringing and shopping around.
  11. Actually all Lego is in the catalogue by virtue of the "20% off all Lego" statement, so the extra 10% will apply.
  12. Go in today and ask them to put stuff on hold until tomorrow. That's what I did last year to get the Imperial Flagship for the great price of $179.10.
  13. My apologies, they just put it in the same sentence as 'present at store' and in my rush to read I put one and one together and got three! Edit: I've just played around on website and it says collectable toys take 14-21 days to deliver, they don't give a definition that I can see though, but I'd expect the Tower Bridge to be collectable. Also the coupon code isn't valid yet.
  14. The extra 10% off starts Thursday and ends on Saturday. Online extra discount code is "junetoy11" for myer one members. If you're not a member you can probably still sign up and get your number but not your card and that's all you should need. By the way some sets are already up on the myer website including the Tower Bridge with $8 shipping. I'm not sure if you can get the extra 10% with the code online or not, but this and the big technic set are already at the reduced price. Edited to correct hasty mistake!
  15. Also there's quite a few sets scattered throughout the catalogue under specific themes such as Cars (might have been PotC too). I didn't see the catalogue on myer.com.au, but it's there on lasoo.com.au for those that haven't seen it. The minifig sorting heads are super cheap at $30.
  16. In Australia, very poorly. This is both from my own observations but more importantly from a couple people in the know about such things. So if this is a worldwide pattern, the Black Pearl might be the last PotC set we see. Anyone hanging out on the assumption that a bigger and better UCS version will be released later might be regretting that decision come next year some time.
  17. Yes. But it's listed as 'limited stock' so I doubt stores will be getting too many each. If you want it, I'd suggest grabbing it on day one of their sale at what will most likely be 20% off. It's listed in the latest Lego catalogue as an exclusive (which is Big W). Also when they've had exclusives before they've stocked them very poorly. Examples include, Lightsaber duel, the castle skeleton warship in previous years, and last year their stocks of Luke's landspeeder and the pig farm didn't hang around long after the sale. So for those that haven't already got the sets it's very disappointing that Big W are the ones with the exclusive. And no, it's not an early exclusive like Toyworld have with the Kingdoms sets.
  18. Thanks for the pic! I'm in the minority, I really like it. I think Lego have done well in breaking up the black by incorporating those bits of grey. I think it has more old school Pirates charm than the QAR due to its simplicity. As others have said, being a prelim pic, the sails may change and I think the ship could possibly be improved by having some subtle variation in the colour of the sails. The only downside I can see is the lack of an Elizabeth Swann fig, but if I really want one I can pick one up in the small set that's out now.
  19. No prob, I blame Lego for not using the name we originally thought it would be, "Battle for Hogwarts", just "Hogwarts" is too generic, and misleading as we've discovered. Thanks for that news. If there's an extra 10% off for Myer One members for a couple days, that puts some of the overpriced sets into the acceptable price range. Cammy, last year you could buy them online at Myer, so hopefully it's the same this year if it's not at your local store. It's a great ship which you won't regret buying.
  20. I'm not sure what the price of the castle has to do with it. The set, "Hogwarts" is $50 US on B&N.
  21. It was available on the B&N site yesterday, so I'm guessing there.
  22. You can still get most (except the pyramid set) sets from Barnes and Noble and even with shipping (if you buy them all) they'll be cheaper than Big W. Also if you join the kids club you get $5 of vouchers for each $100 spent.
  23. Surprising, the Imperial Shuttle, that's a pretty expensive toy for Target. Although k-mart did get some huge star wars sets that shocked me as well.
  24. I was guessing it's something in the latest catalogue. And Mace's ship was there with the star next to it as an exclusive (not like the star I saw next to the MF which turned out to be for NZ). I'm 99% sure that the Hoth set wil be Toys R Us in Aus. as well as USA.
  25. Mace Windu's starfighter is the only possibility isn't it?
