  1. Adelaide Toys R Us has 40% off all stock because their lease is ending. But before you get too excited, there are very slim pickings. Lots of Cars lego (although I'm pretty sure most was marked above RRP) and the two most overpriced Pirates of the Caribbean sets (whitecap bay and the tavern one) had a few copies on the shelf, plus the crowds were horrible. However, there were plenty of Lego games, so if you're into them it might be worth a visit.
  2. I received an email saying 20% off toys at Myer from tomorrow, so I popped in today just for a look and it looks like it has started already (at least in Adelaide). However the main point of this is to mention they have a couple hard to find sets, there's the Imperial Flagship in large quantities, and they also had a couple of the Kingdoms castle (7946) left which is getting hard to find and will probably only increase in popularity once the Joust set is released.
  3. Yeah you have to be quick for these deals, it sold out quickly, that was probably a 3rd party supplier or the post-sale price you saw. Also use google chrome as your internet browser and it will translate everything into English for you.
  4. The Queen Anne's Revenge is down to about 83 Euro on Amazon France right now. Which would work out just over $100 Australian with shipping, which is a pretty handy discount on this set, if it's the kind of set that floats your boat (in a 'boat does not float' kind of way).
  5. Aw, schucks. But back on topic, I was just checking out new releases on shop at home, and the new jousting set available soon is now $180, I'm sure it was $200 before. If I'm imagining things, anyone feel free to correct me. Perhaps Lego are finally getting the message that Australian prices are too high, particularly for sets that appeal to discerning AFOLs.
  6. K-mart used to do this, and it was back in the time when they regularly clearanced Lego at very good prices, so there were some real bargains to be had. Anyway, at best it's a 25% discount, it's not enough to even get me into Target to have a look and I work 20 metres from one.
  7. AllanSmith has been right before, and until proven wrong I will take him at his word. I for one am excited to see a monsters theme. There isn't a lot I'm interested in next year, so this makes up for it, and hopefully they blend well with my old studios sets. The mention of a theme park intrigues me, is this a reference to Zombieland?
  8. For those after a death star, you can get it from both amazon France and amazon Italy shipped to Australia (I assume other countries too) for less than 300 Euros. So so tempting, but I must save some money for life's essentials.
  9. For those like me that missed out on getting a Millennium Falcon at a great price on amazon.fr, it's now on amazon.it with a shipping date of December 15 and with their express shipping it worked out to less than $150, not as good as some of the deals others have got, but 40% off Aussie RRP was good enough for me, and I might even have it for Christmas.
  10. I don't think we can count the lack of news as evidence classic pirates aren't coming back. After all, we have no leaks of any new PotC, nor many other mid-year themes which will surely have sets like Space (whether it be Alien Conquest or something new) or Castle (whether it be Kingdoms, Lord of the Rings or a new theme). Personally, I don't think we'll get classic pirates in 2012 because Lego would have been hoping PotC did brilliantly and they would have planned ahead for that with potential new set designs. My guess is a return to classic pirates in 2013.
  11. Thanks for those pics. Are they printed pieces in the joker set or has someone done an extraordinary job placing stickers and then photoshopping the edges of them?
  12. I have posted a suggestion on Cuusoo which I think fulfils two strong desires in the AFOL community. It's a Maersk oil rig. I think an oil rig is something that has been missing from an adult style set for the whole history of Lego (well the regular minifig era at least, although there was a 70s set), and who doesn't want a continuation of the Maersk line after the last couple sets. I've done this because it is a set that I would love to see be made, and if by any miracle it did get up, I would donate all profits (because let's face it, it's not like I had to put hundreds of hours of work into it). I've included a pic of a real Maersk Oil Rig, to give people an idea of what it could look like. Yep, they even use their beautiful Maersk blue on their rigs. Anyway, if you'd like to see a set like this made, please support it here. I think it would be great if it achieved even enough support to let Lego know that this is a set AFOLs are interested in, even if it doesn't crack the 10,000 barrier.
  13. There's a specific thread here where all discussion for buying from overseas goes. It's a wealth of information and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for there.
  14. For those in Adelaide, I just visited Toyworld in the city and they had the two medium size Space Police sets on about 40% discount, the limo set was $40 and the mid-range space police vehicle was $35. They also had world racers on clearance, but didn't even bother checking the price, but I don't imagine too many people here would have been desperate for the details. They also had sorting heads for $35 I think.
  15. I did buy the Black Pearl locally which I'm happy enough with, because I haven't come across any better options overseas yet. I'm also tempted to get the big Alien Conquest set from Myer at 25% off, but this one is difficult (not impossible) to source from overseas and I do like my pristine boxes. Besides that, I may get some of the cheaper city or even the small ninjago set that's out early next year locally, but most big sets are better to source from overseas. For those Lego Club members that haven't got their new magazine yet, there's another freebie set in it this year. I won't give away what it is, but it's cuter than last year's snowman.
  16. Nah, the ones before were shipped and sold by amazon.fr. It still appears in my basket but with a ship date of 1 to 2 months. I'll just have to play the waiting game to see if it shows up some time in the next couple weeks as being able to ship from Aus. Also if anyone one wants a death star, there were two on amazon.it earlier this evening, for about 370 Euro I think. My quick calculations before put it at about $420 shipped to Australia.
  17. I don't know, it seems rather random. The majority of sets can still be shipped. Edit: ignore what I said about amazon.es, once you go to checkout, nothing can ship to Australia.
  18. The k-mart I checked out in SA had pretty poor 'clearance' discounts on PotC. I think the tavern set was $79 and Whitecap Bay was $128 (which I thought might be their regular price).
  19. Yeah I just tried to add a few other sets at random, both big and small sets and the MF was the only one that wouldn't ship, which is a bit annoying seeing it was the only one I wanted.
  20. Are the good times over for us Aussies? I saw the price of the Millennium Falcon dropped to just over 100 Euros on amazon.fr, I tried to buy and then got the message that it can't ship to my address. Has anyone else had this issue? This is the first time this has happened to me on amazon.fr.
  21. Plenty of Pet Shops at DJs Adelaide, Fire Brigades too, although they're marked back up to tthe original price of $299 before discount, they were $200 there a while ago. Is the snowman they're giving the way the same as the one that came free with the lego club magazine last year?
  22. If any Aussies are after the Maersk train, it's $100 on amazon.com. I paid $120 (plus shipping) for it and am not regretting it, so for less than $120 including shiping it's a real bargain.
  23. This is exactly what I've done with the Maersk train (10219). I paid full US RRP ($120) at amazon.com, but shipping was less than $20, and seeing it will never make it Australia (and RRP is $200 anyway), I had to snap it up while I had the chance rather than watching, waiting and hoping it might get discounted a little, and then potentially missing out altogether. These 10XXX numbered sets are often going to be the ones that are hard to find at a reasonable price once Lego stops selling them.
  24. I think that's your best option, it seems to be a set that will disappear shortly. Amazon.fr had it reappear briefly a few weeks ago, but it hasn't been seen since it sold out again, and if you really want this set, I wouldn't take the chance that it would reappear there.
