  1. Really amazing! You are really cranking out some great builds recently. Love your building style. +1 for UoP credits.
  2. Count me in on the side of the (long-legged) dwarves then.
  3. Great builds and I really learned something too!
  4. Wait a minute... Your username is "the lego dwarf" and you're siding with men?
  5. Wow! Very cool castle! Looking forward to some more pictures of that. I'm assuming the setup is the same? Mitgardians can choose which side they're on, but participants from other guilds are assigned randomly to a side? In any case, I'm in. My preference is probably on the side of men, since I don't have a lot of dwarf/hobbit/child legs, but I suppose no matter what side, I'll have to include some dwarves in the builds, so it probably doesn't matter.
  6. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Here's the verse: There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. There's probably four or five MOCs worth of material in that song.
  7. Well, Gex may be showing how old he is... I'll drop a few hints: the key points are that the MOC has a wall with a sign, and a brook with a tree next to it, and a parrot songbird.
  8. Nope. I should direct your attention away from the love theme, although not away from the woman, and more towards the details of the scene. Gex and his relationship to the woman are not part of the song.
  9. Great crops! Love the scene.
  10. Great story, and not too wordy at all. I'm going to have to get me a map room like that one!
  11. New build up! I'm on fire! More builds in the past two weeks than in the twelve previous months probably. I'm loving the new building space, and loving my new focus on small vignettes.
  12. As Gex rode away from South Sandstuck, his mind wandered, and he recalled the long ago day he met his wife, who at the time had been about the same age as Lady Sharitah was now. He had been traveling through the thickest part of the Wither Woods, very close to the Avalonian border, when he stumbled into a shady glade in the trees, in front of a crumbling old wall, and by a babbling brook stood the most captivating woman he'd ever seen. It was like a scene in a beautiful song. He was instantly in love. This MOC actually is a scene from a song. I was inspired to build this today after hearing a favorite old song on the radio, which I cranked up to 11! Can anyone guess the song? The babbling brook: More pictures: I'd like to get UoP credits for: flowing water walls tree design #2 maybe landscaping / foliage? (is it big enough?)
  13. Wow, that's a haul! Are they the square tiles or the round ones? I've seen the round ones in the PAB wall at the store, but never the square ones. And a 15kg mystery box! That's a lot of LEGO. How much did it cost?
  14. +1 for the flowing water. Interesting technique for the landscape in the second shot. Reminds me in some way of the really twisted volcanic landscapes in Hawaii.
  15. UoP DoH +1 for four claims, swapping advance snot for sideways rocks also. I really like the minifig posing, and great expressions on a few of them. Plus I like the guy defending his turkey leg! BTW, as a note to others, this is about the minimum size I'd consider for the battle scene credit.
  16. Nice build. I love the colors, and the circular part especially. I agree about the landscaping, covering the baseplate joins, the road, etc, but hey, you've got to build with the bricks you have, right?
  17. Yeah, a lot of my unsorted bricks are from stuff I built a year or two ago. I still haven't fully taken apart the Kaliphlin embassy in Valholl from early 2012 I think. There's still one of the floors left; my son complains every time I threaten to tear it apart. He likes to play with minifigs in all the little rooms. I also just bought some bricks on BrickLink, so I'll have to sort them too. I haven't bought anything on BL for about a year, but prices seemed fairly good right now. Can't wait to use some of the new pieces.
  18. Nocturnus, someone who needs help. Good way to start. Plenty of time to get attacked later.
  19. Kinda quiet in the guild last few days... Everyone must be at the Qarkyr Rocktoberfest! I'm home from work today with a bad cold, and can't concentrate on work stuff, so I'm sorting LEGO! Three huge bins to go through - ugh.
  20. Unbelievable! Thanks so much for taking the time and resources to build this. Epic.
  21. +1 for the walls, and I'd +1 a roofing credit if you wanted one. The roof is simple but it really looks good.
  22. BTW, the temple is derived from the temple at Philae in Egypt:
  23. Thanks for all the compliments and feedback! My son built the cactus for me! I'll tell him that some people love it and other people think it needs work. It's a pretty tame design for him; usually he comes up with pretty wacky stuff. Yes, I was sort of going in the barrel cactus direction, but realized I couldn't really make it look like one, so I decided to make something vaguely deserty-cacti-like. I'm not sure which left part you mean -- the foreground, the sand dunes, or the plates to the left of the temple? In any case, the only photo-editing is to remove the background.
  24. Thanks for nothing! Ugh. That is one catchy tune. Now I'll just have to think of something equally catchy and annoying to get it out of my head. I hear you there. Although when they get older (my youngest is seven), you get to build LEGO with them. Not to mention the excuse of "I didn't buy this set for me, it's for our son!" I'll guess that in your case "not so detailed for the architecture" is still much more detailed and innovative than most of us! Can't wait to see it.
