We had some strikes in Germany this year. One was a strike of the postal workers that caused a huge backlog. We also had some pilot strikes (mostly Lufthansa, so I am not sure if this is an issue here ....) That could explain at least the delay of the shipment from Germany

I have read that here in Munich, Germany, they will charge 2 Euros extra for the Hobbit 12 Euros is the "normal" price for a 3D "enhanced" Movie and they will add 2 Euros. 50 cents because its 48p and the rest because is freaking long and supposedly of better quality than the rest they usually show (no kidding - read this on heise.de for the german speakers among us). I think I'll pass. I call this greed

Eurobricks Event 2013 - Information Topic
harakiri replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Since I am living close to Munich I can probably add to the traffic discussion The easiest way to go from Günzburg to Munich (if you don't want to drive around in the centre hunting for parking space) is using a train. Especially for a group of people its probably your best choice. Depending on the train connection it will roughly take between one hour and 90 minutes from Günzburg to Hauptbahnhof. From there you can take the underground everywhere. If you plan to use a car prepare to park somewhere at the outskirts and then use public transport from there. The store in Riem is at the other end of Munich. The new one in Pasing is not very far away from Haubtbahnhof. Somebody mentioned the Müller chain. They also own the Obletter toystore located on Karlsplatz (Stachus) right besides Europe's most busy McDonalds (sightseeing anybody?). If you want to visit a store besides the Lego store you probably want to check out that one. I might want to join you in Munich, probably have no time to spend the whole weekend in Günzburg though -
I believe the issue will be that the next movie under Disney will not be for people like us, fans of the OT or the expanded universe. They want to address a new generation like the kids I see in the train each morning discussing the Clone Wars series. I somehow doubt it that I will be able to identify with that (will be 50 when the movie comes out 2015. There I said it ....)

I think Disney will find out that they are beating a dead horse. To me Star Wars lost its appeal a lot. I can still remember the time shortly before Episode One came out. There was this trailer and everybody was really exited about it. One or two months before the movie there was a big trade show where I was working and what we did in order to gather people around the booth is to download that trailer in the biggest available format and showing it with a projector on a big screen. Also with a top sound system. Everytime we did there were literally hundreds of people only coming to watch this, many staying after that at our booth. I can also remember my feelings when I left the theatre after watching it: meh! Die Jar-Jar, die! So I fear whatever Disney will produce will be as save as possible in order to protect their investment. It will be for the whole family, it will contain "things" like Jar-Jar that they can use to sell lunch boxes. It won't be too dark. And it will have top special effects in 3D (maybe with smell-o-rama, who knows) but in the end it will be lifeless. Look at the PotC series. The first one was pretty good. They really made a huge bet in order to make this one. What came after was a bit more mediocre. I hope I am wrong, but I expect something like the Disney version of young Anakin with a choir of Ewoks in the background in that movie (shudder)

Babylon 5 interviews, artwork and other stuff
harakiri replied to Triple F's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Babylon 5 was one of the best Science Fiction shows ever, at least its first four seasons, then the quality of the stories declined :-( And I don't even want to mention what came afterwards (Crusade anyone?) While there is no book available some people started very early to "build" the ships using the first 3D modeling programs. Here a page that is collecting these models. http://www.ultradrive.com/b5_3d_index.htm But I guess the interest in B5 is pretty much gone. When I look at the Lurker's Guide I can see that the last modifications were done a few years ago Looks like AM getting old ....
