  1. Yum! nice one!
  2. Thanks, for your kind comments. Now I need to come up with an idea for a real alternative for that set. That was actually my intention in the first place but I had no good ideas and then decided to build that plane instead
  3. Wow! This is nice, I love B5 Getting the instructions now. But I am probably missing some parts ....
  4. Got the Creator set 5866: Rotor Rescue. I really liked one of the alternative builds, the Biplane. When I finally made it yesterday I realized that while looking nice its really missing something: wheels or some under carriage. So I modified the plane so that I got some bricks in order to build some skids for the plane. I think this improved it considerable, but see for yourself: from the side: I modified the tale, the cockpit and the struts. The upper wings are now a little lower than before. Here a detail shot of the skids: Not exactly sure if this counts as a MOC. Technically its more a modification I guess ....
  5. >And to focus they need light. Obscene amounts of it. It drives me nuts. Something like this might help to solve the light issue: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent I am actually planning to build myself something like this for taking pictures of Lego. There are lots of instructions on how to make a light tent on the net, the one above is just a random example. Instead of a flash I will get one or two LED lights that one can get cheaply everywhere (like Homedepot, OBI, or whatever they are called in your country) In order to arrange the camera before the object you could get something like that: http://joby.com/gorillapod Or you go to your local asia shop and buy some rice, fill it in a cloth bag and sew it shut -> self made bean bag. Then follow the advice Darth Dino gave you in his last post and I am sure you will make quality makros using your existing camera
  6. Ok, here is your sample file. Its bigger than the 800x600 required here so I put it into my Dropbox public folder for you to download. Here the link: <removed. send PM if you want to see> Picture was taken with ambient light, no flash. Done in RAW and cropped and converted to JPEG using the free software RawTherapy I did not use a tripod, but since Captain Jack is fairly short I just placed the camera in front of him on the table. For a point and shoot I think the Samsung is really nice.
  7. I do one later (at work right now ) Then you will also know what can be down with bad lighting as I currently don't own a flash gun for it
  8. I got this one as a compact alternative to my DSLR: http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-Digitalkamera-Ultraweitwinkel-Lichtstarkes-AMOLED-Display/dp/B003B2KIXS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316510340&sr=8-1 Pros are that it can take RAW, the lens is really good and its great to use in low light due to the fact that it starts with f1.8 Its slightly above your price range, but I suggest to also check the Amazon Warehouse frequently: http://www.amazon.de/gp/browse.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=A1PA6795UKMFR9&me=A8KICS1PHF7ZO I bought mine there for roughly 220 Euros You could also try to get an used entry level DSLR. There is the Olympus E450 for example. For that you would be able to get the Olympus 35mm Macro. That lens is really nice, especially for its price.
  9. Totally cool idea. Have this set and since I have it I am thinking about a MOC with its parts (thats not a robot).
  10. Thanks for the review. Saves me $50 >and explain in better detail what the brown thing in Day 3 is supposed to be. I would say its this: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mechno-chair
  11. So awesome! Best picture is the one at the fountain
  12. So TOA was right. Here is what it looks like if one wants to have the rear Propeller fully functional: Here are two pictures showing the stud inversion (need to learn LDD fast .... its better than disassembling and reassembling ) Hope that explains the trick
  13. Hi Toa, >It seems the rear propeller tends to collide with the black 1x3 slope. I'd recommend raising the propeller assembly by inserting two of the silver 1x1 round plates from the set >between the black 1x3 slope and the white 2x2 plate. See the picture below: Well you caught me I tried the method you described, but It did not look right in my eyes. I will check later if I find a way to modify this that I like more. I am thinking that placing the two silver 1x1 round plates under the 1x3 slope might work better. But I can assure you that this little flaw does not interfere when swooshing that plane around Your skill with ldd is amazing BTW
  14. The formula one racer is my favorite Especially like the color scheme of it
  15. Its a flying boat, similar to a Catalina or a Dornier Superwal (hope this works. Brand new Brickshelf account!!)
  16. Hi Legostein, thanks for the comment. Just made another plane out of that little set, but its too dark here already for taking decent pictures This needs to wait 'til tomorrow
  17. First try to make an alternate of Lego Creator 5762 Small water plane
  18. that robot with the pram is the killer! now I need to get 4837 (alrteady got 4916 and 6741 because of this thread)
  19. They are made in germany ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicar and I totally like the MOC
  20. 4916 was used for the fish its the monkey set
  21. Thanks a lot, that helped I figured out some way to build it, but it just looked wrong from the underside. Well, I got my hands on the monkey set .... lets see if I can figure out how to build more of your sets.
  22. Hi,

I got myself creator set 6741 and now I am trying to build some of your alternatives. I currently try the speeder design. I would really like to know how you did the underside and if yours is mor stable than what I achieved. Mine easily falls apart ....

    Great inspiration!

    Regards, harakiri
