  1. Greedo? Toy fair will be nice, It'll be nice not stressing out whether Grievous will be good or not. Comparing the size of GG's fighter to the other sets, it almost looks like a UCS set with a fig thrown in.(But of course, it's not doesn't have the 10000 designation.)
  2. I think it all really depends on what era we get our next BPs from- Classic or CW. It seems to me that if it's CW, there's a good chance we're getting Mandos. Why create a new mold for Commando droids when you can recolor the new Boba Fett helmets? Of course, I think there's far more potential in a Classic BP- Endor comes to mind. Another big factor is whether or not the Mandos will pop up again. If they make appearances throughout the CW, then it's likely. If it's limited to these three episodes, then maybe less so. But hey, Lego has already made sets based on even more obscure sources- the Talz and the rocket droids come to mind.
  3. I'm really glad the dialogue has been getting better with the CW. They're actually starting to use big words! The design of the new characters is getting better and better. Mas Amedda looked great, as well as the guy in the hologram. The original characters of the series, however, are starting to stick out like a sore thumb. The red clones on patrol were pretty cool. I liked the crowd control idea, but I think it could have been carried out better with Commandos. The assassin seemed pretty weak. He wasn't nearly as dangerous or prominent as we were led to believe from the previews, more of a casual threat to keep the suspense up. He didn't seem very skilled. For example, a running shot with a sniper rifle, and then jumping down within reach of a Jedi. He didn't have very good aim, either. Well, looks like it'll be a little while until the next episode. There wasn't a preview on tonight, and I checked the schedule- up next week is Lightsaber Lost instead. Still, I suppose all the new, great designs they've been throwing in (Coruscant must be a pain) is wearing them down, and it takes longer to make...
  4. I'm not sure why people feel the need to downsize Travis into "Mandalorian fan-wank" as one commentator put it, Karen's books made a Mando culture that was deeper than any other culture in the SW universe- it also has the first complete(ish. As far as I know, it doesn't compare with Tolkien's at all) language in the SW universe. Of course, I understand the complaints that she was making them into soft romantics. That I found irritating to no end in her last few Commando books- everyone seemed to have a relationship or was stressing about not being in one. However, she managed to set the clones as actual people, not the simplified "they're grown to be docile" crap that we got from Ep. II. I mean, if you had been put through massively lethal combat training for the entirety of your artificially shortened life, you'd be ticked off too, wouldn't you? She also made the SW universe a little more real. I've read some SW books where things go off the deep end, far away from the maybe-possibly-someday restrictions of the original series (excluding some things, like, oh, sound in space. ) As an army journalist, she had more knowledge of what actual soldiers would do in those sitiations. For example, silver armor for special ops? Not a good idea. But, bah, it's not really worth worrying about. The SW universe doesn't really exist after all. If I want, I can block out the more stupid parts of the SW timeline and put it into my own version of it- my EU filter, if you will. I'm glad she didn't write her last Commando book, this way we don't see Skirata develop a love life. I'll go back and read the first Commando book, the best one.
  5. True. Pretty much any action movie. The cool thing about the Mandos was that they all had their individual look- painted armor, weapons, etc. These guys are all just copies of each other... according to Filoni in the commentary, they wanted to keep Boba's uniqueness, because if all Mandos had flamethrowers, there'd be nothing special about him. He did say, though, that they were just starting off as a group, and so the Mandos were just getting trained, and that was why they were all similar. How awesome would it be that as the series went on, the Mandos just kept getting better? That would be great, although I'm fairly sure it was only a three-part story arc.
  6. Hm. I'm not excited to see a lot of Mandos- as we know from SW, the greater the numbers of a group of anonymous bad guys, the worse their aim becomes.
  7. Good that it didn't traumatize you too much. I never seriously believed that Shadows existed in the first place, so no problem there. Happy birthday! Hope you get lego, cake, and band-aids!
  8. Well, the CTT is about three to four times as big as the AT-TE, so the LAAT/c shouldn't be able to carry it. I'm all for playability, though. It's the 'newest' box pic we bave, taken at a toy fair. As for Bossk, I'm waiting until we see the actual, final pics come out- I can't tell whether the Bossk we're seeing is final or not...
  9. A screenshot: Clearly, five sides- it just looks like three because it's printed that way.
  10. My main thought was- "Why is there a giant ship's wheel on a spaceship?" I knew they were trying to give a "Titanic" theme, but that was a little too much. Also, what were the little droids supposed to do? They seemed pretty harmless. overall, though, it was a a pretty good episode.
  11. Easy. The stupid flick-fire piece, and the clone heads in SW. Scratch that, all fleshy heads.
  12. Avatards? I think you'd be surprised. I'm fairly sure that the next Avatar is going to have even better visuals as they perfect it. Also, since the characters were fairly stale in the first movie, they're going to have to actually work very hard to make a good story for it. Of course, the problem is that I can't think of any potential plot other than "The Revenge of the Shareholders."
  13. -Shrek 2,3,4, and whatever they do after it... -Transformers (Both... I actually liked the second one more, but that's all relative) -Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I almost like the series... but a movie is just pushing it. Indiana Jones 4. I hear they're making another one. Happy Feet 2. Yes, I hear they're making a sequel...
  14. While the Commander is interesting, as a $25 set I'm not too interested. A UCS model, however, would be absolutely beautiful.
  15. You should definatately watch the original series first, jsst because, well, they're the classics....in 'remastered' form, though. Of course, all the plot twists will be moot since you probably know the general idea. Definately watch the 2D CW right after you watch Episode II. This was really a great series, and artfully done. All right, getting into complaining mode here: I like Episode I simply because it still has models. This was right before they got heavily into CGI. EP. I had Jar-Jar, too, though, so I'm pretty neutral on the plot on this one... Episode II I like because it had the clones (while they could still aim!) and Jango. SW started to slow down a lot here as they got into politics and Anakin's love obsession with Padme. Episode III seemed to be the furthest away from the OT, to me. All the characters are stylized and groomed, and it seems that just about everything is CGI in it.
  16. I think this should go in the general forum. But I agree- while a lot of alternate models can look very silly, it's nice to have them there to encourage them to build. Nowadays, however, it'd be much harder to do, with how much technic and specific pieces there are. I'd prefer alternate models to be on the back of the instructions. I prefer the back of the box to show me as much stuff about the set I'm buying as possible. However, having the alternate builds does a good job of showing pieces.
  17. I would assume that these are as final as they're going to get. It takes a long time to get a finalized mold, and then starting production also takes a long time. To be honest, I usually give sets the benefit of the doubt. However, I'm not a fan of the Wampa for a few reasons: This is not the shaggy monster we see in Ep. V. This looks more like a big poofy dog. Personally I'm a fan of whatever gives me a discount on an expensive set.
  18. Nice mod- I especially like the interior. However, I'd suggest modding the exterior too. This AT-AT always seemed awkward looking to me. actually, I'd argue that the original, non-motorized AT-AT, when modded, had even more room. I suppose it's because the motorized version has to have the technic frame to support it while walking.
  19. What, you mean Mr. giraffe-neck? While I'm dissapointed that they screwed with the Mandalorian history (not to mention Jango's) at least the Death Watch was pretty neat.
  20. This thread has certainly shown one thing: the people who have an opinion, are knowledgeable about it, and can very clearly express that opinion (with a few exceptions... viscous? ) Of course, this isn't the real reason why Siggy made the thread, but this topic has really provided a great example of why I joined Eurobricks in the first place. Members don't necissarily have to know each other, but a thread in which people take their time to post something, and respond to one another, quoting posts and actually creating a discussion. This is the sort of thread I like. It's much more enjoyable than the opposite- i.e., posts that are written for the sake of just being there, and very little discussion, just voices clamoring to be heard. But, I suppose I've been reading too many news topics. This doesn't mean that it's just adults who are capable of this- far from it. This topic shows it. While I don't know everyone's age, there are people who have written here who have taken the responsibility to respond to issues that concern them and written their opinions on the matter. This comes back to the argument that's been going on. Age doesn't necassarily determine who is capable of writing maturely. However, most of the people that are are adults. But, the '18 and up' rule doesn't seem as black and white as it is. As the staff say, they are trying to judge on a case by case basis. I've noticed, though, that kids who join an 18 or up site tend to be more quiet about their age, and are more careful to look mature. This seems to me to be a victory, even though kids didn't listen to the rules.
  21. That's great. I'm sure I've seen that mistake, though...
  22. Well, they are Mandos, but they're extremist Mandos. As for the lightsaber, yes, they have beskar, and they do have blades made from them. But lightsabers have certain advantages- they're lighter, and they can cut through just about anything (except Mandalorian iron). Of course, Mando blades have their advantages- they don't run out of batteries, and they're pretty heavy.
  23. They had a black lightsaber in The Force Unleashed. I guess it's alright in this episode because it's from the Old Republic era. Well, although I hate what they're doing to the EU here, I'm glad that at least the Death Watch guys are cool. Go bad guys!
  24. Good review. I'd say this set makes an interesting compromise- While it does have large parts, it does have a lot more bricky-ness to it than the last passenger planes. Hooray for 6-wide planes!
  25. I saw Mel Brook's "The Producers." Hilarious movie, although now I can't get "Springtime for Hitler" out of my head. Meh, not looking forward to it. The preview looked a little odd. I suppose I'll wait...
