    The Specter

The Specter, produced by the aerospace division of Sirius Cybernetics cooperation, was designed to be the fasted one-being spaceship in history. And, it was. Initial excitement over the Specter suddenly dried up after its first day on the market, after several well-known space racers died in their Specters. For, although the Specter was phenomenally fast, it also had steering that was worse than an Arcturan Mega-whale's. The Specter also holds the Galactic record for the shortest time on market, as it was banned only three days after being put on sale. By this time, however, several planets had already been destroyed, as the sheer kinetic energy was enough to create an impact on the scale of a large asteroid. Nevertheless, Sirius corp. still continues to sell these vehicles on its own version of the black market. Dangerous and uncontrollable though it may be, it is still sought by extremely rich idiots seeking to impress other extremely rich idiots. As for the color scheme: I intended it to be completely white, but there was one white slope that I couldn't find. So, I put in the black stripes. Although now I think I could have added more black... C&C always welcome.
  2. I just saw this yesterday. It was very impressive- in fact, my teacher showed it to our class. (It was featured on a website where he usually gets his videos from. Link) I'm tempted to show him Mahjga's bridge launcher. The most useless lego machine.
  3. Overall, I think series 2 is superior to the first. Here are some individual opinions: Lion Tamer: Nice. The white whip is good, and the face and torso printing looks great. Not much of a reason to get more than one, though. Explorer: Not much new in the way of parts here, but the printed shorts make up for it. Police officer: Worst of the lot, IMO. nothing new, apart from a slightly different torso.... yawn. Skier: All right! It's about time we got some actual ski gear. We even get a new hat! Surfer: Excellent! The year(s) of the shirtless minifig continue. The shorts are nice, and the stubble face is generic enough to be really useful. However, I would've liked the board to be more colorful. Mexican: Quite possibly the best of the lot. Sombrero, poncho(?), and maracas are amazing! I'd like to see if he has printing on his torso. Pam: I'm sure a Baywatch vig is underway, somewhere. The yellow hair is interesting, and the face looks perfect for Margaret from MASH. Disco guy: Absolutely hilarious. Want. Pharaoh: Also a great fig. The staff and headpiece are great. His torso seems a bit bare, though... Why not include some muscle printing like in the surfer? Mime: Ooh! Arm printing! I love that we get two extra heads, although I would've had something other than two sad heads. I'm not sold on the beret yet, but it's nice to have some variation from BF. Must all berets be identical in shape? Vampire: Awesome- a good, old-fashioned, real vampire. I would've preferred a sneaky, count-ish face rather than a smile. Still, it's a great fig. Witch: Looks fit to be burned....or melted. Probably the melting version. Singer: Meh. The only parts I like are the hair and the microphone. I don't like the gap between the printing and the edge of the torso. Martial artist: Looks great. The trophy is a good touch. Spartan: My favorite. Excellent face printing, nice armor printing, and...are those sandals? The helmet, cape, and spear are great. The shield is a bit meh, though. Weightlifter: Hmm. Looks useful, although it's not very high on my want list. The head, hair, and weights could be useful, though.
  4. Beautiful. What I find most amazing is that you managed to make it so close to MF scale, and the teeth detail on the wheel is superb.
  5. I never leave my sets alone. I always find that there's something to fix, large or small. I've simply removed flick-fires, to completely taking apart my gunship just to fix some structural issues from a previous mod. I mod sets because I have trouble finding the inspiration to start from scratch. When I mod, though, there's always something that can be made more accurate. I haven't made much outside the SW theme (which I stick too very, very loosely), although I do like to make a few humorous vigs outside of the theme.
  6. Yes. According to Jackson, it's going to start filming sometime in the fall. Sigh... how long must we wait?
  7. Beautiful. It looks so futuristic and elegant.
  8. Yay! I've collected up all of my fleshie heads and I was about to trade them off because I don't use them. I might just have to use this, though- fleshie certainly does have some neat faces.
  9. Hm, interesting question. Sites often have individual forums for MOCs, but I have to say I've never seen a forum just for mods. Then again, I don't browse a lot of forums. As for instructions, I'd say the best way to learn is just by fiddling with the set yourself. I always mod my sets, either to get rid of over-simplified parts or add interiors. My main problem is structural integrity- after a mod, I'll find that the set isn't quite as strong as it once was, or has some glaring failure. I usually start by finding the things I dislike/think I could improve on in a set. I don't MOC much, as I have a hard time just getting started, and where to put the first piece. Modding sets is fun, though, but I often get deeper into a mod than I intended- sometimes almost entirely taking apart a set because I didn't know just how deeply embedded some part was.
  10. Neat mech! I love it. The color scheme, the big cockpit, the arms, great job.
  11. Heh, great job! I loved this show as a kid, so much so that I named my dog Gadget. You've done a great job here! It looks a lot like the original.
  12. I'm no history expert, but it seems to me that bows fazed out to the crossbow, which was deadly yet required little skill to operate. Thus, it was a great tool for armies. Of course, the arrow was more accurate, etc., etc., but that's not what you're asking. I'm rambling. I think the answer may just be aesthetics- I've always thought the lego bow with its permanent arrow was a little silly looking. Maybe TLC did too.
  13. The image window that Target uses blocks us from saving the image, or seeing all of it at the same time. Thus, it requires screen shots and delicate stitching together to get a full image. Grogall and DA both did the same thing, although Grogall zoomed in more. Pfft, way too much effort. Thank you for your subtle critique. And yes, I've gotten out of the habit of checking. But while $50 seems like a lot, it's a good deal, for what it includes, although they could've added in another Republic Commando. So far, I really like the speeder. It has some nice greebles, and the flick-fires ought to be easy to remove. It seems a strange choice, though- I'm not sure why a group of heavily armed bounty hunters would want to
  14. Birdmen. Sort of based on mountainous terrain, with eagles/falcons as their symbol. Of course, I'd like giant eagles for them to fly on, but that would only have happened in Fantasy.
  15. Because he has a robotic arm. I'm excited for this set. A civilian speeder is rare, and the sheer amount of rare and exclusive minifigs make it a must buy. Too bad it's going to be overpriced. I know we saw the price for it somewhere....
  16. Thanks, DA! I'm glad I checked here- I was about to do it myself. This saved me some time.
  17. lego.com It's a little cheaper if you buy the 12-month package, but I'm not willing to cough up $90.
  18. While I'm very grateful to be able to beta test, I have to say that I won't be getting the game. The game is great-even beta- but at these prices, I can't afford it. First, we pay $40 just for the CD and a minifig. All right. That's the average PS2 game. But no- from there, we have $10-a-month subscriptions. That adds up- fast. This really ticks me off. To me, $40 for a game should be permanent, no strings attached. If I'm going to pay that much, I'd prefer that I got to keep it for life. I guess I'm just not the kind of person who wants to play 'disposable' games anyway.
  19. Beautiful. Would it be possible to get some more shots of this? It looks like you've done more but it's hard to get a sense of just how much!
  20. Here goes any and all discussion on season 3. Here's some previews (spoiler alert!) : Season 3 preview: StarWars.com I'll get up some screenshots later. ...aaaand they're up! So...either Aurra is alive, or Ahsoka is having a nightmare.
  21. I disagree. I feel that the old series was much more steady. This CW is well... turbulent. It has it's major ups and downs, in my opinion. I think the old series was highly artistic, and some characters had a 'cool factor', like the ARCs, that the characters in the new series can never have- because of those ups and downs. According to Wikipedia, in 2008 IGN listed The Clone Wars as the 89th (out of 100) greatest animated series of all time. In comparison, the original Clone Wars series was ranked 21st (out of 100). Makes me wonder if that ranking might've been higher if IGN had seen season 2.... I think we ought to move this to the other Season 2 thread, although there's not much need for this one anymore.

    MOD MTT

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I'll have to do it to mine!
  23. I'm fairly positive they won't kill Ahsoka yet. We know they'll have to, for continuity. Oh, wait, what continuity? I'm hoping that, based on the preview, we'll be able to see some real character development for her. She's actually not that bad of a character, in my opinion- much better than Anakin. I'm hoping we'll se Wulffe again, too. Plo's troopers have the coolest designs of the lot, and I'm curious to see Wulffe's cybernetic eye that we saw in the hologram.
  24. Neat. I'd prefer that we didn't have the booster pack, and gotten a bigger, more detailed shuttle instead. Oh well! Looks great, though!
  25. Ah, well that explains it. I haven't seen TS2 in years.
