Neat. The treads look great, and the laser is a nice touch. I like how you did the front- looks like you already dissassembled your swamp speeder.

This is my favorite TS set, after the green army men. I love everything about this set- that it's a hilarious representation of the 'real' thing, that we get so many printed pieces, that we get a lot of great figs with it, and that we get several pizzas. Fortunately, I won't have to buy multiple sets to get the little alien and Buzz- the two I most want. Strangely, this is listed as under Toy Story 3 on S@H. I think it's also interesting that we get so many figs with it, only one of which was actually in the truck. Perhaps there is a toy version of the truck in TS3?

That looks great! The shape of the solar panels really does catch the eye. And by the sheer amount of wings you can cram on them.

Yes, but there are two of them. So your chances are doubled. Therefore, to me, this offer never really existed... I hever never won a drawing in my life, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. Still, this is a good opportunity to get some of the new sets like PoP, since my local stores are taking too long.

The funny thing is, physicists like Hawking thinks that aliens must exist, while biologists are very doubtful. Who's right? Well, phisicists and astronomers believe that, due to the sheer amount of planets out there, the odds are astronomical (pun intended) that there must be life somewhere. Biologists, on the other hand, believe that the sheer odds of us being here in the first place are so massive, that we were a freak occurance. Well, that's my view... which is no view at all. I'll wait and see.

Argh! I've accumulated $20 worth of rewards, but the nearest lego store is 200 miles away! Here's hoping that we'll get the ability to use it on S@H before it expires...

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
Corvus replied to DarthSion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Holy crap. Aurra shot Commander Ponds. Aaargh! I'm not sure what to think about the finale. This is the best it's been- and it's also the worse. I'll put my pros and cons in: Pros: The scenery in this episode was the best of any episode so far. The wreckage of the Venator looked like something we'd see in the concept art of Raxus Prime in Force Unleashed. This was the darkest we've seen. The dead troopers were a good touch. Aura shooting Ponds and then dumping his body out the airlock was pretty creepy. I liked the nightclub scene at the lower levels of Coruscant. Very seedy. The dialogue between the civilians was a good touch while Ahsoka was listening in. I liked Plo's line- "We are justice." Cons This has violated so many things stories from the EU. For example- they rigged Jango's helmet to blow on the bridge. I first figured that Boba had got his hands on some abandoned Mando helmet, but nope- Jango's helmet went bye-bye. I really doubt that Boba would dump it easily. ARGH. How could they destroy Slave 1?! That's absolutely pathetic- just so Aurra could die. Boba's supposed to have that ship (or at least the pilot's seat...) for the rest of his life. I think they've really ruined Boba's character. He's lost the two most iconic heirlooms from his father- and now he's in prison on Coruscant with Bossk! This is, of course, directly after he'd told Mace Windu that he was a bad little boy. They'd better continue on with him in Season 3- it's rediculous to think that they'd leave him as some soft little kid. (relatively speaking, of course- 'soft' is relative to what he ends up as when he's older) /rant On to season 3: Looks like Ahsoka's going psycho. She's having visons... maybe she'll turn to the dark side? What's interesting is that I think I saw her fighting the police troops on Mandalore. Maybe it's her turning to the dark side, or maybe Mandalore decided to go back to its old ways? -
Thanks for the pic! Too bad the minifig doesn't have a torso print, or a face that matches his beard. Everything else is great, though.

I agree, it's a complete letdown. I wasn't expecting anything crazy like the white Boba, but stickers.... well, who wants stickers, free or not?! I didn't even like stickers when I was little. I would have preferred a new poster- if it were done well enough, I'd at least put it on my wall.

Now now, whatever happened to people's scientific spirit? Besides, this has very practical applications. It's very clean, much cleaner than so called "biofuel." And it's certainly much safer than punching holes in the seafloor to get oil out of.

I actually like both models. The shuttle looks more detailed than the polybag version, and this is the first mini AAT.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
Corvus replied to DarthSion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think the main thing that might come out of it will be some super trooper armor. I can't imagine a "Revenge of the Zillo Clone" episode coming anytime soon. I think if you're watching it on SW.com, you're missing out. The quality isn't nearly as good if you try to watch it in full screen. -
Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

I think they actually nailed that spot on. All they've been through has been flash training and exercises. There's no real time for them to be kids, so they've kind of skipped that. Besides, it's hilarious seeing a 10 year old kid saying, "You're out of order" seriously to another kid. The one that sounded like the older clones was Jax, the kid with the creepy haircut. I think they wanted him to be the 'leader' of the group, so they gave him a more mature voice. -
Ooh, awesome. I like spiders, and I think you did a great job here. The head is the best part, in my opinion. Now show it eating Frodo!

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
Corvus replied to DarthSion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just saw the new ep. Is it just me, or are people's mouth's out of sinc with their voices? I don't think any other episode has that problem. As far as the episode went, it was good. Boba didn't seem vengeful enough, though... He didn't want to hurt any clones. In the books, Boba was willing to do anything to achieve his ends, and yes, that included killing a few clones. Hopefully he'll get less undecisive as the rest of the episodes go on. Looks like next week we'll be seeing a double-header. -
Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

It really depends on the episode. I'd say the dialogue is a bit better in season 2, as well as the animation. -
Neat. It's very clever, and highlights several of the concerns I have whenever I visit massive stores like that. Stick with Lego! That's terrible. I know a model Star Destroyer out of Star Destroyer model sets would catch my eye over some block any day.

The Hobbit and planned sequel Discussion
Corvus replied to The Legonater's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I agree. The Hobbit was a nice little book. The LOTR books relied on so much backstory and names that it was hard to follow. I got lost when trying to hack my way through the conversations because so many people and places were mentioned by the characters... The Hobbit is much more easygoing, and I like the tone of it more. It's borderline playful and humorous. Well, I'm actually hoping for 'better,' now that they can animate the goblin armies better. 'Better', in this case, is just better- people seem to think of 'better' as the battles being more epic and the characters doing more crazy stunts. I want a 'better' movie in the everything- from cinemetrography, to character lines, to makeup. Not just the epic-ness of it. Besides, who wants to see an epic Hobbit? -
Neat. You pulled that off really well. And although I hate Jar-Jar, the gungans themselves weren't bad. I believe that they're from a Spiderman set. It forms the vortex from Doc Oc's fusion generator...thingy.

Neat little vig. Although it's a strange way for her to die- being force-sensitive, wouldn't she sense him? Anyway, some nice clean lines for a vig. Maybe you should try incorporating it into a bigger scene. Something bases around the fall of the CIS after Ep. III might work. Although the CW version of her didn't do much... and the 2D version of her was much cooler, so I stick to that.
-
Hmm.... a little too early, IMO. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems that PoP sets aren't out everywhere. I know none of my big stores have them yet. Maybe we ought to wait on the contests?
-
Neat model. I've done some mods to the SP bikes, but this is one great hoverbike. The use of the wheel pieces as thrusters is really neat.
-
While I didn't know him, I sure recognized his creations when I saw them. I really like his asymetrical ship designs- very different, and very well done. I wonder if any "Nnenn-style" contests will open up.
-
Neat. I have to say, 30062 is my favorite. While 30061 before, 30062 is very fresh, with a great parts selection.

While the colors are a definite improvement in my opinion, there is little to no actual improvement of the design itself. I would have liked to see an improvement in the wing design- the swing-down wings are inaccurate, they rotate- but this is a play feature, so I suppose I'll mod it. Once again, no real interior. This time, it's taken up by an even bigger firing mechanism. The Mando skull is interesting. Where is it supposed to go on the ship?
