Personally I would chalk it up to the overuse of technic. I really love this police speeder: It's very smooth, and it has some great lines. The engines are also a big plus. However, this set seemed incomplete, and then of course there's the open cockpit. I would say that TLC is going a step in the right direction. I'm really hoping that TLC is going to make a massive space set, like they've done with the Imperial Flagship and Medieval Market Village.

Careful, guys, this is quickly going to turn into politics...(i.e., stuff that can quickly get out of control) I will chip in my 2 cents, though ( ) I'm not sure about global warming, as it is used a lot, but I do know this is real: -Pollution -overpopulation -deforestation -desertification -overhunting Remember, guys, keep it civil.

Actually, I really like the placement of those cannons- they look perfectly suited to bombarding ground-based targets. I do feel that they'd look better if they had some movement, though. My only complaint is that the front seems a little too red. I'd suggest maybe replacing the large slope tile-thing that makes up the door. Perhaps replace it with a plate covered wtih tiles, perhaps with flames?

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

They do... as soon as Cad Bane's speeder comes out, I'll be getting some of the guard robes from MMCB... as soon as they open. I saw the preview for the new episode, and I have to say, I'm liking the animation in it. Some episodes just seem to have that almost cinematic quality in them, and I definately got that feeling during the space battle. I'm glad that the animators finally decided to make missiles more realistic, rather than those bits of slow-moving colored light that we saw in previous episodes. The shield effect was also really great. However, I'm not too fond of that spider guy... he seems a little rediculous. -

While I wasn't particularly impressed with the episode, it wasn't quite as bad as you lot led me to believe. While the guy was weird looking, he was kind of funny to laught at for his routine-ness. (Oh great, another report...) One nitpick, though: If the Kaminoans were going to have a senator, wouldn't they pick one a little more... graceful? While the senator they used provided a great example of corporate interests, I think it would have good to have created a better visual distractor to have one of those graceful, soft-spoken Kaminoans we see in Ep. II calmly, gracefully talking about just how much they need more clones to be produced. -
Thanks for the review! This certainly is a great set. Tons of new parts, and the set itself is actually pretty nice! While I don't care for the PoP theme, all of the set pictures I've seen have been stellar, and are backed up by your review.

That was a great documentary. I especially liked the Brickcon bit because I was there when it was filmed.

Thanks for the review! This is certainly a good-looking castle set. The minifig is great, although I agree that it could've used a shield and dark pearl silver sword. I like the look of the battle cart. It looks like it's supposed to be some sort of battering ram.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

This, along with dialogue, is my main concern. Has anyone else caught that someone fixed the clone's armor for an episode or so? I want to say that it was in Children of the Force. Anyway, someone decided to actually be realistic and 'unattached' the clone armor's elbow and knee guards? Unfortunately, someone changed it back the next episode. I was hoping that the phase II clones would fix these problems... but no, don't think so. I have yet to see the helmet, however. However, I did like the elite version of the Senate Commandos, with the shoulder capes and the head plumes... similar to the ones we've seen in the movies, but more dangerous. -
Your folder isn't public yet- we can't see it. Maybe provide a few deeplinks? But from what I'm aware, this has been noticed before. Whether or not they're all from one specific set or time period though, is beyond me...

Sorry, guys! I somehow missed your comments. Thanks, Suvie. This is intended to be a long-term project. The large size of it makes it simply impossible to buy and plan parts for, as well as making buildings rushed and lacking detail. Here's an update: So far, I have: -2 level command center (56x56 studs) -2 level barracks/armory (80x48) -3 tiered spaceport for smaller vessels (64x64) -maintenance garage (80x48) -4 gun emplacements -Monorail to service guns/carry cargo from end to end of area -Heavy armor lot -Large hangar area This is intended to be a basic visual so I can plan basic sizes for models. One idea I've had so far is to include a tiered spaceport for smaller vessels- starfighters, speeders, and the like. The three decks will be attached to a central tower, which will include stairs and hopefully a working elevator for moving larger items, like crates, fuel, etc. Second is a long barracks-type building. I don't have anything specific as of yet for design of this building. While this is intended to be a military base, I don't want it to be too crude. I'd like to include some architectural elements, such as a balcony, and maybe a statue. One of the core ideas I've had so far has been to include a monorail for moving supplies. This will be close to the ground, running along a two-stud wide groove for a track, enabling materiels to be tacken off easily. I plan to dabble around in LDD for a bit to get a more exact idea on what I want to do. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out what parts I'll need, too. I really like the 'in construction' idea, SuvieD. It could be a great way to spice it up during mid-build.

Nice! I actually did the same thing with the headlights. I suppose we all got the inspiration from the other Atlantis sets. My minor differences are that I added a steering wheel in the front of the large engine piece, and a slope to cover up the back instead.
-
The nose and the four engines are my favorites as well. I look forward to seeing your completed model! The next time you post pictures, thoughl, would you mind making them smaller? They can be a real trouble to some people's computers.

I'll hold your word to it, then. But the bag says 'components made in China'... Are you positively, absolutely, completely sure?

Happy birthday, you two! Nice! Great lego room! Certainly more impressive and professional than mine.

Parts that just can't be taken apart without swearing loudly
Corvus replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
These are terrible. Usually I have to do a great deal of prying, and then sliding a nail between the two and prying them apart. It's really bad on fingernails, though. Ugh. Usually I can get those off, and it's easier with a brick seperator. Unfortunately it's only readily available 10% of the time for me... This is the absolute worst. I still have a grey lightsaber blade stuck in a tan cone piece, left over from when I took my old AAT apart, however long ago that was... I think it's pretty much permanent. -
Thanks for this absolutely beautiful review, Svelte! The pics were very informative, and your review was humorous, as always. The GE is a lot better than I thought it was. When I first saw it, I thought it was fairly bland and unimpressive compared to the other modular city sets. However, this is a beautiful set, both inside and outside. The parts selection is also amazng.

"I'm stuck!" From what I could tell, there was too much placement of the word 'lego' around- Clutch even had the LEGO logo on his sleeve.
-
That's great. It really made me laugh- there's a lot of detail, and it all matches up. My only complaint, though, is that the main catapult doesn't quite fit. I know the effect you were going for, but it still bugs me that it can't draw back.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

I agree, I'm actually wondering what's going on, and how it's going to end. It is too long between when the post each one, though. They used to do one a week. I'm glad they fixed on one or two styles, too. The third, cartooney version was . But... until the 19th? They need to be careful- kids will fall out of the habit of watching every friday night. Even I've gotten less and less impatient for each new episode, I've noticed... I suppose one thing they could do would be to play the episodes more often, as well. -
Looks like a knockoff to me... especially that minifig. An awesome knockoff, though.
-
Hmmm.... I'm undecided on this... For one, none of the characters look like who they're acting. I know that anime characters are very hard to get right, but they could've at least got the details right- Ang's arrow, Katara's hair, and Zuko's scar are all wrong. Maybe part of it is that they're too young. As a general rule, actors in movies are older than the characters they're playing. To lure in the people who watched this show, who are probably around 12-15 (or older... ) by now, they should've picked older actors to make the movie more interesting to older ages.

So do I. I wish that for that price, Lego would have included a back, though. Blegh. While the general shape is good, the colors are a problem. Hopefully I'll be able to take them out. The cockpit might need a lot of work, too. I partially agree. I like the body, but the head is ugly. He can't turn it, and it looks rounded off... the ear things ruin it. I'm not so sure. It was more grey than it was blue in the movies. This is pushing it. Plus, the combination of sand blue, sand green, grey torso, green printing, and red is just too much. Interesting. Thanks! It looks like we'll be getting Senate Commandos for a better price- yay! I'm glad I didn't get the Venator now, then. Plus we get one of Bane's cohorts. I always liked the Weequay figs TLG made for the pirate tank.

It appears that this is MB's new stategy- find as much pop culture stuff as possible and get a license on it.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion

Me too. The shields were supposed to be 'plexiglass' according to the Episode guide, but they seemed pretty opaque to me. I spent most of the episode hoping that we'd get to see them beating the crap out of somebody with their clubs.
