[SoNE Ep. VIII] Fools and their Money
MstrOfPppts replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Well this is a rather huge entry. There's plenty nice things that I really like, but there's also quite some that could use my complaints ;) I really don't know where to start ... Fisrt of all, I really like the white / dark red combo for the Tatooine buildings. Although the white looks a bit too clean, there really were some white buildings there. But I don't understand the odd shaping of the big white pillar to the left and the middle white part looks a bit too much like a Hoth cave. Also the dark tan rockwork on top of that looks unfinished. And so do the prison cells (prison with no roof?). I think that those parts really give a bad touch to a overall very good creation, because other areas are far more detailed like the dark blue and brown side roofs which are my favourite parts. As for the hanger - it could really use some more bits laying around on the floor as it looks too clean. The wall detailing is very nice though. Another thing I'm not too fond of is the cutout. I usually try to make it with one straight plane so that it's more obvious which parts of the MOC should continue and in which direction. In your case I have a feeling that the hanger has some kind of bombed hole in the roof. Same goes for the back hallway where it's not very clear if the walls are cut or are they just so low. I have no useful suggestion how to illustrate that in your case but trying to stick to one cutout plane or maybe two, which are parapendicular ... This is a very minor thing, but I had to mention it. There are too many big squares seen in the sandy ground work that are not soften by using more smaller plates to gain more relief and hide the long straight edges. I know how such big MOCs are time and piece consumig especially if you want to cover all these little flaws. The updated version of the speeder engines looks better then the whole black ones and the minifigs action looks in place too. As for the story - I think it's a bit ridiculous that in such a big MOC the pile of poo is the main attraction ;) -
[MOC] Minifigure Scale Rebels Phantom with base
MstrOfPppts replied to goatman461's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Excellent work! There really isn't anything to complain about. The scale is spot on as well as all the details and there are quite some. When I saw the round hatch opening at the bottom, I though well he must have foregotten to do it on the other side, but hey it's there. In fact everything is - the foldable seats, foldable wings, a nice cockpit and just enough room for the whole team. The outer shape is also instantly recognisable. The stand is really cool and it's a nice display including all the characters. I'm only missing Chopper ... now don't go searching for excuses and continue with the Ghost! ;) -
As I've edited the post above, it started working for me. Thanks.

I'd like to order one white shirt with standard logo. You can't really have the anniversary logo this year?! Size L that is. Thank you! -
Very cool entry! I like how there's so much going on in a busy street, just like in the movies with all different species mixed minding their own business. I especially like the gamorrean guards bringing in the slaves. I really dig the watch tower, it's a nice addition as well as the studless speeder. Well done on that one. One thing that bothers me a bit is splitting the build into two parts for no reason. There's not like a huge area between the speeder and the buildings so it might as well all be on one plate. Also the gray plates under the sand look a bit off and I'd prefer them all tan or a mixture with dark tan. And lastly, I'd suggest that next time you make the buildings slightly bigger to bring in some more realism. These look a bit chiby and are more likely in a System scale rather than proper minifig scale. But overall it's a very strong entry!

Aha, so it's you pesky mods who have something special enabled not for us mortals ;) Ok, it started working today ...

Hmmm ... this is strange. I tried IE and FF both give me same results. If I clikc my mop tag I only get my last SoNE entry and 5 other topics from out of this subforum ... I understand I don't get my last TOR entries since they are 3 years old, but no previous episodes entries show up either. Now you've ruined my profile then?!

I feel honored to be able to post in the new subforum ;) Thoguh I did find something odd happening by moving the topics. Somehow the tags of the topics in this subforum stopped working. They do show up, though by clicking on them only topics from other forums are shown or the ones posted after the migration. Any info on this matter? I usually check my previous entries for structure and to avoid any oddities story-wise.

Karin was sent to Tatooine to make a deal with a promising pod racer. He was constructing a pod with huge engines and required assistance in acquiring some parts. Flaren proved himself useful again for providing them, but everything did not go as planned ... Karin: Hello Reed, this is Flaren and he got the parts you needed. Flaren: Yes, here are the power cells for your linking mechanism. It can link together bigger engines than you could ever build. Karin: I see there's still a lot happening around here. So where is your pod racer? Reed: Jo vidi, grota un chapa mundi hasa et montarena. Karin: What do you mean the other engine arrives tomorrow? Tomorrow is the race you idiot! Reed: Nos vonyari, un chapa et punti. Karin: Well it's you who should be worried! You have to win this race. And why are there so many bets on your brother? I have the feeling we're making the deal with the wrong guy ... I'll have to make sure he does not finish the race! Reed: Min brudi? Ponto mus ti shokku? Karin: No he doesn't need to die, but it's up to you. You can still convince him not to enter the race. Now get moving, you still have a lot to do! And you better not cross me tomorrow. Reed: <slurred> Rumpha ... Karin: <leaving> I did not understand that, but I guess it's better for you ... I hate the midnight photoshootings. Here's some placeholders for better images which I'll add as soon as possible - if it's not against the rules ...

I'll be in London a week before (no countdown for me ), so it's train for me. I guess it's the best option and buying a return ticket makes it a bit cheaper. I'm going back to London, since Tuesday plane tickets back were cheaper! I too will have no car and am satying at Oakley. Shirts would be awesome! -

[SPC] Cat C - Raid on the Shi-Quak settlement
MstrOfPppts replied to steentje's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Great stuff steentje! This is a really creative way to represent various little builds and combine them in a bigger whole. Each build is nicely designed and built and fits the theme well. The fort part looks cool and although it's all in gray it doesn't look too much like stone. Even if it's concrete it looks futuristic and not too castle-ish. The SNOT tecnique for the ground is well used and the sinked box looks cool. I really love the color coherence of the whole build as well as your pirate team. The olive green roof is also a nice detail! My only complaint would be the doors, where I'd sugest using plates between the arches rather than puting them so far behind leaving the nasty gaps of both arches exposed. But apart of that a very strong entry. Good luck! -
Epic! Season 2 looks to be really good and fun. Season 1 was OK, but I still think there were too many filler episodes. And when there's just 15 episodes per season (LAZY DISNEY, LAZY!) that is that much more troublesome. Anyway with this much going on I guess there might be even fewer fillers in season 2. I just hope that the majority of stuff shown is not just from one episode. The CW characters are awesome, but I really miss Asajj Ventress!

[SoNE Ep. VIII] Tracking Podracers
MstrOfPppts replied to Graham Gidman's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I really started to like these kind of bases and I think it's very well made. I do prefer smoother lines so I'd sugest the side "steps" to not be larger than one stud on one side or even use some more wedged or curved plates at the lowest level. The dark tan and tan combination makes a very nice combination and is used just in the right way. It makes a feel of some sand piled on a more solid ground. The podracer itself is a bit less interesting but not bad at all. I do imagine the majority might want to use as many different original round molds for the engines as possible and I guess LBG has the biggest selection. Maybe adding some more dark blue pieces to the engine and making the car mostly in that color might look better. I'd also swap the thin ropes with any kind of a bit thicker hoses and fill the hole on the side with the half pin with stud adding a 1x1 round plate / tile on that. I like the fire coming out of the engines at the front part. The Jawa is a cool addition, maybe a tusken raider would fit in there too? Just some of my sugestions but a very strong entry overall!- 8 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas Poll
MstrOfPppts replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A note to everyone; there's just too much historical comparison going on for my taste, so I had to jump in. BoBS will be a fictional world with little pirate appropriate fantasy. There will be no Dutch, Brits, French nor Spanish guys jumping around. Therefor also the majority of torsos are allright. I have no problem with the Indiana Jones soldiers someone already used despite the stars used on the belts. So what, that's how the pirate era developed in our made up universe. And yes, you can use shakos or morions in every faction if you so desire. The fact I'm not too fond of the morion on the greencoats is that it looks very army oriented, whilst that faction is more of the traders. But more then the Spanish / Dutch traders I prefer to imagine them like Arabic or Indian traders or more like the Kaliphlin guild. Yet still it's all up to the leaders where they'll take this faction ... Of course they have the armies too but for me they are not necessarily sporting green. Green is more a color of the flag and we chose it for having the third best (after red and blue) torso options for that era. Maybe they should just be yellow instead? After all if you still have a problem with all these shenanigans about the torsos or historical connections, come and join the best faction there is - Pirates! Savvy? Edit: How come noone wishes this project doesn't go throuh?! ;) -
Well I think that this is about your imagination. Maybe this last episode is a bit specific, but take BEAVeR for instance, he was piloting a TIE in episode IV and V if I'm not mistaken. The objectives udually are enough flexible that they could be fulfilled in multiple ways. But I too (as already said) wouldn't mind having more diverse and specific goals for different roles as well as ranks ...

Some nice ideas there Artizan. I like the Sebulba legs although that fig looks a bit creepy :) I'd try to make her had and arms gray too, to go with the bare legs ... I do have some sugestions, but they're my personal taste so feel free to ignore them. I'd switch Mr. Feathers' uniform for the figure is too red. I'm not a big fan of the gold color on the legs of Voodoo Witch Droid. And another personal preference is that I avoid using combos of legs and torsos with too much difference in printing detail like your Sailmaster. A very simplified jacket and very detailed legs print looks strange to me. Also I like the idea of droids for the Voodoo people!

Wow, these are some creative figs. I really like the octopus robot guy! It's nice usage of parts and spot on for a pirate theme. I'm not too fond of the plant thingy though. Have to start my wip thread too before all my ideas are taken by others ...

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
MstrOfPppts replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Interesting discussion, keep it coming, we need more opinions! I for one would go more into fantasy but far, far less than GoH. All PoTC fantasy is a must though I think it'd be fun to have some other races than humans too. I'd limit them to a specific number and skip Gungans and such ... It'd give the game more possibilities and variety and maybe some more crazy MOCs. We must get the historical colors out of your heads since this has nothing to do with british or french navy! I'd also skip the classic RvB rivalry though I understand that'd be impossible with you hardcore classic pirates fans. Yet this game will be about Corrington VS whatever the blue fraction is called so I'd skip the classic pirates banners too although they are cool. We have a blue and a red fraction because other colors for fitting uniforms don't exist in LEGO. For example GoH is succesfull but it's not about wolf packs vs dragons vs falcons. Ofcourse people use those insignias, but its all about Avalonia, Kaliphlin, Mitgardia and Nocturnus ...
