They're still dark bley as far as I can tell. Though it occurred to me recently that if you wanted to extend the water to fit the Destiny's Bounty, it'd be simple enough to swap the two dark bley baseplates for a light bley 48x48 baseplate and extend the edge of the water to match.

You've got it backwards—the real question is why would they make a set twice as expensive just so that a train is "complete" when a "half train" with only one engine will suffice for most families' purposes? With one engine per set, you still get a complete play experience with minimal repetition in the build. That's probably what the majority of buyers (especially kids) will be most interested in. For hardcore train fans, the option to "double up" to get a complete train with two engines, twice as many cars, and double the track remains, without having to price the set itself out of the casual consumer's price range.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lyichir replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
That this is used as an insult is a great example of everything wrong with the AFOL community. -
There are multiple reasons why it couldn't be turned into a coaster. It's much, much too small (a loop for an entire coaster train would have to be vastly larger than one for an individual ball piece) and too fiddly (the custom rail system they've come up with would require much, much more fine tuning to work correctly than Lego's prefab track, which is probably the main reason why those track pieces were introduced in the first place). It's possible that somebody could manage to jury-rig a similar loop for a roller coaster in a MOC, but actual sets require a great deal more precision to work correctly out of the box.

This is fantastic! The character is instantly recognizeable.

Very nice! The verticality of the tower combined with the autumnal foliage near the top reminds me pleasantly of Akkala Citadel Ruins from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

^What he said. Ninjago City is designed like the Creator Expert "modular buildings" which have floors that can be separated for play, rather than the open-backed buildings typical of many other themes including City and Friends. Each floor is designed with a layer of smooth tiles near the top to allow you to remove higher floors to access the rooms inside. As long as you're building it as the instructions specify, you should still be able to access every room of the building. I hope this helps—Ninjago City is a fantastic set and you should enjoy it instead of worrying about not being able to get inside!

Don't think so. As far as I can tell one has Warm Gold and the other has Copper Metallic, a color that was introduced in last year's Ninjago sets but has only been used sparingly since then.

Ninjago City Expansion wishlist
Lyichir replied to Dr.Cogg's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Considering the installments so far have largely been based on the Ninjago Movie, I wouldn't mind one that included the high school (especially if it included Nya's cool motorcycle as well). -
Why on earth would the sales of this set have any impact whatsoever on the modulars? You could just as easily say that the number of people who bought the UCS Falcon ensured that all future Star Wars UCS sets would be that price, but that's obviously not true. Lego benefits from having sets available at a range of price points, and even as that range gets broader the lower priced options aren't going to just disappear as long as they too continue to sell well. If anything, Lego is probably banking on the Carousel and Ferris Wheel (not to mention the much more affordably priced Pirates Roller Coaster in the Creator 3-in-1 theme) remaining viable options for people who don't want to put money down on a set this expensive.

Nothing else pure Space just yet, but there is an Ultra Agents poster for the billboard. And there's so much of the set that we haven't yet seen, even with the better pics—I would not be at all surprised to see further Space references among that.
-
Oh, I doubt that. At the very least, there'll probably be further Space references in that very set.

Pssst... This site has pretty large images of all the Ninjago sets (including alternate images, and including Ninjago City Docks.

It can attach to either side—the slant is so that it won't collide with the overhanging branch on the right side of Noctura's Tower.

Just saw them! So amazing! There's a lot more inside the Elvenstar Tree than I expected. It looks like the workshop area in the Emily vs. Noctura set also can connect to the side of Noctura's tower to expand it!

Pictures here (since they aren't watermarked or anything): https://www.radiokontrol.it/in-mattoncini-di-plastica-lego-41195/product/10030522 https://www.radiokontrol.it/in-mattoncini-di-plastica-lego-41196/product/10030523 The Elvenstar tree has all of the diamond pieces unprinted, which should be a boon to MOCists. The set with Noctura's carriage includes a little workshop section as well. There seem to be two new small bats between the two sets.

Well I think the Oni Titan looks fabulous! It's definitely not normal human proportions but to me that just makes it look more imposing and otherworldly. Great to see Nya finally getting the boomerang blade from back when she was Samurai X, as well! Don't know if I'll get the set since it doesn't really have any exclusive figs from the looks of it, but that's often the case with store exclusives. Apparently the Ninjago City Docks were also available early at Legoland Billund, so I'm hoping we'll get clearer pictures of the front and back (if not the entire thing out of box) before long...

THAT IS INCREDIBLE. Not only does it use Nexo Knights parts, but it thematically fits in with the other weapon-shaped vehicles while also bearing a resemblance to the smaller claymore piece!

I actually think the amulet piece is dual-molded, not painted. Looking at my own copies the newer ones do seem a little different, though it's a minor change. Speaking of amulets, at some point I want to get ahold of Ursula from one of last year's Disney Princess sets. She has what seems to be a Titanium Metallic amulet with a yellow core, which would be super cool to use for a custom Elves character.

Actually, there were some pretty significant marketing snafus for Galidor. Perhaps most notably, its potential sales in the UK were crippled by the fact that the TV show (which was intended as the primary marketing vehicle for the theme) legally couldn't be aired alongside the release of the sets due to advertising laws—by the time they could have begun airing the show there, the line had basically already folded. This was neatly avoided by Bionicle G2 by relying on web-based and streaming story media (which of course was not really as much of an option for Galidor in an era when high-speed internet was a rare luxury). In the U.S. it was aired on the fairly unpopular Fox Kids network, which probably didn't do it any favors either.

Copying from a reply I made in the Future Castle Sets topic that might be even more applicable here...

I think a big question about whether Lego would make sets based on the Amazon LotR series is not just how successful the show would end up being (since it may well have a more limited audience than the Lord of the Rings or even the Hobbit movies did), but also whether Lego's physical retail partners (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) would be keen on stocking sets licensed from one of their biggest online competitors. If they objected to that then even if the series were a resounding success, we might not see much more than a single D2C set or the like since a good portion of Lego's distribution channels might be unwilling to carry the products.

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance
Lyichir replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Particularly illegal competition that cuts almost all engineering and licensing costs by stealing part designs, set designs, and licensed IPs outright. Trying to compete on price with a company that refuses to play by the rules is a fool's errand. -
From a story perspective I could potentially reconcile it with the others by interpreting it as a very advanced stage of a dragon's life cycle, where extremely old and/or powerful dragons have more of their mass converted to elemental energy or something. After all, this is also the only dragon we've had with these sorts of "energy wings".
